Red Mile Race Reviews
Thursday, September 27th
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 2-1-5-7
1
Benearthe beach
($60k HB yearling) Appears
to have really turned the corner in her last couple tries against mid-level
PA stakes company. No question she is
heading in the right direction, and lands in a WIDE open field here.
2
Diligent Prospect
($20k Lex yearling) A bit
ironic that the only maiden in the field turns out to be the highest money
earner thus far, as she has added to the bankroll with a couple of stakes
runner up finishes. Must respect.
3
Hippie Chic
($8k Lex yearling) Hard to
gage her Ontario
tries on the smaller tracks, but she has certainly been holding her own
against stakes company. Should pick
things up with the return to the big track, again its wide open.
4
All Perfect
Came up empty in the $114k
PASS the last time we saw her, and has now disappeared for nearly two
months. No question a softer spot
tonight, but is all perfect? I’m not
sure. Campbell opted to #1 instead.
5
Somewhere inheaven
($40k Lex yearling) Canadian
invader has raced very well against similar company recently, which earned
her the slight nod as the fav in here.
Her best effort puts her squarely in the mix once again.
6
Iwannabe justlikeu
Sprinted home in a solid
local Q’fer, and owns a couple of wins against mid-level PA stakes company
prior. I could make a case for anyone
in the field here. Your call.
7
My Sweet Mandy
Sprinted home to finish up a
sharp 2nd last time against #5 at Mohawk, and should continue to
improve here in only her 4th LT start. I would expect another off the pace
rally. Maybe.
Race 2 Selections 1-4-10-8
1
Omnipotent
($30k HB yearling) Trotted
evenly against a couple of solid fields locally in the Kindergarten, and now
lands on the pole in what appears to be a much softer spot. I’m ready to hop on board.
2
Stirling Bonzai
($40k Lex yearling) Has had
some severe stamina problems thus far in her brief career, and she would have
to pick things up quite a bit to hang with the top ones in here.
3
Stacelita Dream
Canadian invader has been ok
against overnight company thus far, but not sure she is ready to hang with
these just yet. I’ll watch one first. Christensen opted to #5 instead.
4
Winky’s Truffle
Not sure why she made the
break last time, but I can tell you that the prior start was very
impressive. Gets Lachance back tonight
as well. I think she could hit the ticket
in here at a nice price. ML opted here
over #6.
5
Mary’s Master
($2.2k Del yearling) Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to go with these just yet. Pass. Christensen opted here over #3.
6
Ballet Slippers
($75k HB yearling) First
local start wasn’t all that bad, but this filly wanted no part of the
starting gate last time and had 2 chances after a recall initially. Not sure I can hop on board after that. Lachance opted to #4 instead.
7
Rock on Mermaid
($8k Lex yearling) PA
invader has been trotting evenly in her last several, but it appears she
would have to pick things up a bit to hang with the top ones in here.
8
Rosie’s Warrior
($42k HB yearling) Continues
to improve with each start, finishing up a close 4th last time
after saving ground throughout. Not an
overly tough crew here, any further improvement should put her close. JC opted to #9.
9
Matriarch Hanover
($115k HB yearling) Well
bred filly appears to have a touch of early speed, and I would expect her to
float off the gate to find good early position in a field with potential
breakers. Campbell opted here over #8.
10
Sheena’s Shadow
($97k Lex yearling) Finished
up a nice 3rd against stakes company in her career debut at Vernon, but regressed
into a break last time in PA. Not sure
what to expect tonight, take a good long look at her on the track.
Race 3 Selections 5-1-6-2
1
Royal Assets
($45k HB yearling) Very
talented daughter of Donato has only missed the board once in 8 starts. No question she has plenty of talent, but
she has come up on the short end in her only two meetings with #5.
2
Ma Chere Hall
($18k Lex yearling) Dewey
first cropper parlayed a perfect trip into a very close 2nd place
finish last week in the Kindergarten.
Might be just a notch below the favs in here at this point
though.
3
Coffeecake Hanover
($25k HB yearling) Couldn’t
hang with #5 when they hooked up 2 starts back in the $200k PASS Final, but
still held on for a decent 4th place finish. Packs plenty of early speed, I would expect
YG to have her in play.
4
Feather Your Nest
Hasn’t been able to hang
with #’s 1 or 5 on the PASS circuit thus far, and it doesn’t appear that
things are going to get any easier in here.
