Red Mile Race Reviews
Thursday, September 13th
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 8-7-5-4
1
Allgrownup
Trotted evenly in both local
appearances, but appears to have hooked an even tougher crew tonight. Should sit close and will try to hang
around for a piece late. Your
call.
2
Alejandro Hall
Lone 2yo in the field
apparently just missed the $250k KYSS final here on Sunday, after turning in
a solid 3rd place finish behind a couple of nice colts a couple of
weeks back. Barn on a roll, should
continue to improve.
3
Shawnee Wind
Tired late against similar
company last time, and it doesn’t appear that things are going to get any
easier here. Pass.
4
Say What
PA invader has been holding
her own against mid-level stakes company on the east coast, but she is going
to have to find even more stamina to hang with the top ones in here. Miller opted to #8 instead.
5
Touched By Lindy
Comes off what appears to be
an interesting win against overnight company at Plainridge, and appears to pack
some speed when he decides to mind his manners. Maybe a shot at the minor awards.
6
Moreagio
Would need a lot more-agio
to hang with these.
7
Miss Chip K
Appears to have really
turned the corner recently while facing some top fillies on the east
coast. Should continue to improve with
the stretch out to the mile strip.
Must respect.
8
Holier Than Thou
No luck in the big money PASS finals in the last couple, but I
will point out that this filly picked up a check in the $714k Hambo Oaks
earlier in the summer and hung with Check Me Out in the elim. Big shot.
Race 2 Selections 7-5-8-6
1
Thistle Dhu
Has had some breaking
problems thus far in her brief career, and I’ll watch her go around once
first.
2
Ballet Slippers
Finally put in a clean line
last time in local overnight, but would still have to find a lot more speed
to go with the top ones in here.
3
Cashcow Volo
Doesn’t appear to ready to
go with the top ones in here just yet.
Pass.
4
Right Away
A notch below the top
fillies in KYSS action, and may find that to be the case here as well.
5
Find the Magic
Held her own against some of
the top fillies in the country in Jersey,
and should find this spot to be more to her liking. Anything close to her best effort puts her
right in the mix.
6
Rosie’s Warrior
Lightly raced filly may not
be seasoned enough to hang with the top ones in here just yet. I’ll watch for any further improvement. Nisonger opted to #4 instead.
7
Vintage Oaks
Rebounded with a dominant
performance against overnight company at Vernon last time after making a break in
the $150k NJSS final prior. No
question she has the ability if she minds her manners. DM opted to #8 instead.
8
Little Bitty Lies
Made a break last time in
$15k KYSS leg which caused her to miss the big money final. Lands on the outside now, conservative
steer coming? I would assume so. Miller opted here over #7.
Race 3 Selections 3-5-9-6
1
Downpour
Appears to have been used
hard early last time yet still was able to draw clear to an easy win in only
the 2nd start of her career.
Hooks a couple of tough foes tonight, but any further improvement puts
her close. TT opted to #3.
2
Vallas Cowgirl
No luck in 2 overnight tries
in PA, and hooks a solid group for her local debut. Not tonight. Tetrick opted to #3 instead.
3
Miss Steele
Not sure what happened with
the break over the half mile oval last time at Freehold, but she has proven
that she can hang with some of the tops in the country thus far at The Big
M. Plenty of talent here.
4
Lady Likes Muscles
Appears to have landed in
quite the shark tank for her local debut, and barn typically brings them
along slowly. I’ll watch for any
further improvement.
5
Morningstar
Another that has held her
own with top stakes company, and you can see that she actually hooked up with
#3 back on 8-4 in the $354k Merrie Ann. at The Big M. Looks to turn the tables here.
6
Mistery Woman
1st time starter
is a bit of a mystery here, and even though she is likely not ready to go
with the favs she does appear to have a big shot at the minor awards with any
further improvement. Miller opted here
over #9.
7
Perfect Alliance
Recovered fairly well after
an early break last time, but would have to find a lot more speed still to
hang with the top ones in here.
8
Richesse Oblige
2 for 2 over this track now,
but she is yet to prove that she can go with a field like this. Would have to pick things up quite a bit
still.
