Red Mile Race Reviews

Thursday, August 15th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                2-9-7

1

Granite Bay Valley

Lost all chance with the early break last time, but was actually decent in finishing a distant 2nd in the start prior.  Note the barn change tonight as well.  Maybe underneath.

2

Blue Diamonds

Connections opt to skip KYSS and drop filly in overnight event instead.  Hasn’t been overly impressive this season, but this is a substantial drop down.  Her best effort makes her the one to beat.

3

Andetorn Hall

Tried to go down the road in his 2nd LT start, only to tire badly down the lane.  Doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with these just yet, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

4

Rhyme and Reason

Lost all chance with a break behind the gate in local debut, and wasn’t overly impressive prior.  Pass.  Lachance opted to #2 instead.

5

Berto Adalina

A nice even effort to finish up a distant 3rd behind #9 last time, but would still have to find a lot more to contend for any of the major awards against this crew.

6

Flatrock flower

Hoosier invader would need to find a lot more stamina to hang around late.  Not for me.

7

Alwaysin blackpedia

Lone 2yo finally put in a clean line last time at The Big M, and no doubt has some talent but also has some breaking issues.  I would expect her to be driven conservatively.  Maybe picks up something late.

8

Francos Red Rocket

He has failed to launch in 4 starts this season, don’t see things changing here.

9

Blue Valley

Yet to miss the board all season, including an absolute romp last time as the heavy fav.  Lands out in post 9, but should have enough early speed to get away well.  Must respect.

10

Caribbean Dream

Appears overmatched against these, and lands on the outside as well.  Not tonight.

Race 2                     Selections                                5-2-3

1

Allcardsall thetime

Has rounded the corner a bit since arriving locally, but certainly facing his toughest task to date tonight against some top stakes colts.  Might be asking a bit much.

2

Duel in the Sun

Freshman KYSS champ returns to the red clay to defend his crown.  Connections have raced him against top level company all season, and its tough to tell if he will be primed for his best effort.

3

Galex

Has been solid against overnight company in PA over the last few, but stepping up to take on some tough company here in his local debut.  Should sit close, I’ll try him underneath.

4

Jude Hall

Not sure what caused the break around the first turn last week in his ’13 debut, but things certainly aren’t going to get any easier here.  Not yet.

5

Bandolito

Has absolutely burst on the scene this year, suffering his only loss 7 starts back in his career debut.  Steps up to face stakes company tonight for the first time.  Not sure we have seen anywhere near his best yet.

6

Nutmegs Maya

Changed barns prior to the last start in OH, and ended up racing evenly.  Facing a tough test tonight against top level company.  Not sure I can endorse him against these.

Race 3                     Selections                                4-6-7

1

Punky

Added lasix last time in MI, and ended up finishing 2nd after a perfect trip.  Hard to see her going with the favs in here, but maybe a shot at the minor awards.  Wrenn opted off to drive #4.

2

Imnotason ofabeach

Collared down the lane in overnight company at Springfield, and it would be a big stretch to think she is ready for this crew here in only her 3rd career try.  I’ll wait for improvement.

3

Best of the Best

Was solid in finishing 3rd behind #6 two starts back in $10k KY Fair Final, and followed it up with a fairly flat effort here last week.  Not sure I am ready to hop on board just yet.

4

So Nice

When I say she romped last time, I mean she obliterated a field of overnight company on a night where the track didn’t seem all that great.  Lands in a comfortable spot here.  Must respect.  Wrenn opted here over #1.

5

Olive Oyle

Couldn’t get the job done against overnight company at the Ocean as the fav last time out, and things aren’t going to get any easier for her tonight.  Pass.

6

Swinging Cami

Wow!  Talk about a big effort, this filly was huge here a couple of weeks back in the $10k KY Fair Final.  We will see if she can follow it up with another big effort here.  Certainly merits respect.

7

Breathtaking beauty

Appeared to have some talent when she debuted last summer, but never really got things going after making only 3 starts.  Making her ’13 debut tonight after a couple of ‘ok’ Q’fers.  Not sure what to expect.

