Red Mile Nightly Selections

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                                 Selections                                                5-6-4-2

1

Hollys Dancing Star

Holly hasn’t been dancing all that well in the AM at Scioto, looks like a tough spot for her.  Pass.

2

Bet I Strike

Lightly raced 4yo has had some breaking problems in the past, but I thought he trotted very well here in his local debut.  Any further improvement should put him in the mix against these.

3

Continental Divide

Regally bred youngster hasn’t flashed any major league speed to this point, I’ll watch one first.

4

My Lucky Princess

OH invader has been trotting evenly against tougher company at Scioto, and should enjoy the class relief in her local debut.  Should offer some value as well, I’ll toss her on the ticket.

5

Nomad

Flashed some early speed in that last try at Hoosier, and hung around late for a close 4th place finish against solid company.  Appears to be well spotted here in his return to the red clay.  Lots to like.

6

Enchilada As

I have to admit I wasn’t too high on her chances here last week, and she crushed her rivals and did not disappoint as the betting fav.  Appears to be a bit tougher crew here, but anything similar puts her close.

7

Shawnee Justice

Rallied from far back in that $8.5k KY Fair Final to finish up 2nd behind his stablemate.  No question that was a big improvement, and he appears to be heading in the right direction.  Should be flying late once again.

8

Fairground Drama

Not sure what happened last time, but she finished far behind #6.  Hard to jump on board after seeing that.

9

Poetic Justice

Not much luck in the conditioned claiming ranks at Hoosier, and wasn’t done any favors after landing out in post 9 here tonight.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

10

Hells N Hollers

Has had some stamina issues recently, and slammed with post 10 tonight as well.  Not a good combination.

Race 2                                 Selections                                                3-5-7-2

1

Western Guy

Took an aggressive shot at this level last week, only to end up parked the mile and expectedly tiring late.  He should be able to dictate the terms tonight after landing on the pole, but still needs to pick things up a bit.

2

Blazing Tower

A nice even 3rd place finish here in his local debut at this level, and anything similar to that should put him close once again.  Has hit the board in 7 of 9 on the season.

3

Lookabout

Tired here on Sunday after firing out to sit close, but keep in mind the track was off and many horses were tiring after sitting close early.  I wouldn’t be too hard on him for that.  Takes a drop into claiming ranks as well.  Must respect.

4

Hillcrest Domingo

A couple of dull efforts at this level to begin his local campaign, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass.

5

Third Street Pete

Pete parlayed a perfect trip into a slim victory here last week, and should be able to blast out and sit on or close to the lead once again.  No question the one to beat, but do you want to take a heavy fav here in bottom level claimer…?

6

Fish Tales

Finished far behind #5 last time, and would have to find a LOT more.  Pass for now.

7

Endeavors Moment

Appears to have had an equipment issue after getting away far back in his local debut, and will likely provide some value here tonight.  I’m willing to give him one more chance and toss him on the ticket.

Race 3                                 Selections                                                4-8-3-5

1

Powerful Anthony

Anthony had a powerful season a year ago, hitting the board in 21 of 27 tries.  Things haven’t gone as smoothly here in his 4yo campaign, where he has had some major stamina issues.  Not sure things are going to get any easier here.

2

Nordic Blitz

Didn’t finish within shouting distance in that latest AM effort at Hoosier, would have to find a LOT more speed to hang with the top ones in here.  Pass.

3

Delmot

A couple of similar even 4th place finishes to kickoff her local campaign, and we should continue to see some improvement here in her 6th start back on the season.  I’ll try her in behind the fav.

4

Big Valley Speed

Unlike his first 2 career tries at Hoosier, this guy was able to slam the door here last week for his first career win and fend off his rivals down the lane.  I was impressed with that try, should be more of the same here.

5

Bosco’s Angel

We haven’t seen a lot to get excited about in her 2 local tries to this point, but lands in what should be an even easier crew here tonight.  Still going to have to find some more pop on the end of it to contend for major awards.