9
Southwind Sauna
Added hobbles for the
runner-up finish at Freehold in $29k stake last week, finishing behind a VERY
nice filly that we will see in the next race.
I’ll toss her on the ticket for some value underneath. Miller opted to #6.
Race 4 Selections 1-5-9-7
1
Southwind Cocoa
The $150k NJSS Champ ships
in riding a 2 race win streak, and lands on the pole here to try and make it
3 in a row. No question she has plenty
of talent, and a wicked late kick.
Tetrick opted here over #2.
2
Omnipotent
Held her own against
primarily overnight company at Pocono, but asking quite a bit to go with the
top ones in here right now. Tetrick
opted to #1 instead.
3
Karalta Bye Bye
1st time starter
hooks a solid group for her debut, and as previously mentioned, this barn
typically brings youngsters along slowly.
I’ll watch one first.
4
Ivory Queen
Came up only a neck short of
her first career victory last time at Pocono, and would have to pick it up
even more to go with the top fillies in here.
5
With Sugar
Has hooked up with #1 twice
now, and came up on the short end both times.
No question she will be close once again with her best effort
though.
6
Silver Credit
Tired late after being used
hard last time at Freehold, but appears to be one of many with a shot at the
minor awards in here behind the favs.
Beaten less than 5 lengths by #1 back on 8-17 in $150k final.
7
Herculotte Hanover
Handily defeated a field of
older rivals in her local debut, and I will point out that the 2nd
place finisher in there came back to win impressively last week. One of several with a shot underneath.
8
Déjà vu Too
No question this filly has
some talent when she minds her manners, but she has now made breaks in 5 of 7
LT starts. I’m not willing to take the
risk, might be déjà vu all over again here.
Miller opted here over #6.
9
Drink the Wine
Dominated with an easy win
in the $66k Historic Stake last time at Vernon,
and appears to have really rounded into form in the last couple of
starts. Has her work cut out from post
9, but she can go with these.
Race 5 Selections 8-5-7-6
1
Il Pizzaiolo
Regally bred colt was a step
behind his KYSS rivals, and would still need to improve a bit to hang with
the top ones in here as well. Nisonger
opted here over #6.
2
Fashion Glider
An even effort at Philly
last time, but is another that is going to have to pick it up still to hang
with the top ones in this crew. Campbell opted to #5
instead.
3
Text Winner
Picked up some decent checks
against mid-level stakes company in PA, but facing what appears to be an even
tougher group tonight. Not sure if he
can text in a win against these.
4
Cantab Jones
Local Q’fer was decent, but
we haven’t seen him prove he packs the speed to go with the top ones in
here.
5
Possessed Fashion
Finished 3rd last
time as a big longshot in the $200k PA Final, and has proven he can hold his
own against major league company.
Plenty of options from perfect mid-pack post. Must respect. Campbell
opted here over #2.
6
Jacks To Open
NY invader appears to be a
notch below the top ones, but has put together a decent resume against some
tough colts thus far. Potentially a
shot at the minor awards. Nisonger
opted to #1 instead.
7
Sailer Eddie
Talented youngster has hit
the board in 6 of 8 thus far, including a close 2nd place finish
in the $71k Historic last time at Vernon. Not an easy crew he faces in his local
debut, but he can go with these.
8
Spider Blue Chip
Picked a bad time to make a
break in the $200k PA Final last time, and hopefully that is not a sign of
things to come. Should be blasting
early, and is likely the reason Dave Miller is in town.
9
Up Front N Crazy
Doesn’t appear ready to go
with the top ones in here just yet.
I’ll pass for now.
10
Ghost
I can’t remember seeing too
many grey Muscles Yankee colts, but that’s just what we have here. Appeared on the right track before the
break last time, but has his work cut out from way out here. I’ll watch one.
Race 6 Selections 5-2-8-1 Pick 4 Starts Here See Ticket at the end
1
Beach Bandit
Not sure what caused him to
make the break last time, but he had been on the right track prior. Should sit close from the inside post. Your call.
Stiltner opted here over #10.
