Red Mile Nightly Selections

Thursday, August 28, 2014

Track Handicapper- Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                                 Selections                                                5-3-1-6

1

Call Me Elizabeth

Liz has hit the board in 8 of 10 on the season, and had been racing well locally prior to the ‘sick’ scratch last time.  Will we get her best effort here?  I’m not sure.

2

Goodtimin Cam

Misfired completely last time, and never looked comfortable throughout the mile.  No question he has the talent to go with these, but it would take a complete turnaround in only 7 days.

3

Skyway Titan

Got caught up in a huge mile last time against tougher rivals, but drops back into a spot where he should have some success.  Finished a solid 2nd in behind #5 back on 8-7.  I would expect something similar here.

4

Martine

Was pretty good up in Delaware earlier this spring, but arrives into tonight off an average Q’fer and over 2 months on the shelf.  Probably going to need a start before we get her best shot.

5

Velocity Driven

Another dominant win here last week, now 2 for 2 locally.  Barn has had 8 winners in only 13 starts, I see no reason they won’t ring up another here.  Put a circle around him.

6

Racey Daisey

Rode the cones to a distant 4th place finish in behind #5 last time, and I could consider her in play for the minor awards once again.

Race 2                                 Selections                                                3-4-6-1

1

Double A’s Bell

Lands in what appears to be a fairly manageable spot tonight for her career debut after a decent local Q’fer.  Wouldn’t take much more improvement off that AM work to put her in play here.  Your call.

2

Piscataway

Held her own with a decent group of KY Fair Fillies this season, but would likely still need to pick things up to contend for the major awards here.

3

Unbroken Circle

Barn was firing on all cylinders here on Sunday, and this filly lands in what should be the easiest spot she has faced to this point in her brief career.  I’m willing to jump on board.

4

Rocky Express

Conservatively handled in his local debut, and should continue to improve here in his second try over the red clay.  Looks to be one of many with a shot in WIDE open crew.

5

Art’s Imagination

Packed it in last time after getting caught up chasing the runaway winner, but lands in what appears to be a much softer group tonight.  No question he is blasting early, probably won’t face much pressure up top.  Maybe.

6

Whata Pacific

Rode the cones to a decent 4th place finish in his career debut, and is another that should continue to improve.  Any further improvement puts him squarely in the mix.

7

Double Bogey

We’ll give him a mulligan for that first local start, tiring badly after an aggressive try.  No question an easier group here, likely blasting out early.  Maybe.

8

Idontthank youcan

Continues to show improvement with each start, but will have to find a way to work into it after landing on the far outside.  Won’t be easy, maybe a shot at the minor awards.

Race 3                                 Selections                                                4-5-6-3

1

Hotunder theCollar

Fired a blank against tough company in his local debut, but lands on the pole here in what should be a much better spot for him.  Needs a big rebound.

2

Best of the Best

Very disappointed with her effort as the big fav here on Sunday, and it’s hard for me to jump back on the bandwagon after seeing that.  Pass.

3

River Runs Deep

Lightly raced 3yo flashed some talent in his freshman campaign, and appears to be heading in the right direction after a sizzling final quarter in the local Q’fer.  Probably going to save ground, look to rally late.

4

Velocity Headlight

Unleashed a huge rally here on Sunday, sprinting away from his rivals down the lane.  Steps up a notch, but he is in career best form right now.  2 for 2 locally.  Must respect.

5

Checkout Terror

Big first over effort to score the victory against solid overnight company at The Meadows off the brief layoff in convincing fashion.  Lands in a spot where she should have some success once again.

6

My Roberto

Rounded the corner over the last couple of local tries, and I would expect him to be sitting back early and looking to pounce on his rivals late once again.  Logical contender.

Race 4                                 Selections                                                2-1-6-4

1

Ms Perfect Circle

Winless in 21 starts on the season, but NY invader lands in what is likely the easiest spot she has seen in quite some time.  Should sit close after landing on the pole.  Big shot.