Race 4                     Selections                                2-9-1-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Jo Jo’s Circus

Reverted back to her off the pace tactics last time, and flew by her rivals late to pull off the 15-1 stunner.  Lands on the pole here in fairly wide open crew, she loves this track and fits with these.

2

Cigarchompin Mona

I was a bit disappointed in her effort last time in finishing up well behind #1, but I do know she is better than that when on top of her game.  I’m willing to give her one more try at what should be a nice number.

3

Thank You Mamma

Completely packed it in after getting caught up in the quick early pace last time, and would take a complete turnaround here.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

4

Roxie Lee N

12yo was ‘ok’ down at Bluegrass, and note the barn change prior to tonight.  Q’fer was on an off track, but wasn’t overly impressive.  I’ll watch one first.

5

Arlene Alice

Cleveland invader has been holding her own against similar company, and should enjoy the stretch out to the mile oval.  Picks up Wrenn as well.  Lots to like.

6

Shesgotwht everitis

Has been facing tougher company in OH recently, but hasn’t shown any stamina whatsoever.  Not sure she is going to like what she sees when she takes a look down this long homestretch.  Not for me.

7

Baby Blue Pajamas

Drops in for a claiming tag for the first time locally, and her best effort should put her in the mix.  Defeated #8 in her local debut 2 starts back.  Callahan opted to #9 instead.

8

Georgian Jiffyjane

Expectedly tired last time after getting caught up in the wicked pace.  Typically races a bit better off the pace, and will likely be coming from far back here.  Will have a lot of ground to cover.  Your call.

9

American Village

East coast invader has been even against tougher company at Pocono, prior to the break in stride in her most recent effort.  Not done any favors in landing post 9, but plenty of back class with over $343k in the bank.

Race 5                     Selections                                5-4-1

1

Phenomenon

Has really rounded the corner in his last few starts at Yonkers, and should be sitting on or close to the lead after landing on the pole.  Any further improvement puts him squarely in the mix.

2

Homestake

Changed barns prior to that last start in PA, where it appears he bled.  He was coming off a scratched sick prior to that.  Adds lasix here, but I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

3

Machsie Leader

No match for maiden company here on Sunday, and would be hard to endorse him against these.  Pass.

4

Exit Cam

Word on the street is that he had a flat tire in that last start at Scioto, so I wouldn’t be too hard on him for tiring after the quick fractions.  Has flashed some major league speed at times this season, needs his very best.

5

Blatantly Best

Last year’s runner up in the $250k KYSS final is nearing in on $200k for his career.  We haven’t seen him in over 3 weeks now, but was razor sharp in easy win at Hoosier.  His best should be enough against these.

6

Argon Fire

Has really rounded into form over the last few starts, including a romp in the $8.5k KY Fair Final over #3 last time.  Still will need to find a bit more in the tank to hang with the favs, but he’s heading in the right direction.

7

A List

Appeared to be home free here in overnight last weekend, only to be collared in the final strides.  No question he has the talent when he’s on top of his game, which A List shows up tonight?  I’m not sure.

Race 6                     Selections                                1-2-7                       Pick 4 Starts Here                  See Ticket at the End

1

Fanticipation

1st time starter from the late great Rocknroll Hanover, who should be primed and ready to go after 3 AM works on the east coast.  Fairly comfortable spot, which should make her the one to beat.

2

Ivy’s American

Didn’t have the easiest of trips last time and still managed to finish 2nd behind the fav.  She is 0 for 24 now though, I could only recommend her for the minor awards once again.

3

Springhouse Ms Mac

Came up empty in both local starts, would have to find a lot more stamina to hang around for any of the major awards against these.

4

Dusty Dunes

Hard to knock this IL invader who arrives after 4 consecutive wins on the IL Fair Circuit.  Should really improve with the stretch out to the mile surface.  How good is he?  We shall see.