6

Alfredo Dream

Never got involved against tough crew here last time, and takes a major class plunge in a much more manageable spot tonight.  Still will need to pick things up a bit.

7

Fly Away Bumblebee

The Bumblebee flashed some early speed at Hoosier last time, and ended up hanging around late for a 3rd place finish.  Lands in what appears to be a similar crew here.  Needs her very best.

8

Tiffany’s Victory

Barn starting to heat up here, just a nose short of having 4 wins on Sunday night.  Tiffany was dull in her last try, but I suspect we will get a better effort tonight.  Maybe.  Nisonger opted off to #5 instead.

9

Berto Adalina

Unleashed a nice stretch rally here last week en route to a close 3rd place finish behind #4, and will likely be coming from even further back tonight after getting slammed with outside post.  I could only try her for the minor awards.

Race 4                                 Selections                                                2-5-4-1

1

Velocity Sandy

Rallied down the lane to score as the fav in her first drop down to this level last week, and lands on the pole here in a similar crew.  WIDE open field, but she definitely fits with these.

2

Caribbean Girl

Continues to plunge in class, beginning in our top level here on Opening Night and now taking a drop into the bottom level claimer here.  Should enjoy the class relief, looks like a great spot for a drop and pop!  I’m on board.

3

I’ve Got a Feeling

Narrowly defeated by Noha back on 7-12 in Paducah, and we saw Noha come out and pace in 55 and change on this track.  Assuming she could transition the same, that would put her in the mix in WIDE open group.

4

Riverlea Hanover

Nearly fought off #1 down the lane for the victory last time, but ended up having to settle for a close 2nd instead.  Only 1 for 50 the last couple of seasons, but should be somewhere close with a similar effort.

5

Rusty’s Treasure

Claimed last time at this level, and should flash her customary early speed for new barn.  Equaled her LT best only 2 starts back, she is in good form right now.  Maybe.

6

Sweet Inspiration

Finished FAR back here last time against many of these same rivals when adding Lasix, and would take a complete turnaround to be close tonight.  Barn was red hot here on Sunday though, maybe we will get a better effort here?

7

Arts Chip N Gail

Likely going to be sitting far back early, and will have to find a way to work herself into the race.  Coming off a scratched sick line as well.  I’ll watch one first.

8

Rockamabella

Couldn’t keep up with the fav last time, but lands in what should be a much more manageable group of claiming mares tonight.  Packs some early speed, likely blasting out here and should sit up close.  Your call.

Race 5                                 Selections                                                8-9-5-7

1

Rose’s Cyclone

Finished far behind #8 back on 7-19 at Bluegrass, and appears to have hooked a tough group for his local debut.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

2

High Finance

Almost impossible to gage his current form while competing on the MI Fair Circuit, but you must give him credit for a blowout win in that last affair.  I will watch one closely before hopping on board.

3

Foxy Polar

Added Lasix here last time, but still finished far back.  Would have to find a lot more still.  Not tonight.

4

Meggins Littlegirl

Yet to hit the board in 6 tries this season, and I can’t see things going any better against this group.  Pass.

5

Big Cookie

The Cookie had to settle for 2nd as the betting fav last time out, but she did manage to get by #8 down the lane in there.  No question her best effort will put her in the mix once again.

6

Massasauga

Hasn’t had much stamina in 2 local tries, I’ll wait until we see some improvement before hopping on board.

7

Flatrock Flower

Adding Lasix last month has appeared to help, and looks to have landed in a manageable crew for her first local try.  Shows a scratched ‘sick’ last time though, will we get her very best shot?  Not sure.

8

Custom Tag

Honestly I was a bit disappointed with that try here last week, but he didn’t race all that badly in a 3rd place finish.  I still think he is better than that, and should be blasting once again.  I’ll give him one more try.

9

Cheetah Hall

PA invader has some back class with over $161k in the bank, and has been facing far tougher company recently at The Meadows.  Not thrilled with outside post, but takes a big plunge here.  Major player.