2

Gunslinger’s Lady

Skimmed the cones here last week en route to the 13-1 upset in a LT best.  No question she has picked things up since changing barns 2 starts back.  Looking to make it back to back.

3

Towne’s BrightLight

Finished up an even 5th against better company here on Sunday, but still going to need to pick things up a bit to contend for the major awards.

4

I Be Da One

Keep in mind it was not a tough group last time, but she was an EASY winner in there, much easier than it looks on paper.  Likely looking to put together another late rally here.  Maybe.

5

Itsallabout tonight

Decent against similar company earlier this summer in Chicago, but hasn’t seemed to fire his best shot since joining new barn prior to Northfield efforts.  Coming off a scratched ‘sick’ as well.   Not a good combo.

6

Doc’s Suzie

Ended up tiring in deep stretch after an aggressive try last time, but hooks what is probably an overall easier group here tonight.  Likely blasting out early once again.  Maybe.

7

Iknow Everything

Overmatched in his local tries to this point.  I don’t know everything, but I know that I can’t endorse him against this crew.  Pass.

Race 5                                 Selections                                                1-3-6-7

1

Catch That Angel

Tired a bit late last time after launching an aggressive first over try around the far turn.  Still a pretty solid local debut, and now drops in for the claiming tag in WIDE open crew.  I could make a case here.

2

Art Genta

Shown some good late pace on the end of his miles here recently, and should be sitting much closer after landing on the inside in short field.  Maybe.  Nisonger opted to #5 instead.

3

No Oil Paint

No match for the favorite last time, but did kick in to gear down the stretch for a solid 2nd at this level and dodges FVL tonight as well.  One of several with a shot, demand value with whomever you choose.  Bolon opted to #6 instead.

4

Hanks Kid

Parlayed a perfect trip into a close 2nd place finish here last time at the $5k level, and now takes a slight dip down in for a $3.5k tag.  Still going to need his very best shot though.  Tough group.

5

Odd Man Out

I was actually a pretty big fan of this guy over the winter in South Fla, but not really sure what to think as he arrives into town after a fresh claim.  Hasn’t been racing regularly prior.  I’ll watch one first.  Nisonger opted here over #’s 2 & 7.

6

Big Bear Bow

RAZOR sharp right now, making it back to back wins in the 2 fastest miles of his career.  Gets the slight nod as the fav in contentious crew.  I’ll look for a bit more value elsewhere, but he fits.  Bolon opted here over #3.

7

Paul the Powerful

Paul never got involved in that last start.  Loves to unleash that late kick down our long homestretch, and should be surging late once again.  Nisonger opted to #5 instead.

Race 6                                 Selections                                                9-6-5                                    Start of the Pick 4                              See Ticket at the End

1

Fairground Drama

Rode the cones to an even 4th place finish last week, and I could consider her for the minor awards only once again.

2

Improper Invasion

Came up empty in his first local invasion, and I can’t see things getting any easier here.  Pass.

3

Bet I Strike

A couple of 4th place finishes to this point against similar company, and that is about the best I could envision for him once again.

4

Foxy Polar

No threat locally to this point, appears overmatched once again.  Pass.

5

Maggies Bed

Freshman filly added hobbles for that last AM effort, and did show a bit of improvement.  Still not sure she packs enough speed to hang with the top ones just yet, but should continue to improve.

6

Fox Valley Shout

Edged past #9 here last week to pull off the biggest upset so far of the season at 48-1!  If you missed the party at that price (I did), hard to show up for what could be the funeral at MUCH shorter price tonight.

7

Shawnee Gold

Added Lasix prior to that last try, but came up empty as the fav after a perfect trip.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit still to nail home a victory.  Needs more.

8

Jailhouse Heart

We are probably looking at a conservative steer here after making a break last time against mid-level stakes company in PA.  I’ll watch her go around once first.