2
Sandbar Slugger
Got caught up in a big mile
last time, finishing a distant 4th behind the runaway winner. Takes a substantial drop down into the
bottom level here, but likely a short price looming. Not sure I like that.
3
Whersme luckycharms
Appears to have tailed off a
bit in the last couple, after it appeared that he may finally be heading in
the right direction a few starts back.
Could win it on his best day, but that’s hard to predict.
4
Brooklets Kama
I’ll watch him go around
once after being on the shelf 3 months prior to tonight.
5
Jennas Sand Kicker
OH invader is taking a huge
plunge in class for his local debut, and lands in a perfect mid pack
post. We’ve seen several Scioto shippers win at first asking already this
season.
6
Pocket Belle
13yo may be getting a little
long in the tooth, as she is yet to have much success since arriving locally
this season. Hard to endorse her
against these.
7
Frontier Belle
Hasn’t had much pop since
arriving locally, and would take a complete turnaround to make any major
noise against these.
8
Cruise to Fame
I was very impressed with
his local debut 3 starts back, but he has yet to take the next step forward
since that start. Not an overly tough
group here, but still needs his very best.
9
Misconception
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with these right now.
Pass.
10
Blazing Tower
Drops from the claiming
ranks into our bottom condition, and I have a feeling that he will find this
level more to his liking. Certainly
wasn’t done any favors with post 10 tonight though. Stiltner opted to #1 instead.
Race 7 Selections 4-10-7-2
1
Fort Riley
Not ready for these.
2
Kacy’s Photo
Right down the road for an
easy win last time, but appears to have hooked a tougher crew for this level
tonight. Would need to improve even
more.
3
R Bashbul Bob
Drew into the field at the
last minute after a late scratch, and appears to have hooked a solid crew for
his local debut. I’ll watch him go
around once first.
4
Perfect Beauty
Very impressive wire to wire
win in her last try, as she held off #10 fairly easily in there. No reason to think she can’t blast to the
top and repeat that effort here.
5
Glad Glidings
No match for #4 last time,
having to settle for a distant 3rd place finish. Hard to see her turning the tables here,
but could pick up one of the minor awards once again.
6
Victoria Valley
A decent runner-up finish
behind #2 last time, but I must admit that she had every opportunity to go by
her if she had been good enough.
Things aren’t going to get any easier here. Stiltner opted here over #8.
7
Delmot
Press time is before that
Q’fer on 9-11, so take a good look at that line. It would be the 2nd AM work with
hobbles if it goes successfully. Maybe
that will cure the breaking issues, she appears to have some talent.
8
Moma Jean’s Crown
Perfect trip behind #4 last
time, but tired badly down the lane.
Would take a complete turnaround here.
Stiltner opted to #6 instead.
9
Total Enjoyment
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to go with these. Pass.
10
Duck Crossing
Has been 1-2 in 10 of 12
starts on the year, and finished up a game 2nd behind #4 last
time. Likely will leave for better
position once again, but still going to be a tough task to turn the
tables.
Race 8 Selections 4-8-10-7
1
Scootin Keefe
Not munch punch in the small
field last time on the messy track.
Hard to gage off that effort, but I’ll let her try to beat me against
these. Loney opted to #5 instead.
2
HopeN promises
Finished up 3rd
in her local debut 2 starts back, well ahead of #1 that night. Not sure she can contend for the top spot,
but could pick up one of the minor awards once again. Tetrick opted to #3 instead.
3
Tundra
Appears to be improving with
each career start, but still not sure he is ready to hang with the top ones
just yet.
4
Southern Strong
Invaded the Meadows with an
easy overnight score, and now she returns to her home track and appears to be
primed and poised to make it back to back wins. I’m on board.
5
Veloce
Doesn’t appear to pack the speed
to hang with these. Pass. Loney opted here over #’s 1 & 6.
6
It’s True
Cleared to the lead briefly
last time around the far turn at 48-1!
Tired a bit late after the aggressive attempt, and she is still going
to have to find some more stamina to hang around late. Loney opted to #5 instead.
7
Blueridge Casino
His local debut was fairly
solid in from the OH fair circuit, as he raced evenly into a fairly quick
back half to finish 3rd.
