Red Mile Race Reviews

Thursday, October 3rd

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                1-3-6

1

Fashion Huntress

Shocked that my lock of the night last Thursday ended up paying $8.80, but it was obviously a bit tighter finish than I anticipated as well.  Lands in another manageable spot here, no doubt the one to beat.

2

Muscle Babe

($15k Lex yearling) Chi-town invader rode the cones en route to a decent 3rd place finish in the American National, but would likely still need to pick things up a bit to contend for the major awards here.  RP opted to #7.

3

Ruby

($29k HB yearling) In the midst of a solid 2yo campaign, hitting the board in 7 of 8 starts thus far in her brief career.  Her best effort should put her close once again in here.

4

Dress for Success

($18k Lex yearling) Finished up far behind #1 last time, and might still be asking a bit much for her to hang with the top ones in here right now.

5

Dancing Dynamite

($17k HB yearling) Has proven that she has some talent, but has also had her fair share of breaking problems to go along with it.  Hard for me to jump on board after breaking in 3 of the last 4.

6

Ravine

($32k Lex yearling) Overmatched in the World Record mile against stakes fillies here last week, but should enjoy the drop down to LC action this afternoon.  Must respect.

7

Pray With Me

($10k Lex yearling) Hammered down as the 2-1 betting fav here last week, but couldn’t hang with her rivals down the lane in a disappointing 5th place finish.  Likely blasting out early, should sit close.  Your call.

Race 2                     Selections                                4-1-9

1

Held in Balance

A notch below his rivals in a fairly tough spot here last week, but appears to have hooked a much more manageable spot in overnight today.  Still needs his absolute very best punch.

2

Coverlet

Put together a solid campaign on the OH Fair Circuit this season, banking over $20k and racking up 9 wins.  Not an overly tough group here, she fits with these.

3

Hi Class Holly

Holly has had all sorts of breaking problems this season, including last time even after adding the hobbles 2 starts back.  I’ll pass.

4

Exquisite Glide

Shows absolutely crushing #1 back on 8-1 at Scioto, but has gone off the tracks a bit since then.  I suppose I can give him a chance to turn things around in his debut over the red clay.  Maybe.

5

Dominant Dude

Doesn’t appear ready for these at this point.  Pass.

6

Maitresse Lavec

Making her debut for new barn after 2 AM efforts, but I don’t see much to get overly excited about just yet.

7

Young Gunner

($20k Lex yearling) Trotted evenly to finish 3rd behind solid foes here in the AM, but has had his share of breaking problems prior.  Which Gunner shows up here?  Not sure.

8

Deweys cheatingirl

($20k HB yearling) Connections obviously thought enough of her to put her in $96k stake here last week, where she made yet another break.  If you can’t stay trotting, you can’t win at any level.

9

Keepsake Hanover

($70k HB yearling) Blasted out from far outside here last week, only to tire down the lane after blazing through some quick fractions.  BIG drop in class today.  No question she will be leaving once again.

Race 3                     Selections                                4-9-6

1

Secluded Beach

($50k HB yearling) You could say she had a bit of traffic trouble in the lane last week, but did find room up the inside and was clear at mid-stretch.  Should be sitting much closer tonight, needs her very best still.

2

Surfside Sexy

($35k HB yearling) Tired down the lane after getting caught up in that wicked early pace.  Still not quite sure she is ready to hang with the top ones in here just yet.

3

One Jazzy Lady

($8k Lex yearling) Powered to the lead at the top of the lane here last week, but couldn’t fend off #’s 6 & 9 down the lane.  Not a bad effort, but still going to need more stamina.

4

Vitameata vegamin

($15k Lex yearling) If you didn’t see her race last week, I would URGE you to go back and watch the replay.  She lost a TON of ground, yet still rallied nicely late.  Live longshot?  I think so.

5

Bikinis on Top

Shuffled back briefly at the top of the lane here last week when #2 packed it in, but still not sure it would’ve made much difference.  Needs more.