9

Enchilada As

Went down in flames at 1-9 last week to #6, who was clearly the best trotter that night.  Should provide a bit more value here though, I’ll look for her to rebound.

10

My Lucky Princess

The Princess is unlucky in the post draw department once again, and faded badly after a perfect trip in behind #9 here last week.  Nisonger back in town for the drive now, maybe she will pick it up a bit.

Race 7                                 Selections                                                7-9-8-3

1

Storms Beach Babe

Hasn’t threatened against similar company in the last couple of tries, hard to see things getting any easier here.  Needs more still.  Shehan opted here over #2.

2

Beach Talkin

Absolutely perfect trip here last time, but could only manage a 4th place finish at the end of the day.  Likely in line for another good journey after landing on the inside.  I look for her to be close once again.  Shehan opted to #1 instead.

3

Electric Pet

No match for her rivals in straight NW1 last time, but lands back in a NW to be claimed tonight which should be much more manageable for her.  No question she fits with these.  Maybe.  Loney opted here over #5.

4

Roscoe

Never threatened after sitting far back last time, but likely going to be put in play much sooner after landing in mid-pack post tonight.  Still going to need to pick things up a bit.

5

Dirty Lucy

Tired after a tough trip here last time, and still sporting an 0 for 42 LT record.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.  Loney opted to #3 instead.

6

Springhouse Ms Mac

Finally flashed some improvement, but still appears a notch or two below the top ones in here.  Pass.

7

Lion of Judah

Flying on the end of it last time, missing second by a matter of inches and only beaten 1 ½ lengths for the whole thing.  If RW can find a way to work him into the race, he should be a major player.

8

Hoosier Frankee

Has rounded the corner in his 2 local tries, and now lands in for a claiming tag for the first time in his career.  Might end up with a perfect trip following #7 up.  Needs his very best.

9

Lucky Duke

Looked and raced much better here last week, nearly taking them all the way before getting mowed down in deep stretch.  No question he will be blasting out once again from way out here.

10

The Hit Lady

Hasn’t had anything to offer locally to this point.  The longest of longshots.

Race 8                                 Selections                                                4-1-5-2

1

OhNoYou Didn’t

Has been on the improve here locally against some tough rivals, and gets some major class and post relief tonight on the plunge into our bottom level.  Her best effort puts her squarely in the mix against these.

2

Kesons Avaia

Tired after a first over try here last time, but I still think she could have some success here at this level.  Has been 1-2 in 9 of 18 starts on the season.  Should provide value if you want to toss her underneath on exotics.

3

Ashley Force

Wasn’t overly impressive in her lone local start, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  Pass.  Nisonger opted to #6.

4

Caribbean Girl

Note she encountered some major traffic trouble down the lane in that last try, or she may have ended up pulling off the upset.  Lands back in a perfect mid-pack post, should be a nice price.  I’m on board.  Bolon opted here over #7.

5

Rusty’s Treasure

2 sharp efforts at this level since being claimed 2 starts back, coming up only a head short of #8 in that last try.  Anything similar should put her very close once again.

6

You Raise Me Up

Local Q’fer wasn’t anything to write home about, I’ll watch one before jumping on board.  Nisonger opted here over #3.

7

Rockamabella

Note the barn change tonight, but she has come up empty in both local tries to this point.  Would take a complete turnaround here.  Bolon opted to #4 instead.

8

Sweet Inspiration

Noble willed her home last time after a tough first up trip for a barn that has been red hot through the first half of the meet.  Needs her very best once again.

9

Riverlea Hanover

Didn’t seem to have that same pop on the end of it last time as we had seen from her in prior local efforts.  Slammed with outside post tonight as well, won’t be easy.

Race 9                                 Selections                                                3-7-2-1

1

MyArtBlngs ToDaddy

Caught in a blind switch at the top of the lane here last week, but eventually came flying on the end of it after shaking loose.  Lands on the pole tonight in against similar company.  Major player.  Bolon opted here over #’s 4 & 6.