Any further improvement puts him in the mix once again.
8
Muncie
Fought willingly down the
lane on the off track to dig in for his first career victory, for a colt that
really appears to be rounding the corner in his last couple. Not an easy spot here, but he is headed in
the right direction.
9
Argon Fire
Finished up an even 4th
behind #8 on the off track last time, and appears to have landed in an even
tougher group and moves to post 9 tonight.
I’ll wait for a better spot.
10
Forever Kissed
Made a break in $25k OHSS
last time in Cleveland,
but sprinted home to rally past #8 for the victory in his local debut 2
starts back. Smith will have to find a
way to work him into the race from way out here though.
Race 9 Selections 3-6-7-4
1
Ultimate Beachboy
Missed over a month now
after having some sickness, but appeared to rebound with a decent AM try over
the half mile oval at Freehold. Hooks
a solid crew though, I’ll watch one first.
2
Twenty to Life
Some even efforts against
overnight company in Philly to begin his career, and he appears to have
hooked an overly tough group for this level in his local debut. I’ll wait for a better spot. Miller opted to #3 instead.
3
Ideal Ginny
Overcame a tough first over
trip last time to pick up a nice 4th place check in the $150k NJSS
final at The Big M. Appears to pack
wicked speed, and no question is the one to beat here. Miller opted here over #2.
4
Mattwestern
Unleashed a nice late rally
to pick up the win at Philly last time, and has hit the board in 5 of 8 thus
far in her brief career. Any similar
effort puts her in the mix once again.
5
Caribbean Treasure
Picked up a decent 5th
place check in the $250k KYSS final, but keep in mind the field was scratched
down to just a field of 5 there. Should
find this level more to her liking, but has hooked a tough crew tonight.
6
Think Pink
Plainridge invader ships in
off back to back wins against overnight company, and should improve even more
with the stretch out to the big track.
Might end up with a nice cover trip from post 6. Maybe.
7
Bach
Held his own against
mid-level stakes company in Indy, but appears to have hooked a solid crew for
his local debut. Would need to improve
even more to go with the fav in here.
8
Dragon Tattoo
Very disappointing effort as
the heavy fav here on Sunday, and it certainly won’t get any easier in much
tougher group tonight. Pass.
9
Dancing in Terror
Romped at The Meadows after
a couple of decent local starts to begin his career. Lands on the outside of tough group here
though, will need to improve even more.
Race 10 Selections 6-3-2-1
1
Bizzaro Lindy
Tired a bit late after a
first over try in the $71k Historic at Vernon. Out of the talented first crop of Crazed,
this guy should continue to improve and lands on the pole tonight in full
field. Maybe.
2
San Donato
Picked up some decent checks
on the lucrative PASS circuit, and actually finished up behind #6 in the $50k
Consolation at The Meadows last time.
His best effort puts him right in the mix against these.
3
Super Classic
Narrowly defeated #1 in the
same stakes division at Vernon
last time, and held his own on the NJSS circuit prior at Club Med. Packs plenty of early speed, and should sit
close to the pace once again.
4
Max Andover
Just like #2, this guy was
narrowly defeated by #6 last time in the $50k Consolation. Appears to be one of several with a big
chance in here.
5
Swift Warrior
Made a break in his career
debut, and it would take a complete turnaround to hang with these. Pass.
6
Picture This
Left hard from post 8 in the
$50k Consolation last time, and still had enough pop on the end of it to get
up in time for the victory. Needs his
very best, but I can picture another good finish here.
7
Lauderdale
Has had some breaking
problems in the AM, but did wedge a blowout Q’fer in between the breaks. Has some ability, but still not sure we can
trust him to mind his manners just yet.
8
Marvenue
Added hobbles in the last AM
try at Pocono, but has yet to display the speed to hang with these.
9
Sharpshot Hall
Made a couple of breaks in
KYSS action locally, and things aren’t going to get any easier from post 9
against a solid crew here. I’ll pass
for now.