Race 6                                 Selections                                                6-10-4                                 Pick 4 Starts Here - $3,333 Carryover  - $10,000 Guaranteed Pool

1

Bound to Scoot

I gave her a try here last week, but in all honesty she was just not good enough to go with the top ones in there.  Appears to have landed in an even tougher group here tonight for this level.  I’ll pass for now .

2

Justlikedins

Picked up her lone win in 65 tries right here, but doesn’t appear to be on top of her game of late.  Would need to pick things up quite a bit still.

3

Omahall Beach

Talk about a layoff…  this guy’s last start came here on June 13th….  Of 2010!!!  Wow!  What should we expect after over 4 years on the shelf?  I’m just not sure, but let’s watch one first.

4

Electric Pet

Lost all chance after making a break at the start here last time, and now connections opt to drop her in for the claiming tag as well.  Should find this level more to her liking, but has to keep her mind on business.

5

Barbara’s in Gear

No threat against similar company last week, Barbara still needs to find a few more gears to contend for major awards.

6

Lucky Duke

We hadn’t seen much to get excited about from this guy in his brief career prior to that AM work here last time, where he finished up a solid 2nd in behind a nice mare.  Anything similar to that should be enough here.

7

Beach Talkin

Severe stamina issues recently on the KY Fair Circuit, would have to find a lot more here.

8

I Be Da One

Finished far back against much better crew last time, but it did appear to be a step in the right direction.  Combine that with a much easier spot here, and should put her on track for a close finish.

9

Storms Beach Babe

Over 2 months on the shelf prior to tonight, and lands way out in post 9.  Not positive indicators.

10

Delightfully Mine

Outpaced in a quick back half here last week, but is another that should really enjoy the class relief in the nw1 to be claimed.  Won’t be easy from way out here, but her best effort puts her squarely in the mix.

Race 7                                 Selections                                                7-10-3-5

1

Quik Escape

Hasn’t proven she packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  I’ll pass for now.

2

Surprise Angle

Tired badly in local AM effort, I would be more than surprised to see her contend for major awards against these.  Pass.

3

Sharon Rose Artist

Aggressively handled here in her AM try, and put in a solid effort to finish up a close 2nd.  Should continue to improve tonight in only her 3rd career try.  No question she fits with these.

4

Brooklets Bliss

Debuts tonight after a couple of average Q’fers in Columbus.  I’ll watch one before hopping on board.

5

Art’s Imagination

Has shown some quick early speed on KY Fair Circuit, and will likely be blasting out early once again tonight.  Will have to find some more stamina still to fend off his rivals late.

6

Goin to Win Jones

Well beaten in his last several tries, and lands in another tough spot here.  Pass.

7

Ballard Blaze

Ended up with a tough trip in $9k KY Fair Final, but still gave a nice account of himself down the lane to hold on for a good 3rd.  Got in traffic trouble here 2 starts back, should be primed and poised to get the job done here.

8

Idontthank youcan

Showed a bit of improvement here on Sunday, but still needs more to hang with the top ones.  Not yet.  T. Smith opted here over #9.

9

Rocky Express

Looks like a tough assignment here in his local debut after landing out in post 9.  Pass for now.  T. Smith opted to #8 instead.

10

Bogey Buds

Appears to have enough speed to blast out early, and has proven he can hold his own with some solid rivals thus far in OH.  His best effort should put him very close.

Race 8                                 Selections                                                6-5-9-4

1

Mattox’s Western

Tired badly after getting caught up in a quick early pace against much tougher group here last time, and should enjoy the drop down to our bottom level.  Will be sitting close, might hang around for a small piece late.

2

Lady Cambest

An even 4th in claiming ranks last time, and lands in what appears to be a fairly similar spot here against conditioned company tonight.  Likely in play for the minor awards once again.

3

Lion of Judah

Not much success over the last few tries, I’ll watch one before hopping on board.

4

Rappermunn

Never threatened on off track here Sunday after getting away far back, but should be involved much earlier after landing in perfect mid-pack post here.  His best effort puts him in the mix.  Maybe.  T. Smith chose over #8.

