Red Mile Race Reviews
Sunday, September 2nd
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 6-5-1-4
1
Hopenpromises
Appeared to have plenty of
hope and promise when she began her career, but now arrives off a dull effort
in $30k IL stake and a scratched ‘sick’ prior. Lands in a comfortable spot though.
2
Misspanderosa jones
Faded after getting away
close last time, and I’ll wait until we see some improvement before hopping
on board.
3
O You Foxy Thing
Arrives in town after a
so-so Q’fer in Indy, and it’s been over 2 months since she made her career
debut. Not sure what happened in
between, but asking quite a bit to have her ready to roll off the break.
4
It’s True
Raced evenly last time, but
keep in mind that she had to leave the track for 5 mins before the race after
she fell on the track and broke her harness.
Hard to expect her to fire after all that. Looks wide open. Maybe.
5
Scootin Keefe
Posted back to back wins on
the OH fair circuit, and doesn’t appear to have landed in an overly tough
group here tonight. I will take a shot
with her underneath.
6
Full Service
No luck at all on the off
track last time in Chi-town, but flashed some talent in her prior efforts
there. If well bred filly fires
anywhere close to her best shot, she should be able to handle these.
Race 2 Selections 1-6-5-2
1
Muncie
Fired with a nice front end
effort last time, and this guy appears to be really rounding the corner and
headed in the right direction. That
was an OH stakes colt that got by him that night as well. Must respect.
2
No Need for Brakes
Not sure what happened in
the OH fair last time, but this guy was ok on our own fair circuit throughout
the summer. Not sure if he can go with
the favs just yet, but should sit close from inside post. TS opted to #1.
3
Lifetime Mattjic
Has been average on the big
tracks in Indy thus far, and would have to pick it up quite a bit to go with
the top ones in here. I’ll wait for a
better spot. Smith opted to #1
instead.
4
River Canyon
Endured a tough first over
grind to finish 3rd here a few weeks ago on the off track, but
keep in mind that was only a 4 horse field.
Not sure why he has gone missing since. Not ready to hop on board just yet.
5
Ballistic Tip
Held his own against some
decent overnight company in Chicago,
but will likely be a short price in his local debut. No question he fits with these, but I will
look for some value elsewhere.
6
Argon Fire
Aggressively handled against
similar company last time, and dug in for the neck victory late at odds of
11-1. Continues to improve with each
start, any similar effort puts him close once again.
Race 3 Selections 5-3-9-1
1
Alluring Art
Closed from the clouds last
time to sprint away for her first career victory. Lands on the pole tonight in a fairly wide
open crew, but I’m not sure if things will set up that perfectly this time.
2
Art’s Chance
Took plenty of tote action
last time, but didn’t have anything to offer late after a picture perfect
journey. Not sure I can endorse him
after seeing that one.
3
Already Spent
This lass has been
hopelessly pinned in now in 2 consecutive starts, and she flew home after
finally shaking loose last time. If
she can get a smooth journey, I think she might have a big shot as an
upsetter.
4
Milburn
Really turned things around
last time to finish up closely against a similar crew. Any further improvement should put him
close once again. Your call. Smith opted to #5 instead.
5
Margarita Monday
Would you believe me if I
told you she was a FULL sister to World Champ, Bolt The Duer? Not on the same level as her brother
obviously, but it’s now or never for this mare! Smith opted here over #4.
6
Request to Win
Has held her own on the OH
fair circuit, but it doesn’t appear that she was facing very tough company
there. Request denied.
7
Show Me Some Skin
Didn’t have to move until
very late last time, and still couldn’t manage to hang in there for a piece
of it late. Things aren’t going to get
any easier here, and I’m off the bandwagon until we see her show more than
skin.
8
Looksgood onu
Lone 2yo in the field taking
on an older group tonight from post 8, not sure if I like that scenario.
9
Goodtimin Cam
Continued to show even
further improvement last time, sprinting home in 27 and change to finish up
an even 4th. He has some
speed if Shehan elects to use it, and I suspect we will see him take a shot
early. Maybe.
10
Mystic Rose
First time starter slammed
with post 10 in what appears to be a tough spot for her debut. I’ll watch one.
Race 4 Selections 1-9-6-8
1
Sterling Volo
Added lasix two back, and
she is probably just a touch below some of the top fillies on the east
coast. Having said that, she finds
major class relief here and looks primed for a huge wakeup call. Must respect.