6

It Was Fascination

She raced well last week, but really no excuse not to hold off #9 for the win after a perfect 2nd over trip.  If she couldn’t beat her off those circumstances, I’m not sure I’m willing to come back at a short price here.

7

Rock Groupie

($4k Lex yearling) Left the group early last week after the break at the start.  I’ll pass.

8

Boxed Chocolates

($11k Lex yearling) Rough gaited from the outset last week, but did show some major league speed taking the field to the half in 54.2.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

9

Temptation Hanover

($55k HB yearling) Perfect trip following up #6 last week, and unleashed a furious rally down the lane to get by her in the final stride.  DM will have to find a way to work her into the race from way out here.

Race 4                     Selections                                5-7-4-6                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Well Maid

($50k Lex yearling) Offstride last week, and retains longshot status this afternoon.  Pass.

2

Sectionline Aqua

Got caught in an impossible spot here last week, and paced home evenly with her rivals from far back.  Should be sitting much closer tonight from post 2, maybe a shot to land on the ticket at a solid price.

3

Hello My Dream

($2k Lex yearling) Sprinted home evenly with her rivals after a picture perfect journey following #4 in the cover flow.  Not sure things are going to work out that perfectly for her here.

4

She’s Dangerous

($80k HB yearling – highest WI sold at auction in ’12) Roughed up a bit here last time, launching a first over bid against #7.  Still a solid effort, any smoother journey puts her right in the mix.

5

Luxuriant Hanover

($60k HB yearling) If you are looking for some value, here is your chance.  Had some sneaky late pace on the end of that mile last week in only her 2nd career try.  Might get perfect trip here behind #4.  I’m on board.

6

Fresh Look

Had room to rally up the inside here last week, but could only manage a 3rd place finish even after sprinting home in 27 seconds.  Should continue to improve in only her 3rd LT start.

7

Ken Doll J

($45k HB yearling) Heads up drive by Tetrick last week to sweep to the lead up the backstretch, holding sway until deep stretch.  Any similar effort should put her very close once again.

8

Blazing Blaire

($10k HB yearling) Lightly raced filly has a tough assignment against this crew.  Pass for now.

9

Rock A My Baby

Put together a nice rally after adding lasix last time at Hoosier but steps up to take on a much better crew today and lands in outside post.  Would still need to pick things up a bit more.  Campbell opted to #5 instead.

10

Truth is Big

Came up a bit short down the lane against many of these same rivals last week, and things aren’t going to get any easier after landing on the far outside this afternoon.  Pass.

Race 5                     Selections                                5-1-4-8                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Rockenon Broadway

($22k Lex yearling) Very frustrating young filly here, we know she has the ability but also likes to make breaks.  Broke in the midst of a BIG move here last week.  I’m willing to try once more.

2

Lifetime Pursuit

($60k Lex yearling) Put together a remarkable resume to begin her career on the east coast, but she was offstride and far back here last time at the start.  Not quite sure she is heading in the right direction.  YG chose over #6.

3

Tweet Me

($60k HB yearling) No chance after getting caught up in the World Record mile here last week, but had put together a solid campaign on the mid-level PA circuit prior.  Count me in as a follower.  DM opted to #5.

4

Goddess

($110k HB yearling) Broke a hobble around the first turn last week which caused her to make a break.  I would anticipate a big effort from her this afternoon.  Maybe.

5

Struck by Lindy

($32k HB yearling) Parlayed a perfect pocket ride into a dominant win against stakes company last week, and appears to have landed in another manageable spot here.  Anything similar makes her the one to beat.

6

Juniata Hanover

($10.5k Adios yearling) Already banked over $94k this season, but I’m still not convinced she is ready to go with the top ones in this spot.  Not today.  Gingras opted to #2 instead.

7

Bikini So Teeny

($12k Lex yearling) Well beaten by #5 last time out, I could only consider her for the minor awards once again.

8

Game On Hanover

($50k HB yearling) Ended up a decent 4th behind a solid trio here last time in big mile, but unfortunately lands on the far outside this afternoon.  Doesn’t appear to have a lot of early speed, likely going to be far back early.

