Red Mile Nightly Selections

Thursday, August 21, 2014

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                                 Selections                                                5-2-6-1

1

Lady Cambest

Flattened out down the lane last week after a perfect trip to finish a dull 6th.  Haven’t been overly impressed to this point, but probably an even easier field she faces tonight.  I could consider her for minor awards only.

2

Great Scot

Major plunge in class tonight down into a level where he should have some success. Completely overmatched locally to this point, but I suspect we will see an improved effort tonight it much better spot.

3

Goldstar Patriot

No threat against better company here on Sunday, but is another that should appreciate the drop down into our bottom level.  Still going to need to pick things up a bit though.

4

TheShadow Nose

12yo veteran may be getting a little long in the tooth, and I will wait until we see some improvement before hopping on board.

5

Georgian Jiffyjane

Got extremely rough gaited here last week in the final 50 yards, costing herself a chance for a closer finish.  Assuming she minds her manners, she appears to have this field over a barrel.  Clearly the one to beat.

6

Sweetlittle heart

Decent in her first local start against tough group, but has completely lacked stamina in the last couple of tries.  Stiltner gets the call here, I’ll consider her for the bottom of the ticket.

7

Mattox’s Western

Tried to go down the road here last week in his first drop down, only to tire down the lane.  Has proven he can go with these in the past, but needs a big rebound here.

Race 2                                 Selections                                                1-6-2-7

1

Makeba Hall

Extremely rough gaited at multiple points of the mile in her career debut, but keep in mind the track was off that night after heavy rains.  Looks like a 2 horse race with #6, take your pick!

2

Third Sue

Ended up with a tough first over journey applying pressure to #1 last time, and expectedly tired a bit down the lane to finish 3rd.  Should end up with much smoother journey in here following #1 after drawing inside.

3

Cam’s Lilly

Finished far back in her career debut, would have to find a LOT more to contend for the major awards.

4

Misstwinklins jones

Came up empty after a ground saving journey here in the first leg of KYSS action, hard to see things getting easier for her tonight.  Pass.

5

Third Tan

Finished a distant 4th after an easy trip last time, hard to see her doing any better here.

6

Cielle

Squeezed through up the inside last time in deep stretch to rally past #1 after a perfect trip.  Likely going to blast out once again, never been worse than 2nd in 7 career tries.

7

Mama’s Home

Made an uncharacteristic break at the start here in the Opening Leg of KYSS, and that certainly had to take its toll in the later stages of the mile.  Should be able to sit back early and pounce late.  I’ll try her underneath.

Race 3                                 Selections                                                2-6-3-4

1

Unbroken Circle

Never threatened from outside post in her local debut, now lands on the pole here in smaller field for her 3rd career try.  Hasn’t proven she packs enough speed to go with the fav, but should be in play for minors.

2

Velocity Lana

Took steady pressure in her local debut, but dug in down the lane to fend off her rivals as the fav.  Lands back in an even easier spot tonight, anything similar should be plenty enough against these.

3

Doc’s Hollywood

Hooked some tough rivals up in Columbus to this point in her brief career, and should find the local competition much more to her liking.  She fits with these.

4

Hoosier Frankee

Put together a nice rally to finish 2nd as a longshot here on Sunday, and should continue to improve in his 2nd local try.  Any further improvement should put him in the mix once again.

5

Whata Pacific

Has been ‘ok’ in the AM at Scioto, but would need to find a lot more speed to hang with the top ones in his first LT start.  I’ll watch one first.

6

Bogey Buds

Ended up a decent 3rd here last time in behind a couple of solid rivals, after aggressive handling from post 10.  Should find a smoother journey here in short field.  Any further improvement puts him in play.

7

Idontthank youcan

Hasn’t proven he has the stamina to hang around late to this point, things aren’t going to get any easier after landing on the outside against this crew.  Needs more.

Race 4                                 Selections                                                2-7-6-5

1

Powerful Anthony

Anthony had a power outage turning for home in his local debut, would have to find a LOT more to hang with these.  Not tonight.  Noble opted to #6 instead.

2

Nomad

Edged past the fav for the slim victory in deep stretch here last week after a perfect trip.  Should be positioned up close once again, and any further improvement should put him squarely in the mix.