2
Roscoes Rib Rack
Roscoe has been BBQ’d in 3
local starts against similar company, and I don’t see things getting any
easier here. I’ll wait until we see
some signs of improvement. Loney opted
to #9 instead.
3
Just Plain Jesse
We’ve seen some MI invaders
have some success here already, and Jesse ships in to debut for a live barn
as well. May fly under the radar a
bit, and could have a shot to hit the ticket at a price.
4
Manaloha
Continues to improve with
each local start, but lands in what will be toughest group he has faced to
this point. Would take a lot more to
trot with these.
5
Long’s Sunshine
Hasn’t had any luck since
arriving locally, and this spot has come up extremely difficult for this
level. Not tonight.
6
Allgrownup
Had a perfect ride behind
the fav and eventual winner last time, and ended up holding on for a 3rd
place finish. Not a bad effort, but
she hooks another solid filly here.
7
Moreagio
Appears overmatched against
these. Pass.
8
Floating Ivy
Has really rounded into form
over the last few starts, and managed to hit the board in those last couple
at Indy even after enduring some tough trips.
Any smooth journey should put him in play for the minor awards.
9
Rock With It
Very impressed by this guy
in his 2nd start with lasix off the break last time, as he ended
up sprinting by #6 late to pick up the place spot. Should continue to improve, Loney will have
to work him in it from way out here.
10
Massasauga
Looks like a tough spot for
his 2012 debut. Slammed with post 10
as well. Not a good recipe.
Race 5 Selections 3-5-2-6
1
Blazing Tower
Hasn’t had a lot of stamina
at this level recently, but should benefit from landing on the pole in the
small field. Still would have to find
a lot more to hang with these.
2
Blueridge Hall
Tried to go down the road
here on Thursday, and nearly lasted before tiring to finish 3rd. Appears to be a fairly wide open crew here
in small field. Must respect.
3
Paul T
Hung in for along way in the
mini-series final after coming first over Thursday, and appears to be
rounding into form for team Anthrop. I
can make a case here.
4
Broadway Fame
Had a nice start to the meet,
but has had some stamina issues after getting caught up in some big miles in
those last couple. Lands in a WIDE
open group here, but needs his very best.
Stiltner opted to #5 instead.
5
Hezasonof eclipse
Finally turned things around
last time to close well and finish up 2nd behind a heavy fav. Should be sitting much closer tonight in
small field, and appears to be heading in the right direction. Stiltner opted here over #4.
6
Mor Than Enuff Russ
Ended up 3rd
right behind #5 last time, and has held his own at this level. Absolutely wide open group he lands in
tonight, demand value with whomever you choose.
Race 6 Selections 1-9-4 $5,000
Guaranteed Pick 4 Starts Here See ticket
at the end
1
Supreme Day
The Queen of the KY Fairs
this season in the trotting ranks, who suffered her only career defeat out
here in the $10k final. Wasn’t
eligible for the KYSS. Lands in a nice
spot as she is looking for her 9th win on the year.
2
Fort Riley
Hasn’t been able to keep up
with similar. Pass.
3
Whats the Plot
OH fair invader shows
several breaks and doesn’t appear to have been facing all that tough of
company up there this season. I’ll
watch her go around the big track once first.
4
Kentucky Freeze
Filly barely dug in as my
lock of the night last time, but HL really never asked her at all until the
final strides when he realized it was going to be close after all. I would expect her to sit close to the lead
once again.
5
Iamalucky lucky Man
Another that is hard to gage
off his IL fair starts, but I’ll have to watch him tour the oval once before
endorsing regardless of how lucky he is.
6
Ranggo Kid
Flashed a little late trot
last time to finish up a close 4th behind #4, but he is still
looking for his first on the board finish in his career. Probably the easiest field he has seen thus
far in his career tonight though.
7
CG’s Rock Star
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to hang with these just yet.
Pass.
8
JP That Big George
Hasn’t had much stamina to
offer in the AM, and I’ll watch him go around in his career debut before
hopping on board. Loney opted to #1
instead.
9
MJ’s Wings Away
Solid 2nd place
finish behind a runaway winner and heavy fav last time, and I am sure TS will
be looking to leave for position from post 9.
Should sit close once again.
Race 7 Selections 1-7-9-10
1
Theprincess deals
Sat far off the lead last
time, and actually finished up with a little pace compared to her first local
try. Makes her 3rd start
off the brief layoff here, and the princess sports a 10 for 24 record on the
year. Should improve.