5
Frau Blucher
($21k HB yearling) Talk
about a bargain, this filly has yet to miss the board in 9 tries and has
already banked over $330k! Very
talented freshman just like her sire was.
Continues to get better and better!
6
Miss Steele
($22k Lex yearling) Got
knocked off as the heavy fav here last time, but don’t be too hard on her
because she never really found clearance until too late. That being said, I’m not sure she is ready
to hang with the favs.
Race 4 Selections 1-2-5-4
1
Upfrontlucky carol
($35k HB yearling) Has been
holding her own against some very tough company on the PASS circuit, and
finished right on the line with #5 in here 2 starts back in the $200k
Final. Should sit close from the
pole.
2
Morningstar
Regally bred filly out of
the World Champ $2 million winner Passionate Glide (one of my all time favs),
not to mention sired by Cantab Hall – the leading money winning sire in 2012
thus far. She finished up a close 2nd
behind #1 three starts back. Pierce
resumes the driving duties tonight.
Lots to like.
3
Karalta Bye Bye
($20k HB yearling) Not sure
she is ready to hang with this crew just yet.
Pass.
4
Caneel Hall
($40k Lex yearling) Picked
up the final check in big money KYSS Final, but appears to be a notch below
these right now. I’ll wait until we
see some further improvement.
5
Aspidistra Hanover
($50k HB yearling) Held off
#1 in here for 2nd in the $200k PASS Final last time, and has been
solid on that circuit all season. Any
similar effort puts her close once again.
6
Sina
A distant 3rd
behind #’s 1 & 2 two starts back at Pocono, but hasn’t really progressed
any further to this point. Would take
a lot more here.
Race 5 Selections 1-2-5-4
1
Shared Past
Trotted evenly against the
best of the best in the $448k Peaceful
Way stakes last time at Mohawk, and has proven
that she can hold her own against some tough fillies. Handily defeated #5 back on 8-10 in Jersey.
Maybe.
2
Vintage Oaks
Made a break around the
opening turn here last time, after it appeared that she had really rounded
the corner in her last couple of tries.
No question she packs plenty of speed if she minds her manners. Price should be right.
3
Changed It All
Held her own against
mid-level stakes company in PA all season, but faces a big step up to the
major leagues tonight to take on a solid crew. Not sure I can endorse her against these
just yet.
4
Alphadoodle
($85k Lex yearling) Tired
late on the off track last time at Tioga, but had been rolling on the NYSS
circuit prior. Should really improve
with the stretch out to the big track, I can make a case.
5
Time To Kill
($25k Lex yearling)
Dominated as the heavy fav last time in smaller Freehold stake, and came up
only a nose short prior for $150k at The Big M. Should be in line for a nice trip from
mid-pack post. JC opted here over
#6.
6
Parlia Hanover
($90k HB yearling) Doesn’t
appear to pack the speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet. Pass.
Campbell
opted to #5 instead.
7
Antsy Dancey
($11k HB yearling) Finished
up just behind #1 in both of her Mohawk starts most recently, but has proven
that she can hold her own with some top fillies this season as well. No question she fits with these.
Race 6 Selections 8-2-6-3 Start of $10,000 Guaranteed
Pick 4 See Ticket at the end
1
Ideal Portrait
($50k Lex yearling) Ended up
a distant 4th behind some nice fillies last time at Vernon, and should find
this spot much more to her liking.
Lands on the pole as well. Your
call. Tetrick opted to #2
instead.
2
Hobe Sound
($50k Lex yearling) A couple
of ground saving journeys to begin her career at Philly, and she lands in an
absolutely WIDE open field here to kick off the $10k Pick 4. Tetrick opted here over #’s 1 & 8.
3
Make Some Memories
Not sure why we didn’t see
this filly locally in the KYSS, but she has held her own against similar
company in Canada
recently. Again, it’s wide open! Demand value with whomever you choose. Campbell
opted to #6.
4
Stars N Bars
No luck against stakes
company last time in Indy, and was even in prior starts against overnight
company in Chicago. Lands in a competitive crew here, not sure
I’m ready to hop on board tonight.
5
Kiss My Yankee
Never in it last time in Delaware stake, but
keep in mind that was a very quick mile and she had an outside post. Lands in perfect mid-pack post here, but
would still have to pick it up a bit.