3

Victoria Vlly

Has had some breaking and stamina issues recently, hard to jump on board right now.  The longest of longshots.

4

Silverhill Volo

Barn raced precisely 3 trotters here on Sunday night, and every single one (including this guy) made a break before the opening turn.  Are you willing to take a short price here with that in mind?  Me neither.

5

Delmot

Very consistent to this point in her local campaign, trotting evenly throughout the mile and threatening for the minor awards late.  I would expect more of the same here.

6

Bosco’s Angel

Fired back with a better effort last time, but couldn’t get by #7 down the lane after following him up with a perfect trip.  Only 1 win on the season in 17 tries, I could probably only consider her for the minor awards once again.

7

Alfredo Dream

Unleashed a big rally last week, blowing by his rivals en route to the 17-1 upset in a LT best.  Likely looking to pounce late once again.  Maybe.

Race 5                                 Selections                                                2-6-1-7

1

Bar B’s Apache Cam

Hard to gage his most recent efforts at the IL fairs, but this guy held his own against some tough company here last season and eventually took a 52.4 mark at Colonial.  Not overly tough group tonight.  Live longshot?  I think so.

2

Camp Counselor

Aggressively handled in his first local try after the layoff from post 10, eventually tiring down the lane.  Should be tightened up and primed for a big effort here.  Must respect.

3

Armbro Domi

Never threatened against better group on Sunday, drops down to face a bit easier group tonight but still needs to prove he can go with these.  Hasn’t been overly impressive in his ’14 campaign to this point.

4

Catch That Angel

Cleveland invader had been holding his own against decent company prior to that last try, and appears to have landed in a fairly manageable spot for his local debut.  He fits with these.

5

Branko

We haven’t seen him in an actual race in over 10 months now, but the local Q’fer was solid, finishing up a close 2nd in behind #2.  Might need a start before we see his very best, but any further improvement off that puts him close.

6

Fly to the Angels

Lone mare has been traveling all over it seems recently, and arrives into tonight off an ‘ok’ Q’fer locally.  Plenty of backclass with over $207k in the bank and 52 wins.  I’ll use her on the ticket in WIDE open affair.

7

Presidential Sam

Racing evenly against some solid rivals in his local appearances, and finally lands in a group where he could threaten for the major awards tonight with any similar effort.

Race 6                                 Selections                                                3-4-7                                    Pick 4 Starts Here                               See Ticket at the End

1

Fox Valley Shout

Should get away close after landing on the pole in big field, but will still need to prove she has the stamina to hang around late.  I’ll watch one first.

2

Fairground Drama

Maybe a bit easier spot than she faced last time, but still going to need to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any of the major awards.  Pass.

3

Enchilada As

Nearly fought off her rival down the lane here last week, only to give it up in the final strides to finish a close 2nd.  Lachance takes over the driving duties, should continue to improve.  Tons the best in my opinion.

4

Shawnee Justice

Will likely fly a bit under the radar here after disappointing with a break last time, but I must say he was absolutely flying on the end of it 2 starts back in the $8.5k KY Fair Final.  If he can stay flat, could be close & provide value.

5

Timeflies So Do I

I DO agree that time flies, but I’m not so sure I agree with the other part just yet.  Yet to miss the board against OH Fair rivals, should pick things up a bit on the move to the big oval.  We’ll see.

6

Heels N Hollers

Hasn’t threatened against similar, and appears overmatched once again.  Pass.

7

Berto Adalina

Made a break in the midst of a big move here on Sunday, and will likely be attempting to put together another late rally here.  Her best effort should put her in the mix.

8

Shana’s Lucky Star

Hasn’t proven he can go with these just yet. Pass.

9

Nori Messenger

Finished far back after stretching out to the mile surface last time at Indy, would take a LOT more to hang with these still.  Pass.

10

My Lucky Princess

Finished up an even 3rd in behind a couple of solid rivals here last time, and I could see her in play for the minor awards once again.  Certainly wasn’t done any favors after getting slammed with post 10.  Your call.