2
West Coast Arturo
Hasn’t had much luck at this
level locally, and appears to have hooked another solid group here. Not tonight.
3
Willing Heart
Parked every step and never
got worked into the min-series final last time, but was very sharp when she
was put in play in the start prior.
Tyler Smith opted to #1 instead.
4
Hoosier GB Diamond
Tried to go down the road
last week, only to tire late and finish 6th. Faces many of those same rivals again
tonight, and doesn’t appear that things will be any easier for her. Pass.
5
Shesgot whteveritis
Chi-town invader is 0 for 23
on the season, but she may pick it up a bit with the move back to the big
track. Price should be right, and barn
has had some success here. All positive
signs.
6
Yank My Rope
Added lasix in the AM, and
that could certainly help her moving forward.
She was just a touch below the top mares at this level in the first go
around, so I’ll watch closely for any improvement. Smith opted to #1 instead.
7
JB’s Cutie
Appeared to be buried on the
rail turning for home last week, but she exploded when she was finally able
to shake loose to score a neck victory.
That’s 2 in a row where she didn’t get out until very late. I would expect her to be out in the flow
from post 7, and she may really rock if she gets clear sailing sooner. Must respect.
8
Baby Blue Pajamas
Parlayed a perfect trip into
a 2nd place finish in conditioned company last time, and that was
a solid improvement over what we had seen locally thus far. One of several with a chance in big bulky
field. JN opted to #7 instead.
9
My Surfer Girl
If #7 was buried last time,
than this mare was double buried.
Looked like she was never going to have room but she found some and
was FLYING up the inside. No question
she fits with these.
10
Thank You Mamma
Slammed with post 10 in full
field, but this mare got the job done against a solid field of males the last
time we saw her in town. No question
Whisman will have to move forward off the gate, it won’t be easy though.
11
Twinklefire two
Yet to fire in 2 local
starts, and retains longshot status from the 2nd tier. Pass.
Race 8 Selections 4-1-6-2
1
Wesley Gayle
Appears to have landed in a
much softer spot than last time, and filly should continue to improve in her
5th career try. No reason
why she shouldn’t get away very close from inside post. Must respect.
2
Kacy’s Photo
Was hanging in there before
making a break in her lasix debut last week, and it certainly appears that
she may be improving. However, still
asking quite a bit for her to go with these at this point.
3
JohnJohn Hilltopper
Came up empty in his first
couple of local tries, would take a complete turnaround against these.
4
Richesse Oblige
Made a break in the $190k
stake last time in Indy, but she beat a decent crew of older horses in the
local start prior. Appears to be the
one to beat if she minds her manners.
Smith opted here over #’s 2 & 10.
5
Maxaman
No question this guy has the
ability to go with these, but he likes to make breaks from time to time. Not a bad try for what was essentially his
first start on the year last time, should continue to improve if he
trots.
6
I Am the King
The King has hit the board
in 8 of 11 on the IL fair circuit, and should continue to improve with the
move to the big track. Price should be
right as well, I may take a shot with him underneath.
7
Buy Me Emeralds
Doesn’t appear to be ready
to go with these just yet. Pass.
8
Blueridge Elisa
Was well beaten by #4 2
starts back, and appears to be overmatched once again.
9
Winky’s Truffle
Trotted evenly in her career
debut, but lands in post 9 against another solid crew here and I would expect
another off the pace try from far back.
Not yet.
10
Double Dip
Finished far back in the
only Q’fer she didn’t make a break, doesn’t appear ready for these. Pass.
Race 9 Selections 8-4-9-6
1
Singlemalt whiskey
Outpaced against similar
company last time. Pass.
2
Lighting Reno
Never in it in his last few
tries, and looks to have landed in tough once again. Not tonight. Jerrell opted to #5 instead.
3
Fox Valley Blitzen
Handled aggressively last
time at this level, but ended up tiring badly late to finish far back. No question he is better than that, but
I’ll wait until we see some signs of life before hopping on board.
4
Cruise to Fame
A perfect tightner off the
nearly 3 month layoff last time, as he closed nicely on the end of it after
sitting last early to finish 4th.
Barn has been on an absolute roll.
Can’t ignore.
5
Sailors Sky
Showed a lot of improvement
last time as well by closing from far back to finish 4th behind a
heavy fav. Lands in a perfect mid-pack
post and should be able to work out a nice cover trip. Maybe.