5

Sharp Dressed Guy

3yo is yet to miss the board in 4 career tries, and was ‘ok’ after a pocket ride last time in overnight company at Raceway.  Facing probably his toughest test yet.  Your call.

6

Monickers

Finished up the track in both career tries at Hoosier, but should find the local competition to be a bit softer.  Her connections trained her sire as well, Art’s Chip.  Still needs to pick things up a bit.

7

Awesome Feather

Not sure what caused the break in overnight last time, but had been even in the prior starts against some solid company.  Not the barn change tonight as well.  Her best effort puts her in the mix.

8

Little Friskie

No luck in 3 tries this season, and would need a lot more stamina to contend with these.  Pass.

9

Full Color Camo

Came up empty against similar crew here on Opening Night, and lands on the outside once again.  Not tonight.

10

High Hopes

Hard to gage from her OH fair starts, but it won’t be easy after landing on the far outside tonight in full field.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

Race 7                     Selections                                8-6-10-9                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Dana Boko

No threat against overnight company here last week, and taking a step up to the major leagues tonight.  Pass.

2

Caneel Hall

Limited success against stakes company on the east coast this season, and was collared in deep stretch against overnight company last time at Tioga on off track.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit still.

3

Redur beautiful

KY Fair Champ picked a nice time to pick up her first win on the season last time in the $9k Final.  Brand new ballgame here though, against some top stakes fillies.  Would need even more.

4

Alston Hall

Has been ‘ok’ when she keeps her mind on business, but has encountered plenty of breaking issues in between as well.  No question she will need her very best again these.  Your call.  Lachance opted to #5 instead.

5

Variety Girl

Added lasix a couple of starts back, and she has been even in both starts since.  Hasn’t proven that she can go with stakes company just yet, but has shown she packs plenty of speed.  Lachance chose over #’s 4, 10, & 11.

6

Déjà vu Too

I was very impressed with her last try in the $30k Duenna at The Big M, where she put together a nice rally to finish up close in 3rd.  Appears to be the main threat to her stablemate, #8.  CC opted to #8 instead.

7

Audio

Appears completely overmatched against these.  Pass.  Wrenn opted to #9 instead.

8

Ma Chere Hall

Picked a bad time to make a break with a half million dollars on the line in her last start in the Hambletonian Oaks.  No question she has the most talent if she minds her manners.  The one to beat.  CC opted here over #6.

9

Kijafa

Finished up far behind #6 in the $30k stake last time, but she has shown bursts of speed prior.  Picks up Wrenn tonight as well.  Likely will be leaving for early position, might be able to hang on for a piece late.

10

Clementine Dream

Hard to gage after making breaks in 2 of her 3 career starts.  Has obviously proven she has speed when she keeps her mind on business.  Might be a live longshot from way out here.  Lachance opted to #5 instead.

11

Fanfan Dream

Has been decent against overnight company in Canada, but taking a fairly sizeable step up tonight to take on stakes company and has the 2nd tier as well.  I’ll wait for a  better spot.  Lachance opted to #5 instead.

Race 8                     Selections                                4-11-5

1

Deacons Valley

Undefeated in 3 career tries, but taking a huge step up tonight to take on stakes company.  Certainly hasn’t done anything wrong, but will have to prove he can hold his own with these.

2

Six Gun Hall

Flashed some speed earlier this summer on the east coast, but has regressed into some bad breaking habits in the last couple.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  CC opted to #4 instead.

3

Bas Hanover

Yet another that has flashed signs of speed in between breaks.  Should enjoy the stretch back out to the mile oval tonight.  Needs his very best.  Lachance opted to #11 instead.

4

Lauderdale

Just missed picking up a check in the $1 million Hambo last time, and appears to have landed in a fairly comfortable spot for his local debut.  No question the one to beat.  Callahan opted here over #2.

5

Caveat Emptor

Another that has flashed speed at times, but arrives after consecutive breaks on the mile track at The Big M.  Looked like he was going to be VERY close before breaking 2 starts back.  Might be a bit of a sleeper.