6
Take Into Account
Another Canadian invader for
Team McIntosh, and I decided to Take Into Account the fact that Campbell did opt here
over her stablemate, #3.
7
Naked at the Beach
OH invader would have to
find a lot more pop late to get by her rivals in here. I can’t endorse her against these.
8
Think Pink
($75k HB yearling – highest
YC sold in ’11) Had some sneaky late pace when she finally fanned wide down
the lane last time to finish up 4th. This is possibly an even easier spot
here. Tetrick opted to #2 instead.
9
All On My Own
We don’t see too many Iowa invaders here at
the GC, but that’s just what we have here.
Tough to gage her from those small tracks, but she was well beaten
back on 9-3 at Running Aces. Appears
overmatched.
10
Baez
Not quite sure what to
expect here. Filly has shown to have
some speed and ability, but she never looked comfortable scoring down on the
track last time before breaking behind the gate. Hmmm…
Race 7 Selections 3-1-4-2
1
Lady Likes Muscles
Trotted evenly in both of
her starts thus far, and now lands on the pole here in what appears to be a
much softer crew. Picks up Pierce as
well. All positive indicators.
2
Vallas Cowgirl
($18k HB yearling) Another
that has trotted evenly against tougher company locally thus far, and should
be in line for a nice trip from inside post.
Maybe.
3
Speed Dial
Came from far back on the
off track last time in Canada
to pick up 3rd, and was parked every step of the mile in the start
prior. Should improve with the move to
the big track, and picks up JJ. Live
longshot? Yes.
4
Thistle Dhu
($60k Lex yearling) Appeared
to solve the breaking problems with the addition of trotting hobbles last
time, but she was uncontrollable on the front blazing to the half in 55. Can YG ration out the speed? Not sure.
5
Windsun Mohavi
($27k HB yearling) First
time starter trotted decently in her local AM work, and now lands in a fairly
suspect crew for her career debut. Any
further improvement puts her right in the mix.
6
Redur beautiful
Has been ok here this
season, but would likely have to pick things up quite a bit still to contend
for any of the major awards. Your
call.
7
Double Dip
($50k HB yearling) Doesn’t
appear to pack the speed to hang with the top ones in here right now. Pass.
8
Blue Diamonds
($140k Lex yearling –
Highest Dewey filly in ’11) Had been trotting evenly here against KYSS
company this season, but has regressed into some bad habits recently. She can go with these on her best day
though.
9
Muscles R Us
($5k Lex yearling) Doesn’t
appear to pack a lot of early speed, and likely to be coming from far back
here from post 9. Not sure I like her
with that in mind.
10
Perfect Alliance
($75k Lex yearling) Made
breaks in both career tries thus far, I’ll wait until we see some
improvement. Lachance opted to #8
instead.
Race 8 Selections 1-9-8-5
1
Power Pack Hanover
($120k Lex yearling) It
seems as if I see another talented son or daughter of Somebeachsomewhere pop
up every day. First time starter shows
a good morning work at Pocono. Not
overly tough group here.
2
Guarding the Gold
Scioto invader would have to pick things up quite a bit to
hang with the top ones in here.
Pass.
3
Royal Engagement
Has held her own on the
smaller Canadian strips thus far, and should continue to improve with the
stretch out to the mile track tonight.
Fairly wide open crew in here.
Maybe. Campbell opted to her stablemate (#5)
instead.
4
Apple
($140k Lex yearling –
highest AM filly sold in ’11) First time starter appears to be improving with
each Q’fer, but I’ll watch her go around under the lights once before hopping
on board. Campbell opted to #5 instead.
5
Shared Account
We haven’t seen her in
action in almost a month, but she is probably facing a bit easier company
here than in her most recent efforts at Mohawk. Her best effort puts her in the mix. Campbell
opted here over #’s 3 & 4.
6
Caviart Savannah
OH invader appears to pack
some speed, but also has had some breaking problems thus far in her brief
career. No question she can go with
these IF she minds her manners. Your
call.
7
Let Her Rock
($30k HB yearling) I must
admit that I wasn’t overly high on her last time, but she raced very well to
finish up 2nd behind a 3yo.
Should continue to improve in only her 2nd LT try.