Race 7                                 Selections                                                10-6-3-4

1

Sea Bug

Flattened out a bit down the lane last week after making a big move, but all things considered was a pretty good effort off the 75 day layoff.  Should continue to improve.  Lands on the pole in WIDE open crew.  Noble opted to #5 instead.

2

Noha

Finished up an even 4th against similar company here last time, and that’s about the best I could envision for him after landing in against an ultra-competitive crew.  Needs more.

3

Worker C

Aggressive tactics here last time, finishing 2nd in there behind the heavy fav.  Should continue to improve, and any smoother journey should put him very close at a good price.  Maybe.

4

Myartblongs todaddy

Took over the lead against similar company turning for home here on Sunday, but unable to fend off her rivals down the lane.  Still a solid effort to finish a close 3rd, no question she fits with these.  Shehan opted to #10 instead.

5

Lyons Frank

Packed it in down the lane here in his local debut to finish a distant 3rd, but I wouldn’t be too hard on him for that effort because the track was off that night and played to the closers.  Needs a big rebound.  Noble opted here over #1.

6

Really Sexy Guy

Held his own against tougher company recently at Scioto, and that will give him the slight nod as the fav here in what is a WIDE open crew.  Probably has the class edge, but still going to need his very best.

7

Blueridge Orion

MUCH better effort here on Sunday, coming up less than 2 lengths away from pulling off a monster upset.  Facing a similar crew tonight, a similar effort should put him close again.  Appears to be moving in the right direction.

8

My Roberto

Perfectly driven here with a 2nd over journey last time, and he took full advantage, pouncing on his rivals late en route to an easy win.  Takes a step up tonight to tackle better.  One of many with a shot.

9

Luminous Lombo

Appeared to be hard to handle on the track last time, launching an early 3-wide bid around the far turn before flattening out a bit down the lane.  Facing an even better group here, hard to endorse.

10

Sweet Fancy Moses

Got caught up in a wickedly fast mile chasing the runaway winner on Sunday, and lands in what looks to be a much better spot here.  No question she will be blasting early from way out here, catch her if you can.  Shehan opted here over #4.

Race 8                                 Selections                                                10-5-7-3

1

Sanjoramy

Columbus invader plunges into our bottom level claimer here in his local debut.  Never hit a pace last time.  Not an overly tough group, but still going to need to keep his mind on business.

2

Fortune Rd

Hasn’t been able to hang around late recently, would need to find a LOT more still.  Pass.

3

Drew Bromac

14yo veteran came up empty in his first local try, but we do know that he is much better than that.  Probably going to offer a big price off that effort, I will slide him on the ticket.  Bolon opted to #6 instead.

4

Hillcrest Domingo

Where did that last effort come from?  Blasted to the lead turning for home, and nearly dug in down the lane to pull off the 27-1 upset!  Which HD shows up here?  I’m not sure.

5

King Z Tam

Likely fav is 0 for 44 the last couple of seasons, but drops all the way down to face bottom level claimers in his local debut.  Hard to accept a short price on him with that resume, but never going to get any easier than this.

6

Blazing Tower

A couple of even finishes against similar company to begin his local campaign, and I could probably consider him for the minor awards once again.  Bolon opted here over #3.

7

Beee youuuuuu

Hit the board in 16 of 21 last season, but hasn’t come back quite as competitive to this point in ’14.  Another plunging into our bottom level, might wake him up a bit.  Likes to win, 20 for 79 LT.  Maybe.

8

Two Willow Luck

Didn’t have much to offer in his local debut, and now drops down to face easier.  Still going to need to pick things up a bit, I’m not ready to try my luck with him just yet.

9

Western Guy

Never threatened last time against similar, and now moves way out in post 9.  Tough assignment.

10

Catmando

Overcame post 10 last time to sprint past and open up on his rivals for an easy win, but the track bias was playing right into his hands.  Should provide good value nonetheless, I’m willing to take a flier.

Race 9                                 Selections                                                1-9-6-3

1

I Be Da One

Appears to have rounded the corner over those last couple of starts and seems to be heading in the right direction now.  Lands on the pole in what seems to be a fairly soft spot.  It’s now or never.  Shehan opted here over #6.

2

Springhouse Ms Mac

No threat locally to this point.  The longest of longshots.  Pass.