2

Really Sexy Guy

Absolutely no excuse as the fav here last week, just wasn’t good enough to hold off his rival late and had to settle for 2nd.  That being said, still a decent effort and anything similar puts him close once again.

3

Sweet Fancy Moses

Had some sneaky late pace on the end of that mile last time, and I suspect we will get a much more aggressive steer here after landing on the inside.  I’m on board.

4

Posey Patch

No threat against similar company in her first local try, would have to pick things up quite a bit still.  Pass.  Bolon opted to #1 instead.

5

Island Questor

Came flying home in the finale here on Sunday, blowing up everyone’s 20 Cent Super Hi-Five, (plug: $2,518 Carryover in tonight’s last race) after finishing 2nd at 98-1!  Anything similar puts him close once again.

6

Keene Angelic

OH invader lands in competitive crew here for her local debut, but is one of several with a shot here in WIDE open field.  Your call.  Bolon opted to #1 instead.

7

Arringarosa

Got used VERY hard in his only local try back on 8-3, and still raced well to finish 3rd.  Any smoother journey makes him a logical contender, has had plenty of success here in the past.

8

Fox Valley Smooch

Only 1 for 46 over the last couple of seasons, and appears to have hooked a tough group for her local debut.  Not tonight.

9

Sea Bug

Completely packed it in last time, would have to find a LOT more to hang with these.  Pass for now.

10

Rountuit Bluegrass

Hasn’t proven he packs the speed to hang with these, and wasn’t done any favors after landing way out in post 10.  Pass.

Race 10                              Selections                                                2-5-8-1

1

Blazing Tower

Rallied up to finish a close 2nd in behind #8 last time at 16-1.  Still winless on the season, but does have 8 underneath finishes in 11 tries.  I could consider him for the minor awards once again.

2

Call Him Clint

Clint is going to fly a bit under the radar in here, but he raced very well to be 3rd in his local debut in behind a couple of solid rivals.  Should continue to improve, I’m willing to take a flier on the drop down in class.

3

Catmando

Disappointed badly as the fav last time at this level, but I’m still not convinced he does his best work on the lead.  Likely going to revert back to off the pace tactics here.  Still needs his very best though.

4

King Z Tam

A decent 4th place finish here last week in behind #8, but keep in mind he is 0 for 45 over the last couple of seasons.  I could consider him for the minor awards only once again.

5

Beeeyou uuuuu

Plenty of back class here for the 9yo that has won 20 of 80 LT starts, and getting close to a quarter of a million in earnings.  Shuffled back badly in his first local try, but put together a late rally to be 3rd.  Lots to like.

6

Hillcrest Domingo

Has picked things up quite a bit over his last couple tries, but still going to need to find some more stamina to fend off his rivals late.  Needs his absolute very best.

7

Armbro Domi

Nothing to offer locally to this point.  Appears overmatched once again.  Not for me.

8

Sanjoramy

Unleashed a big late kick to power past his rivals here last time, and I would expect another similar effort after landing in outside post.  Major player.

Race 11                              Selections                                                5-4-8-3

1

Fortune Road

Stamina has been the major concern here recently, would have to find a LOT more still.  Pass.

2

Theshadow Nose

Took his best shot last time out, but unable to fend off his rivals down the lane.  Lands in what should be a similar spot here, I could consider him for the minor awards only.

3

SweetLittle Heart

Raced evenly against similar company last time at this level, another one that is likely in play for the minor awards once again.

4

Camp Counselor

Came up empty here as the fav last week, but takes a plunge into our bottom level now in what should be a much more manageable spot for the Counselor.  Still going to need his very best though.

5

Mighty McArthur

Actually had a little pop on the end of that last mile as a big longshot, and now drops to face much easier company here.  Should continue to improve, I’m on board.

6

Endeavors Moment

No threat against bottom level claiming company to this point, going to need to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any of the major awards.