RJ opted here over #2.
6
Hawaiian Alibi
Added lasix as soon as he
arrived, and now removed it again in the AM.
Connections still obviously tinkering with him, and we’ll see if he
fires with a better performance here.
7
SBD First Blood
Aggressively driven from
post 10 in his 2nd local try, but even though he improved
tremendously off that first try he still didn’t have a lot to offer late
after finding clearance. Would have to
pick things up quite a bit.
8
Paradise Ragtime
Takes another drop in class
tonight after nearly going down the road last time through some quick
fractions. Ended up finishing 4th
behind a solid trio, and looks like a perfect spot for him to pop one
off.
9
Whersme luckycharms
A big improvement from his
first local try last time, after he was aggressively handled from post
9. Lands in an outside post once
again, but any similar effort should put him squarely in the mix.
10
Princess Wendy
Added the hobbles back after
a couple of breaks, but she didn’t have much pace from the pole against a
similar crew. Now moves to the far
outside. Not a good scenario.
Race 10 Selections 8-2-4-7
1
Rodin
Was overmatched against some
nice colts in $15k KYSS, and now drops into a spot that should be much better
for him tonight. Lands on the pole as
well, and should sit close. Maybe. Bolon opted here over #4.
2
Her Misconduct
Raced evenly at this level
over her last several starts, and now dodges many of her main rivals
tonight. Appears to be well spotted
and lands in a nice inside starting slot.
Must respect.
3
Jazzie Music
Chased the blazing early
pace last time, and managed to finish up a close 3rd with broken
equipment. Should continue to improve
in her 3rd start with lasix tonight.
4
Momspacific flight
Steps up a notch after
racing well in her only 2 local appearances, but appears to have landed in
against a bit tougher crew tonight.
I’m sure Bolon will have her close to the lead, but she will need even
more.
5
The Hit Lady
I believe she was going to
be 3rd last week, but the 2 horses outside of her hooked wheels
which made her win by default. Steps
up another level here, and not sure I can endorse her against these.
6
Doc’s Coco
Flashed a ton of early speed
in her last, only to be mowed down late and have to settle for 2nd. A lot of early speed in this one, so not
sure she will be able to get away with that here. Needs her very best.
7
Lady Cambest
Hasn’t had a lot of success
taking on similar company here thus far, but she should continue to improve
in what is her 4th start back off an extended layoff. Your call.
8
Jena Mac Love
Parlayed a couple of perfect
trips into close finishes in her first 2 local starts, and probably lands in
an even softer spot tonight. No
question she fits with these on her best night.
9
Blue By U
Tired badly in her only
local try, and lands back in post 9 once again. Not for me.
10
Sir Johnny Colt
Beat #5 off a perfect trip
here 3 starts back, but Johnny has his work cut out from way out here. I’ll pass.
Race 11 Selections 1-2-5-7-10 10 CENT SUPER HI
FIVE
1
Diannas May Day
Takes a substantial plunge
in class to our bottom condition for mares, after holding her own against
much better thus far. Lands on the
pole as well. Lots to like.
2
Trishie Mae
No chance last time after
getting parked every single step of the mile, but she could certainly go with
these with a smooth journey on her best day.
Should sit close.
3
Pocket Belle
13yo mare drops into our
bottom condition after not having much success in the claiming ranks this
year. Not an overly tough crew here,
but she would still need to pick it up quite a bit.
4
GD Rosanne
Yet to hit the board in 13
tries, and doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with these. Pass.
5
Georgian Jiffyjane
She will win the best
dressed award with her pink equipment, and she finally showed a bit of life
last time after finishing up an even 4th. Any similar effort puts her in the mix once
again.
6
Shirleybaerg
Has had some severe stamina
issues since arriving locally.
Pass.
7
Scootin in Secret
Raced evenly in her first
local try after facing decent company up in Toledo.
That was a solid effort, and any further improvement would give her a
chance to hit the ticket.
8
Scenic Bay
Raced much better last time,
but still going to have to find a way to hang around late.
9
Miss Kelley Lynne
Outsprinted in her first
local try, and things aren’t going to get any easier here. Has shown some ability in the past, but
hard to endorse her after the last one.
10
It’s Fun
Wore down the leaders with a
game first over score here on Thursday, and draws back in against a similar
crew but gets slammed with post 10.
Not sure things will set up well from way out here.