3

Dirty Lucy

Had a little pop on the end of it in her only local try, finishing up a close 3rd against similar company.  Should be in line for another similar journey and result here.  0 for 41 LT, minor awards only.

4

Brandy Alexander

Overmatched in OH recently, but should find this to be a much more manageable crew.  Will need her very best still.  Your call.

5

Bound to Scoot

Hasn’t threatened in 2 local tries, I don’t see things getting any easier here.  Pass.

6

Storms Beach Babe

Ended up an even 5th in her first local try off the layoff, and should continue to improve tonight against similar company.  I could consider her for the minor awards.  Shehan opted to #1 instead.

7

Lucky Duke

Very disappointed in this guy last time, as he never looked comfortable throughout the mile as the fav.  Q’fer prior to that was solid, but hard to know what to expect here.  Your call.

8

Beach Talkin

Packed it in down the lane last week, and stamina continues to be the main concern.  Needs more.

9

Lion of Judah

A decent even effort against conditioned company in his local debut, and lands in a much softer group in the conditioned claiming ranks tonight.  Still won’t be easy from out here, has to find a way to work into the race.

10

Roscoe

Dug down to fight off his rivals down the lane last time at this level, but not done any favors here landing way out in post 10.  Won’t be easy.

Race 10                              Selections                                                7-5-6-4

1

The Machster

Cleveland invader lands in against similar company for his local debut, and should sit close after landing on the pole.  Competitive group, needs his very best.

2

Preferred Stock

Never involved at this level last time, and we haven’t seen him fire his best shot yet in either local try.  I’ll wait for some improvement.

3

Great Mystery

Well, well, well….  On paper, his best effort would crush these.  However, he IS going to be a short price, IS coming off a break, and IS dropping down in class.  Not positive indicators, I’ll try to beat him.  Noble opted to #4 instead.

4

Straight Dancer

Barn has been on a roll here recently, but this guy was collared when trying to go down the road here last time.  Hooks a similar group here, needs to pick things up a bit.  Noble opted here over #3.

5

Fox Valley Largo

Appeared to be too far back from #6 turning for home here last time, but unleashed a vicious rally down the lane to collar his rival in the final stride.  Lands right back in at the same level.  Major player.

6

Paul the Powerful

I am a BIG fan of this guy, and he has been ultra-consistent here locally in his return to the big track.  Tough trip last time, but still nearly sealed the deal only to be nailed by #5 very late.  He might get perfect trip following #5 here.

7

No Oil Paint

Safe to say he had some traffic trouble down the lane last time in a big way.  If he could’ve found a seam sooner, he would’ve been MUCH closer.  Might fly a bit under the radar at a good price.

Race 11                              Selections                                                5-4-2-8

1

Rose’s Cyclone

Finished far back against similar company last time, looks like a tough spot once again.  Pass.

2

Julius Secret

Lightly raced for as much traveling as he has done this year, and arrives into tonight for only his 3rd start on the season.  Should improve on the stretch out to the mile oval.  Price is right, I’ll take a shot.  Noble opted to #3 instead.

3

Jabez

Hasn’t had much to offer locally to this point, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  Noble opted here over #2.

4

Big Cookie

The Cookie continues to get plenty of support at the betting windows, but is yet to nail down her first win on the season.  Likely going to be the fav once again, should be picking up the pieces late.

5

Zuerest

7yo has held his own with tough company on the east coast the last few years, and has typically always done his best racing on a mile track.  I am hoping the stretch back out helps him here.  I’m willing to hop on board.

6

Custom Tag

I keep jumping on board, and he keeps disappointing.  They typically fire better once I jump off the bandwagon, so we’ll see if that helps him here.

7

Southwind Nazareth

Lands in against a much easier crew than what he has faced in OH, should wake him up a bit.  I could consider him for the minor awards.

8

Massasauga

Much improved effort here last week to finish up an even 5th, and will likely be blasting early to sit close once again.  His best effort should put him in play.

Race 12                              Selections                                                2-3-4-5

1

Super Great

Local AM works have been ok, but made a break in his only start.  I’ll watch one before hopping on board.

2

Velocity Driven

Easy winner here at this level 2 starts back, before getting caught up in a big mile last time in $36k stake in Indy.  Lands back in what appears to be a manageable crew.  Should be able to handle these.