6

Touchdown As

Dominated overnight company in Indy last time, but faces the toughest test of his career tonight against stakes company.  Still will have to prove he can hold his own with these.  Your call.

7

Deweykidum nhowe

Decent against nw2 company at Hoosier, but steps up to a completely different level tonight.  Would still need to find a lot more speed.  Lachance opted to #11 instead.

8

Celebrity Payback

Not sure you would get any pay back if you bet this guy.  Looks like a tough spot for his career debut.

9

Glamrocker

Added hobbles for the Q’fer last time, only to get mowed down in deep stretch.  Appears to be a notch or two below the top colts still.  Pass.  Lachance opted to #11 instead.

10

Tornado

Got the job done here last week as a heavy fav, but I must say that the mile wasn’t overly impressive.  Now gets stuck on the far outside in big bulky field.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

11

Here’s Johnny

Solid all season against overnight company on the east coast, and will hopefully find good position tonight after beginning from the 2nd tier.  Appears to have a big shot behind the fav.  Lachance opted here over #’s 3, 7, & 9.

Race 9                     Selections                                1-3-2-8                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Andie Sophia

Defending KYSS champ returns to defend her crown, after trading blows recently with #3 in mid-level east coast stakes.  Very impressive here last year, should be able to sit close from the inside.  Must respect.

2

Rockin with Dewey

Canadian invader has hit the board in 8 of 11 this season, and took on some of the top fillies in the country back on 6-15 in the $356k Elegant Image.  Should sit close in here, and be able to hang on for a solid piece.  Lachance opted here over #5.

3

True Day Dream

Remarkably, has only missed the board one time in her entire career.  Continues to impress with each and every start, and has never been worse than 2nd all season.  Draws well in big bulky field.  Lots to like.

4

Dntchtflly

Looks to be overmatched against these.  Pass.  Wrenn opted to #1 instead.

5

Simone Hall

Had some success here last year, but doesn’t appear to have progressed much further here in her sophomore campaign.  Added lasix prior to the last start, but was still collared down the lane.  Needs to pick it up.

6

V Six

Tired badly in her only start this season, would take a complete turnaround.  Not tonight.

7

Zorianna

Broke through for a win last time at Vernon, but asking a lot to step up and take on stakes company tonight.  Not sure she is ready for these just yet.  Wrenn opted to #1 instead.

8

Duolotta cheatin

Has shown some major league speed at times this year, and is another that broke through for her 1st career win in most recent effort.  Likely blasting early from way out here.  Maybe underneath.

9

Little Bitty Lies

Looks to have rounded the corner in those last couple of starts, and is another of many that has a shot at the minor awards in here.  Her best effort would put her in the mix.

10

Lindy’s Showgirl

Romped against overnight company at Plainridge in both starts, but it’s hard to gage how much talent is here after she made a break last time in Canada.  Won’t be easy for lightly raced filly from way out here.

11

Delmot

Made a break in the midst of a rally last time, costing her all chance at the win.  Looks like an even tougher assignment from the 2nd tier here.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

Race 10                   Selections                                2-6-1

1

Diligent Prospect

Rare to see a maiden with six figures in the bank but that’s just what we have here.  Held her own against overnight company in PA recently, should sit close from the pole.  Maybe.  Lachance opted to #5 instead.

2

Ohmybelle

Only missed the board once in 20 career starts, just an unbelievable resume for a special filly.  The queen is back to try to retake her KYSS throne.  Looks like the one to beat.

3

Swimsuit Model

Finished a football field behind the winner in overnight last time, would need a LOT more to go with this crew.  Pass.  Lachance opted to #5 instead.

4

Sgt Molly Pitcher

Actually defeated #2 in Paducah back on 6-24 after backing it down on the front end.  Has been ‘ok’ on KY Fair Circuit all season, maybe a notch or two below the favs still though.  Your call.

5

Sammys Ponder

Interesting proposition here for top connections.  Wasn’t overly impressed with her first 2 tries at Mohawk, but has put together back to back wins on the small track at Grand River.  Should continue to improve.