10
Andy Revrac
Made a break last time, but
picked up a win in the mid-level stake at Pocono prior. Not sure we will get an ultra aggressive
steer after the miscue though. I’ll
watch closely for any improvement.
Race 11 Selections 8-9-2-4
1
Tactful Way
Well, how do I say this
tactfully? Colt has a TON of ability,
but has made breaks in every single LT start thus far. Do we assume he will be better with the
stretch out to the big track or take a shot and throw him out at a short
price? I’m always looking to beat the
fav.
2
Bullish
Picked up some solid checks
against tough company on the PASS circuit to begin his career. Hasn’t offered to make a break to this
point, and appears to always show up with a nice effort. I can make a case.
3
Icy Chisel
All kinds of breaking
problems thus far, and I’m not sure he will be able to break the ice in this
spot.
4
Creatine
Not sure why he made the
break last time, but was dominant against overnight company in his prior
local start. No question he is taking
a step up here, but any further improvement should put him close to
these.
5
All Laid Out
Debuted with a nice 2nd
place finish over an off track at Pocono, but he ends up in much tougher
company tonight for his 2nd try.
Would have to pick it up quite a bit still.
6
Amalfi Coast
Made a break as a big
longshot in the $71k stake last time at Vernon,
but had been competitive against solid company on the east coast prior. Possibly a conservative steer here though
coming off the break.
7
Tuff Guy Lindy
Closed from far back to trim
the margin to less than 3 lengths and pick up a 5th place check in
stakes company in his last try at Vernon.
Any further improvement puts him squarely in the mix.
8
Cashco
Appears to pack plenty
enough early speed to overcome post 8, and he has hit the board in 5 o f 8
thus far in his brief career. Should
sit close, and will likely hang around for a nice piece late.
9
Whole Lotta Nasty
Yet to miss the board in 7
career tries, and is another that appears to pack plenty enough early speed
to overcome post 9. Catch him if you
can. Tetrick opted here over #4.
10
Apollo Hanover
Made breaks in 2 of his 3 LT
starts, and now gets slammed with post 10 in an ultra competitive crew. I’ll watch him go around once first.
Race 12 Selections 4-11-6-8-10 10 CENT HI FIVE
WAGERING
1
Megawatt
Hasn’t had much success
against claiming company since arriving locally, and appears to have landed
in another solid crew in full 11 horse field.
I’ll wait for a better spot.
2
Tricky Grin
I’ll have to admit that I
wasn’t a huge fan of his last time, but he was able to mow down #6 after
sitting in mid-pack in the small 5 horse field for his 1st win of
the year. A major improvement, but
won’t be that easy here.
3
Jaxx
Completely pinned in with no
place to race 2 starts back, so I was all over him last time and he never
even made it to the gate before going offstride. What should we expect here? Your guess is as good as mine.
4
Hezasonof eclipse
Battled for a long way after
a tough first over trip last time, and there is no question this guy has
really rounded into the best form of his season over the last few
starts. Any similar effort puts him
close once again.
5
Mor Than Enuf Russ
Held his own in the claiming
ranks recently, and might be in line for a nice cover trip from perfect
mid-pack post in full field. Still
going to need his very best. Loney
opted here over #10.
6
Catalina Kid
Took a mysterious plunge in
class last time, and couldn’t get the job done in small field as the 3-5
fav. Things won’t get any easier in
full field here. Needs even more.
7
Theshadow nose
Drops down into the $2.5k
claiming ranks for the first time, but I’ll still let him prove that he can
go with these. Should find this level
more to his liking though.
8
Fox Valley Michael
Disappointed as the fav in
his last couple of starts, as he hasn’t been able to duplicate the big win he
had 3 starts back here. Still fits
with these, should be close with a smooth journey. Tetrick opted here over #2.
9
Fortune Road
Lands in post 9 after
getting scratched lame in his last.
Not a great combo.
10
SBD First Blood
Appears to have rounded the
corner in his last couple of local starts, and may have finished up a little
better last time if he had found clearance sooner. Still not going to be easy from way out
here though. Loney opted to #5.
11
Crazy Dan
No excuse to not fight off
his longshot rival last time, but it still wasn’t a bad effort to be a close