3

Classy Standing

Ended up finishing a close 2nd last week as my long shot of the night.  Should be a much shorter price here, but any similar effort should put him squarely in the mix once again.

4

Goodtimin Cam

Tired a bit late as the fav last time after making a move to the top up the backstretch, and should continue to improve here in his 2nd local try.  Not sure I’m willing to take a short price, but he fits with these.  Shehan opted here over #1.

5

Call Me Elizabeth

Another solid late rally last time to finish 3rd, having hit the board in 8 of 10 starts on the season.  Lands in a perfect mid-pack post here, I would expect more of the same.  Maybe.

6

Call Him Clint

Not overly impressed with the local Q’fer, and I’ll watch him go around once before hopping on board.

7

Racey Daisey

Never threatened from post 10 last time, but did show some improvement in an even 6th place finish.  Still maybe a notch or two below the top ones in here, would have to pick things up a bit.

8

Allcards allthetime

Came up empty in his first start in from Canada, and now lands on the outside of a similar crew.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement before endorsing him.

Race 13                              Selections                                                7-2-9-6

1

Acton Overeasy

Overmatched against similar company on Sunday, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass.

2

Rock N Kilo

Rallied from far back here last week to finish up a close 4th, and appears to have landed in a fairly manageable crew tonight.  Anything similar should put her very close.

3

Burning Out

No threat locally, appears to be overmatched once again.  Pass.

4

Gunslinger’s Lady

Raced evenly last time, but still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.

5

Ballard Blaze

Took no prisoners in a down the road romp here last time, but steps up to take on older rivals tonight.  Will have to pick things up a bit, but any improvement should put him squarely in the mix.

6

Doc’s Suzie

Never got involved against tough crew Sunday, but lands back in what should be a much more manageable spot tonight.  I would expect her to blast out with a more aggressive try.  Maybe.

7

Rokingcastle

Very aggressive here last time, before expectedly tiring a bit late after the tough trip.  Might be a sign that he is heading in the right direction.  I will take a shot on him at what should be a nice price.

8

Electric Pet

Rallied from far back to finish 3rd in the conditioned claiming ranks, but steps up to take on straight NW here.  Likely asking a bit much at this point.

9

Knob Hill Shooter

Decent acclimating mile from post 10 last time in a solid 5th place finish, but unfortunately has the bad fortune of landing on the far outside once again.  No question he fits with these, Shehan has to find a way to work him into it.

Race 14                              Selections                                                9-5-7-3-4                                                   20-Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Sweet Inspiration

Fired back with a bit better effort in her 2nd start with Lasix last time, but faces off with all 4 that beat her there once again.  Needs to pick things up still.  Noble opted here over #3.

2

Rockamabella

Tired badly against this crew last time, and would need to find some more stamina to hang around and contend for any of the major awards.  I’ll watch for improvement.

3

Kesons Avaia

Finished up evenly against a much tougher group here on Sunday, and should enjoy the class relief tonight after plunging into our bottom level claimer.  Should provide some value, and she fits with these.  Noble opted to #1 instead.

4

Velocity Sandy

Ended up with a picture perfect journey last time, but could only manage 3rd in behind #’s 5 & 7.  No question she can hang with the top ones in here though.  One of many with a shot in WIDE open crew.

5

Rusty’s Treasure

I thought she debuted well for the new barn last time, bearing out just a bit down the lane but still holding down the 2nd spot behind #7.  Should continue to improve, any similar effort should put her very close.

6

I’ve Got a Feeling

No threat here last time, appears to have landed in a tough spot once again.  Not tonight.

7

Riverlea Hanover

Rallied by her rivals down the lane last time, and has been ultra-competitive here in 2 starts at this level.  No reason to think she won’t be very close once again.  Big shot.

8

Do Ya Wanna Rumba

OH invader takes a significant drop for her local debut, but will still need to fire with her best effort in order to contend for any of the major awards.  Your call.

9

Caribbean Girl

Tired a bit late after trying out the front end here last week, but I am still not convinced she does her best work on the lead.  Might revert back to off the pace tactics here, and price should be right.  I’ll take a shot.