6

KZ Beach Girl

Solid all season long, only finishing worse than 2nd once in 10 starts against tough company in OH.  Picked up a mid-level stakes victory in Chi-town as well.  Will need her very best against #2.  Maybe.

7

Doc’s Suzie

Couldn’t keep up with #2 in the $10k KY Fair Final, and now lands on the outside of a solid crew.  Not sure things are going to get any easier here.  Pass.

Race 11                   Selections                                1-5-3-8                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Master of Law

Lightly raced 3yo has been explosive in Canadian overnights, reeling off 3 consecutive easy victories.  Lands on the inside of big bulky field.  Any further improvement might be enough.

2

Sharpshot Hall

Wire to wire winner against overnight company at Hoosier last time, but taking a substantial jump up to take on stakes company here.  Would still need to find a lot more.

3

Dewycolor intheline

Captured the 1st leg of Trotting’s Triple Crown by taking the $450k Yonkers Trot two starts back before getting handily defeated in Hambo Elim by eventual winner.  No question he has the speed.

4

Alfredo Dream

Hasn’t flashed the necessary speed yet to hang with this crew.   I’ll wait for a better spot.

5

Banco Solo

Yet another Hambo starter here, who ended up missing the $1 million final as well.  No question an easier spot than he has faced recently.  Was solid here last season.  Lots to like.

6

Penn

KY Fair Champ swept the fair circuit with ease, but stepping into the major leagues against some tough foes tonight.  Can he go with the top ones in here?  I’m not sure.

7

Laughing King

Doesn’t appear to be on the same level as his stablemate (#3).  Pass.

8

Dewey Luvs Britt

Decent against overnight company on the east coast this season, but lands on the outside of a solid group for his local debut.  Will have to pick things up even more.

9

Voodoo Victor

Put away overnight foes here on Opening Night, but faces a far tougher task tonight against some top colts.  Not sure he is ready for these just yet.

10

Mystical Dew

Defending KYSS champ is making his 1st start back on the season tonight.  Lands on the far outside of talented crew.  I’ll watch one first.

11

Zoli

Absolutely romped against far weaker company on Opening Night, and couldn’t have looked any better in doing so.  Still will need to prove he can go with the top ones in here though.

Race 12                   Selections                                6-2-1-8-10                               10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Duke Towne

Disappointed against cheap company in Cleveland as a short price in the last couple.  Lands in a fairly soft spot for his local debut, should sit close from the pole.  Must respect.

2

Bongo

Tired badly after getting caught up in wicked early pace in his local debut.  Does have some early speed, and looks to have landed in even easier tonight.  Callahan opted here over #10.

3

Mattox’s Arianna

Hasn’t hit the board in the last couple of seasons, looks overmatched once again.  Pass.

4

Tymeto B Bluegrass

Well beaten against tougher company in OH recently, and would have to find more stamina to remain competitive here.  Does show a 54.3 win from earlier in the year at Chicago.  Your call.

5

Mor Storms Coming

Not sure if he is ready to fire his best effort off the AM try just yet, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

6

Change Agent

Solid effort to finish up a distant 3rd in his local debut, and will likely continue to improve here in his 2nd start off the brief layoff.  Lands in a perfect mid-pack post as well.  I’m willing to hop on board.

7

Stone Cold Fever

Local Q’fer wasn’t overly impressive in short field, and I’ll watch one closely first.

8

Jen Finn

Mare has held her own against similar company in OH this season, and does have some early speed as well if Shehan elects to use it.  I could see her blasting out and hitting the ticket at a decent price.

9

Gunner McKenna

Finished far back in a tough spot last time, but things should be a bit easier here.  Would still have to pick things up quite a bit though.

10

Twotwenty Power

OH invader is winless in the last couple of seasons, but she is probably facing one of the easier spots she has seen.  Stuck on the far outside, Smith will have to find a way to work her into the race.  CC opted to #2 instead.