Race 6                     Selections                                6-8-1                       Starts the $10,000 Guaranteed Pick 4   See Ticket at the end

1

Spit for Spat

($10k HB yearling) Rebounded with a solid 2nd place finish in behind #8 here last week.  Should sit very close once again after landing on the pole.  Any similar effort puts her in play once again.

2

Medallist

($8k Lex yearling) Decent effort here last week, but likely going to have to pick things up a bit still to contend for top honors.  I could consider her underneath only.  D. Miller opted to #8 instead.

3

SJ’s Proposal

Perfect trip last time, trotting home evenly to finish up a fairly close 4th.  Not a bad effort, but that is about the best I could see for her once again.

4

Dynamite Honey

($80k HB yearling – highest EM sold at auction in ’12) Picture perfect journey last time, and trotted home evenly behind her rivals to be 3rd.  Still going to have to pick things up a bit.  Pierce chose her over #6.

5

Miss Walco

($1.5k Indy yearling) Took full advantage of a perfect trip to get the job done last time at Hoosier, but faces what is likely a tougher group here this afternoon.  Going to have to pick things up a bit still.

6

Bambino Supreme

($77k Lex yearling – highest BH sold at auction in ’12) Appeared to have some late trot last time before making yet another break in the stretch drive.  Still think there is some talent if she can hold things together.

7

Hot Springs

($120k HB yearling) Not quite as sharp here last week as she was in the start prior, but I suppose that could be expected with the time off for sickness in between.  Needs her very best here.

8

Scully Sas

Heavy fav zipped to the lead on the backstretch last week, and even though she drifted out a bit down the lane still won fairly easily over #1.  Won’t be as easy from post 8 I’m sure, but any smooth journey puts her close.

9

Pink Marble

($27k Lex yearling) Hasn’t proven she packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here yet.  Pass.

Race 7                     Selections                                8-4-2-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Evolution of Dance

($2k Lex yearling) No match for her rivals here last week, and can’t see things getting any easier in here.

2

Danica

Wrapped up winner under the wire last week against a fairly soft crew, but I think she might have hooked a bit better group this afternoon.  I’ll look for more value elsewhere.

3

Oh Oh Its Glide

($30k HB yearling) Lost all chance with the early break last time, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

4

Sincerely Yours

Battled the eventual winner first over last time, holding on well down the lane to be 3rd.  Appears to have rounded in form over the last few starts, should make some noise with any better journey.

5

Amazing Marie

You might want to take a look and see how Miss Walco did in the last race, because that’s who slightly beat this filly in her last start at Delaware.  Should pick up a bit with the stretch out to the mile oval.

6

Southwind Alice

($23k HB yearling) Trotted evenly against a solid crew here last week, but still going to need to pick things up a bit to contend for the major awards.

7

Fortunes of Fables

($60k HB yearling) Well placed before the break here last week, but it’s hard to jump on board this afternoon with 3 consecutive breaks coming in to today.  I’ll watch this one.

8

Mystical Wishes

I was very impressed with her effort here last week, finishing up a close 2nd in behind a filly that launched a vicious late rally.  Should continue to improve here in her 2nd start for new barn.  I’m on board.

Race 8                     Selections                                8-1-7

1

Graceful Kelly

($145k HB yearling – highest MY sold at auction in ’12) I am still convinced this is a talented filly, even if she continues to try and prove me wrong each week.  Lands on the pole tonight, just needs to stay flat.

2

Credit to Elgin

($35k Lex yearling) Appears overmatched against these right now.  Pass.  Callahan opted to #8 instead.

3

Paris Metro

($75k HB yearling) Shuffled back a bit at the top of the lane here last week, before finally shaking loose late to finish up a distant 3rd.  I could see her in play for the minor awards once again.

4

Baby Shaq

($100k Lex yearling) Severely lacking stamina at this point.  Would take a complete turnaround here.

5

Samba Gal

($70k Lex yearling) A touch better here last week, but still going to need to find a bit more to contend for the major awards.