5

My Roberto

Finished up a distant 3rd in behind a solid pair last week, and should find this spot much more to his liking on the class drop.  Appears to be main threat to #6.

6

Georgian Jiffyjane

Chi-town invader has had plenty of success over the red clay here in the past, and appears to have landed in a fairly comfortable spot for her local debut here this season.  Anything close to her best should be enough.

7

Looksgood Onu

I haven’t seen anything that looks too good here lately.  Pass.

8

Sweetlittle heart

Finally gets some class relief tonight, but still going to need to pick things up a bit to contend for any of the major awards.  Your call.

9

Gordie How

Put in play early from outside post here on Sunday, but didn’t have much to offer late against tough group.  Takes a major drop down here, but lands on outside once again.  Price should be right, I’ll toss him on the ticket.

Race 9                                 Selections                                                9-6-2-3

1

Kesons Kahuna

First things first, a BIG congrats to 19yo driver Zach Mogan who picked up his 1st career win here last week.  Appears to be fairly well spotted with his OH invader as well, his best effort puts him in the mix.

2

Goodtimin Cam

Has been holding his own with some tough overnight rivals at Scioto, and should find this to be a much more manageable spot.  No question he fits with these.

3

Ilikethesun

Who doesn’t like the sun?  Indy invader is only 1 for 26 over the last couple of seasons, but she does own a solid closing kick and should be flying late here as well.  Maybe.

4

Iknow everything

Didn’t have much to offer against similar company last time, hard for me to see things getting any easier here.

5

Allcards allthetime

Canadian invader has missed a few weeks prior to tonight, but should find this to be a MUCH easier spot than what he was facing up North.  Will we get his best effort here locally at first asking?  Not sure.

6

Call Me Elizabeth

Actually liked her in this spot last week, where she was essentially a victim of circumstances after getting caught in the back of the pack through a slow opening half.  Might be a better pace to chase here.  Price is right.

7

RJ’s Day

Not overly impressive in his lone AM try, and will probably need a start before firing with his best shot after 3 months on the shelf.  I’ll watch this one closely.

8

Daylyn Horizon

Keep in mind he was facing FAR better company here on Sunday, but still a bit concerning that he completely came to a stop turning for home.  Possibly didn’t get over the off track that well.  Needs more.

9

Classy Standing

Barn was on an absolute roll here Sunday, and this guy might fly a bit under the radar after landing way out in post 9 here tonight.  He IS much better than what we saw last week.  I’ll take a flier at a big price.

10

Racey Daisey

Didn’t have anything to offer against tougher company in her only local try, and gets slammed with post 10 here tonight.  Likely getting away last in here, hard to jump on board with that in mind.

Race 10                              Selections                                                5-2-1-10

1

Rock N Kilo

Appears to really be rounding the corner since stretching out to the mile track the last couple of starts, sprinting home with her rivals en route to a 3rd place finish last time.  Should sit close here after landing on the pole.  Maybe.

2

Threefold Breanna

Had things her own way on the front last time, only to be mowed down by the fav late.  Still a nice effort.  Has lost 2 consecutive starts by slim margins to M. Evers’ pupils, faces another here in #5.

3

Springhouse Ms Mac

Nothing to offer in her local debut, would need a lot more to hang with these.  Pass.

4

Sadies Scooter

Cleveland invader had been slammed with outside posts recently up until the most recent try, where she did flash some early speed and race a bit better.  Not an easy spot for her local debut though, probably asking a bit much.

5

Velocity Lana

Barn has been dominating this class thus far with what seems like a conveyor belt of young talent from Indiana.  I don’t see why things would be any different here, no question she is the one to beat.

6

Dble Bogey

Unfortunately making breaks seems to have become par for the course for Double Bogey.  Can’t endorse just yet.

7

Hez A Chief

Flashed some improvement when adding Lasix last time at Hoosier, but still would need to pick things up quite a bit to hang with the top ones in here.

8

Gunslinger’s Lady

Ran out of ammo early here on Sunday, would have to pick things up quite a bit still.