7

Lady Cambest

Flattened out badly down the lane here last time at this level, and we really haven’t seen her come with her best effort to this point.  Note the barn change here.

8

Feys Blitzen Grey

Grey gladiator was sharp here in the AM, and dives down to take on bottom level conditioned company.  I would expect him to be firing late from far back.  Maybe underneath.

9

I’ve Got a Feeling

Came up empty in both of her local tries to this point, and not sure things are going to get any easier after getting slammed with outside post.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement, I don’t have a feeling just yet….

Race 12                              Selections                                                6-9-2-1

1

She Shell Cruise

Finished up an even 4th against similar company the only time we saw her locally, and should be in line for a nice trip after landing on the inside.  I could consider her for the minor awards once again.

2

The Machster

Raced much better than I expected in his local debut, as he attempted to bottom out the field with a down the road effort before tiring in the final 1/8.  I would expect another aggressive try here.  Maybe.

3

Presidential Sam

Sam came up a bit empty late last time after being used hard early.  Comes right back at the same level, he definitely fits with these.  Your call.

4

Mattox’s Western

Flashed some improvement here last time, coming up only a head short of nailing the favorite in the final strides.  Steps back up a notch now though.  Might be asking a bit much against this crew still.

5

Luminous Lombo

Should have a quick pace to close into after landing in a crew filled with early speed, but still going to need his very best kick to make any major noise.  Maybe.

6

Blueridge Orion

Encountered a TON of traffic trouble in the stretch drive here last time, and gets some class relief tonight as well.  Looks to be primed and poised for a drop and pop here!  I like him a lot!

7

Bar B’s Apache Cam

I was a bit disappointed in that first local try, and he would have to find a lot more in the tank still to contend for the major awards.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

8

Noha

Hasn’t fired his best shot over the last few tries, but does get a bit of class relief tonight into what should be an easier crew.  Might wake him up a bit.

9

Goldstar Patriot D

Has shown some improvement over his last few local appearances, and appears to be one of many with a shot at the minor awards in here behind the fav.  Should provide some value from way out here.

Race 13                              Selections                                                2-5-7-10-4                                                                        $2,518 Carryover                                20-Cent Super Hi Five

1

Hero of My Dreams

The Hero of My Dreams would be myself if we could find a way to nail home this 20-Cent Super Hi-Five w/$2,518 carryover tonight for a monster payout.  OH invader looks to have landed in a fairly comfortable spot.  Maybe.

2

Nomad

Looked like he was probably going to be 2nd here last week before making a break in mid-stretch.  Would’ve been no shame in that finish, should bounce back with a solid effort here if he keeps his mind on business.

3

Rose’s Cyclone

The Cyclone hasn’t caused much damage since blowing into town.  Needs more.

4

Bosco’s Angel

Has been knocking on the door here recently, but appears to be facing a bit better group tonight.  Should blast out early and be in line for a nice trip though.  I could consider her for the minor awards.

5

Big Cookie

3 Consecutive defeats as the post time fav against similar.  Likely going to be the fav in this crew again as well, do you really want to accept a short price on her?  Should be close nonetheless.

6

Massasauga

Racing evenly against here recently, I would expect a similar try here.  Should provide some value if you want to toss him on that 20-Cent Super Hi Five.

7

Custom Tag

Still went down in defeat here last time, but I do think we got a much better performance from this guy overall.  Likely leaving after landing way out in post 8.  Anything similar puts him in play once again.

8

Monticello Lane

Showed some improvement in the local AM effort, but probably going to be sitting far back after landing in outside post.  I’ll watch one first.

9

Noble Commandr

9yo has NEVER been worse than 2nd in 2 years, the only problem with that you might ask?  He only has 2 starts over that time period.  Obviously has some issues.  Looks like a tough assignment from way out here.

10

Flatrock Flower

Trotted evenly after being used hard in that last try at Scioto against better company.  Has definitely proven she can go with these if she minds her manners.  Likely blasting out early.  Maybe.