6

Candy Stash

($6k HB yearling) Should continue to improve here in her 2nd LT start, but not sure she is ready for these just yet.

7

Alwaysin blackpedia

Put together a solid stretch rally here last week to finish 2nd behind the heavy fav, and anything similar to that should put her in play once again.  Maybe.

8

Love Talk

($30k HB yearling) Unleashed a vicious rally from far back at the top of the lane to roar past her rivals en route to the victory down the lane.  I don’t think they can beat her if she keeps her mind on business.

9

Mystic Illusion

($16k Lex yearling) Placed forward as the winner in local overnight in her career debut, after the horse that went by her in the stretch made a break.  Should continue to improve.

Race 9                     Selections                                2-5-8-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Vanity Matters

($47k HB yearling) Spoiled a nice trip here last week with the break, but should be sitting close again today after landing on the inside.  Still needs her very best.  Gingras opted here over #’s 4 & 9.

2

Heaven’s Door

($90k HB yearling) Kept her mind on business here last week, blazing through some solid fractions before tiring just a bit down the lane to finish 2nd.  Lands in what appears to be a nice div for her.  Must respect.

3

Royal Tabs

($9k Lex yearling) Banked over $44k on the PASS circuit this season, but still not convinced she is ready to take on top level stakes company.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.

4

Highest Peak

($40k Lex yearling) Lost all chance with the early break here last week, looks like a tough spot for her still.

5

Scream and Shout

($60k HB yearling) Had been a model of consistency all season prior to the $367k Peaceful Way stake in Canada.  Appeared to bounce back with a nice local Q’fer, I’ll look for a good effort today.

6

Noon Tea Party

($22k Tatt yearling) Packs plenty of early speed, but not sure she is going to have the stamina to hang with these.  I will say she does show a solid 2nd place finish behind LP back on 8-21.  Your call.

7

Fastlane Anover

($35k HB yearling) Lands in a much softer div than she faced here last week, but still going to have to pick things up a bit to contend for the major awards.

8

Herroyal highness

($60k Lex yearling) Trotted evenly to finish 4th here a week ago, and now lands on the outside of a similar crew.  Has proven that she can hold her own against top level stakes company.  Must respect.

9

Backorder

($20k HB yearling) Looked rough gaited throughout before finally making a break here last week.  Not today.

Race 10                   Selections                                1-3-2-5-8                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Chivaree Hanover

($12k Lex yearling) Bargain yearling has turned out to be a great purchase for Team McNair, fending off some tough fillies down the lane here last week.  Peaking at the right time.  Must respect.

2

A Sundae on Sunday

($45k HB yearling) Gave #1 a run for her money down the lane here last week, but had to settle for a close 3rd after an aggressive move.  Lands on the inside here, should be sitting much closer.

3

Cee Bee Yes

($45k HB yearling) Perfect trip after releasing #1 to the lead here last week, and parlayed that into a close 2nd place finish.  Has hit the board in every start with the exception of one break.  Big threat.

4

Outsourced Hanover

($27k Lex yearling) Finished up a distant 5th in World Record mile here last week, and should find this crew to be a bit more to her liking.  Still needs her absolute very best.  Gingras opted here over #5.

5

Red Hot Spicy

Popped up with a big effort 2 starts back in Kindergarten action, but came back to tire a bit after trying out the front end last time.  Fairly wide open crew here.  Your call.  Gingras opted to #4 instead.

6

Thisgirlison fire

($24k HB yearling) Trotted evenly against tough company recently, but likely still a notch or two below the top ones in here.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

7

Demoiselle Hanover

($55k HB yearling) Flashed some improvement after adding hobbles in the AM here last week, and keep in mind that was a mixed Q’fer against pacers as well.  I’ll watch one under the lights first.  Pierce opted here over #8.

8

Grammas Girl

($35k Lex yearling) Made a break here last week while following in behind the 2 favs, a solid 2nd prior to that in the $367k Peaceful Way stake.  Needs a big rebound here.  Pierce opted to #7 instead.