9

Rokingcastle

Picked off some tired rivals late in an improved effort in his only local try, but will likely be sitting far back after landing in post 9 once again.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

10

Knob Hill Shooter

Not sure what happened last time, but anything close to those prior starts in Indy would put him squarely in the mix.  Missed a few weeks coming into tonight, I’ll try him underneath the fav.

Race 11                              Selections                                                4-9-5-6

1

Request to Win

No factor against similar company here last time, and appears to be facing a tough assignment once again.  Not tonight.

2

Hereiam Coolwater

A decent 4th place finish against a bit better group in her local debut, and appears to be one of several with a shot here in WIDE open affair.  Maybe.

3

Talkin First

OH invader should enjoy the stretch out to the mile oval tonight, after finishing far back against $5k claiming company recently at Scioto.  Another one of many with a shot in what appears to be a crap shoot.

4

Jenna’s Dream

Absolutely torched here after making an early move for the lead last time, and one of these weeks he is going to find a smoother journey.  Price should be decent here, I’m willing to take a shot it’s tonight.

5

Rocknroll Wannabe

Added Lasix and changed barns last time, and actually finished up with a much improved 3rd place finish.  Takes a slight drop in here and looks like a logical contender.  Keep in mind he is 0 for 39 last 2 years though.  Tough to overcome.

6

Awesum Desire

Never involved last time from post 9, but I suspect we will get a much more aggressive steer here in what is an easier group for her 2nd local try.  Catch her if you can!

7

Sea Bug

Decent local Q’fer, but I would assume she will need a start before we see her best effort after the 2 ½ month break.  I’ll watch one before hopping on board.

8

Noha

Not much luck on the off track here on Sunday, but lands in what should be a much more manageable group tonight.  One of many contenders in this crew.

9

Silent Partner

Regally bred son of Camluck out of Precious Beauty, who of course is the dam of Precocious Beauty.  Has missed some time, but the local Q’fer was sharp.  Has early speed as well, likely blasting out off the wings.  Maybe.

10

Posey Patch

MN invader gets slammed with outside post in her local debut, would have to find a way to get worked into the race from way out here.  Won’t be easy.

Race 12                              Selections                                                4-2-8-7-9                           20-Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Two WillowLuck

Takes a significant drop in class for his local debut, but has not been in great form recently in Indy.  Not sure I can hop on board just yet.

2

Paul the Powerful

Paul has been pretty sharp in both local tries to this point, and I would expect more of the same tonight as he takes a drop down as well.  WIDE open crew, he fits with these.  Nisonger opted here over #’s 5 & 8.

3

Shakey Slim

Finished up an ‘ok’ 5th in first try for new connections, and now they opt to move him back into the claiming ranks with a step up from where he was claimed.  Might be asking a bit much, but we will know soon enough.

4

Fox Valley Largo

Put together another solid late rally to finish in 2nd behind Scoot Diablo once again, and now will dodge that rival with a dip down in class here.  Likely going to sit early and look to pounce late once again.  Must respect.

5

Dusty Dunes

Actually raced pretty well here in a tough spot on Sunday, and now finds himself in what should be a much easier spot on the double drop.  Should find success at this level, one of many with a shot in WIDE open finale.

6

Art Genta

I gave him a try here last time, and he put in a solid effort to finish up 2nd behind the fav.  Ended up with a picture perfect trip there though, just not sure things will work out that well here.

7

Preferred Stock

Tired badly after getting locked up in a duel up the backstretch last time, and any smoother journey combined with the class drop should put him in play here.  Your call.

8

Straight Dancer

Given the slight nod as the fav here in the finale, having proven that he can hold his own against even better company earlier this summer at Scioto.  No luck against tough group last time, but this should be more to his liking.

9

Big Bear Bow

Stuck out in post 9 here in a wide open crew.  I suppose his best effort could put him in the mix, should offer a big price as well.  We can’t use them all though.

10

No Oil Paint

Saved ground throughout last time en route to a close 3rd place finish at this level, but I am not sure things will work out that well after getting slammed with post 10 here.  I could only consider for the minor awards.