8
Aunt Caroline
($82k HB yearling) Make no
mistake, that was a solid duo that beat her out here last week. Packs plenty of early speed if TT elects to
blast. Another that should continue to
improve in 2nd LT start.
Tetrick opted here over #10.
9
O Narutac Rockette
($11k HB yearling) Appeared
headed for a nice payday in $68k Babic Final last time in Jersey,
before making a costly break. Should
benefit with the move to the big track.
I can make a case here.
10
Full Service
($15k Lex yearling) Hasn’t
been able to seal the deal in 2 local starts thus far, and things certainly
aren’t going to get any easier against tough crew from post 10. Not tonight. Tetrick opted to #8 instead.
Race 9 Selections 1-7-2-5
1
Mistery Woman
($102k Lex yearling) After
watching the first 2 starts of her career, I don’t think there is any
question that she was worth every penny of that 6 figure price last
fall. A ton of talent, but taking on
some TOP fillies here. David Miller opted
here over #7, I’m willing to do the same.
2
Fashion Athena
Has been solid all season on
the PASS circuit, but hooks a tough crew for her local GC debut. Will have to improve even more to hang with
the fav in here.
3
Right Away
($22k Lex yearling) Appears
overmatched against these right now.
Pass.
4
Cupcake
($35k Lex yearling) Picked
off a lesser crew here locally, but there aren’t any cupcakes in this
field. I’ll wait for a better spot. Lachance opted to #5 instead.
5
Handover Belle
Closed from far back to
finish up 3rd in the $448k Peaceful Way last time at Mohawk, far
behind #7 in here. Should sit much
closer in short field tonight though.
Maybe underneath. Lachance
opted here over #4.
6
UF Tadys Donato
($35k HB yearling) Parlayed
a perfect trip into a 2nd place finish behind #1 last time at
Delaware, but lands in quite the shark tank here for her local debut. Not tonight.
7
To Dream On
($200k HB yearling – highest
CW sold in ’11) Came up a neck short in the $448k Peaceful Way in her only career defeat
last time. Looks to get back on track
here, and is certainly the one to beat.
In a fairly shocking move, David Miller opted to #1 instead.
Race 10 Selections 9-2-5-8-10 10
CENT SUP ER HI FIVE WAGERING
1
Lipstick Rose
Canadian invader has been
solid against overnight company on the small ovals, but would have to improve
even more to hang with the top ones in big bulky field tonight. Your call.
2
Herculotte Hanover
($40k HB yearling) Not
thrilled with the sick scratch last time, but I have been a big fan of hers
after a couple of solid local performances.
Likely to sit close from inside post.
Must respect.
3
Chakra Hanover
($7k HB yearling) Has been
ok against overnight company in PA, but would have to pick things up quite a
bit to hang with the top ones in here.
4
Gliding to Glory
Trotted evenly in mid-level
stake at The Meadows last time, and appears to be one of many with a shot
here in the wide open finale. Likely
to get a nice trip from mid-pack post.
Tetrick opted to #9 instead.
5
My America Bi
($30k Lex yearling) Got up
by the slimmest of margins in the $38k stake last time in PA, and is yet
another with a shot here in a fairly wide open 11 horse field. Any further improvement puts her close once
again.
6
Southwind Sauna
($100k Lex yearling)
Appeared to be on the right track after adding hobbles, but regressed back
into some bad habits since arriving locally.
I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement. DM opted to #8 instead.
7
Podagros
($25k HB yearling) Doesn’t
appear to pack the speed to hang with these just yet, and has missed almost a
month prior to tonight. I’ll watch one
first.
8
Richesse Oblige
Absolutely perfect 2nd
over steer last time to finish up a close 3rd. Appears to be in a bit softer tonight than
she has faced in those last couple.
Her best effort should put her very close once again. DM opted here over #6.
9
With Sugar
($160k HB yearling) Added
hobbles here in the AM which appeared to solve the breaking problems for
now. She has a TON of speed if she
minds her manners. No question she is
blasting from way out here.
10
Déjà vu Too
($40k Lex yearling) Speaking
of Deja Vu, this filly hasn’t started inside post 8 now for what is the 5th
consecutive time! YG will have to find
a way to work her into the race.
11
Fancy Fern Yankee
Not a big fan of 2nd
tier trotters, particularly 2yo’s that have shown breaks in the past. I’ll wait for a better spot.
