Red Mile Race Reviews
Sunday, October 7th
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 4-1-2
1
Anndrovette
Richest mare in the field
has put together a solid campaign against the very top older mares in North America.
Any of these could win on their best day. Likely to be decided by how the race
develops. Your call.
2
Swinging Beauty
Nearly pulled off a 72-1
shocker in the $395k Milton
last time after getting a sizzling pace to chase from far back. Should sit much closer here in short field. Needs her very best punch.
3
Ginger and Fred
Another that came absolutely
flying on the end of that last mile from far back. Continues to pile up earnings, and is
another with a shot here in the wide open short field. Maybe.
4
Drop the Ball
Tired late after being used
extremely hard last time in Canada,
but has probably been the most consistent mare on the top level all
season. She has wicked speed when she
is on top of her game.
5
Rocklamation
Perfectly piloted to a win
in the $395k Milton
last time in a new LT best. She can
race from on or off the pace, plenty of options here for Morrill but I would
expect an aggressive steer here in short field.
Race 2 Selections 6-4-3-2
1
Rome
Showed a bit of improvement
last time, but still appears to be a notch or two below the favs in
here. Pass.
2
Mikesbrother frank
A decent effort here last
week against similar, but he was no match for #6 down the lane. Would still need to pick things up quite a
bit to make any major noise against these.
3
Air Stewart
Towed into it perfectly as
the fav last week, but was unable to rally past his rivals down the
lane. Not sure he is ready to go with
the fav in here, but certainly a shot for the minor awards. Campbell
opted here over #1.
4
Red Rocks
Showed plenty of heart last
week to dig in down on the inside and outfight his rivals down the lane. Hooks a tough rival here in #6, will have
to improve even more.
5
JJ’s Beat the Rap
Lost all chance after a
break at the start last week, and I’m not sure he packs the speed to hang
with the top ones in this crew.
6
Mr Chicago
Ultra impressive effort last
week to draw away to an easy win in a new LT best. Lightly raced 3yo appears to have finally
put it all together. Hard to go
against after seeing that. Must
respect.
7
Countmy muscles
Tired badly down the lane
after blasting early last week, and stamina appears to be the main
concern. Not today.
Race 3 Selections 7-6-1-3
1
On The Bright Side
Dug in gamely down the lane
last week to fend off her rivals, but appears to have hooked a bit tougher
crew here in opening heat of Filly Futurity.
Needs to step it up even more.
Gingras opted to #7 instead.
2
Canadian Justice
Came first up fairly early
last week against #1, and never really threatened for any of the major awards
as she tired down the lane to finish behind the top trio. Things aren’t going to get any easier
here.
3
Oasis Dream
Absolutely flying on the end
of it after shaking loose late last time to finish up a close 3rd
behind #6. Appears to be heading in
the right direction now, any smoother journey puts her close once again.
4
Can’t Have My Moni
Daughter of the great Moni
Maker, but she is yet to prove that she can hang with the best stakes fillies
in the country. Appears to be a tough
spot for her, especially after consecutive breaks.
5
Real Babe
Lost all chance with an
untimely break at the start here last week, and is another that would really
have to step things up to hang with the top ones today.
6
Chilitoday hotamale
Roared by her rivals down
the lane here last week after getting set up perfectly with plenty of pace to
chase. Not sure things will set up
that perfectly here, but her best effort still puts her squarely in the mix.
7
Superstar Hanover
Tired badly after getting
caught up in the quick early pace last week, but she has proven that she can
hold her own on the top level all season.
Needs a big rebound here.
Gingras opted here over #1, I’ll do the same.
Race 4 Selections 5-1-4-3
1
Valdonna
Made a break when trying to
keep up with the top fillies last week, and will likely be chasing a quick
pace in here once again. Should be
able to pick off some of her rivals down the lane if she keeps her mind on
business.
2
D’orsay
Perfect trip behind the
eventual winner here last week, but lands in a much more difficult spot
here. Would have to find a lot more
speed to hang with the top ones in here.
3
Bluff`
Amazing recovery after
losing at least 10 lengths at the start last week, and I don’t think there is
any question she will be blasting to the top in here if she minds her
manners. May get a nice trip behind
#6.
4
Personal Style
Made a break while in the
middle of a move on the far turn last week, and has been a fringe player on
the national stakes scene all year. I
would expect an off the pace try again here, may pick up some of the pieces
late.
5
Check Me Out
Yet another World Record
performance last week! An Amazing
Filly! Connections say she will
continue to race for years to come, we can only hope to be that lucky! May get a big pace to chase here, can she
break her own WR yet again?
6
Win Missy B
Blazed through some quick
fractions here last week, an expectedly tired a bit late. Likely to blast once again here, plenty of
early speed in here with #3 as well.
7
Dream On Hanover
No match for the top pair
last week, and benefitted from a lot of breakers to hold the show spot. Would have to pick things up quite a bit to
hang closer to this crew.
Race 5 Selections 3-1-5-2
1
Little Brown Fox
Ultra consistent all season
long in hitting the board in 12 of 13.
Nailed in the final stride last week by the colt that set on his
back. Lands on the pole, no question
he is the one to beat.
2
Another Amaretto
Almost lasted down the lane
last week after an aggressive steer from his pilot, still a fantastic effort
to finish up 2nd. Appears
to be rounding the corner at the right time.
Will need his very best once again.
3
Gym Tan Laundry
Trainer Noel Daley said a
tire was completely messed up early during the mile last week, so that
explains the conservative steer and 4th place finish. No question he can go with these on his
best day, may offer value.
4
Lindys Jersey Boy
Lost all chance with a break
at the start last week, and hasn’t proven that he can go with the best of the
best just yet. I’ll wait for a better
spot.
5
Archangel
A victim of circumstances in
the $225k NYSS Final, as he not only had to deal with post 8 but also a
driving rain storm that had just started.
Needs a big rebound here, connections opt to go with Tetrick as
well.
6
Fogelberg
Arrives locally after
consecutive breaks and lands in a shark tank.
Not today.
Race 6 Selections 7-2-6-1
1
Solvato
Ended up with a picture
perfect journey behind #7 last week, and parlayed that into a nice runner up
finish. Should sit very close from the
pole once again. Maybe.
2
Appomattox
Connections were high on
this guy last week, and he responded with probably the biggest mile of his
career. Lands in an ultra competitive
crew here, will have to improve even more.
3
Magic Tonight
Has held his own against the
top level all season, but is coming off a scratched sick and almost a month
on the shelf prior to today. Will we
get his best effort? Not sure.
4
Money on my Mind
Perfectly piloted last time
to nail the heavy fav in the final stride at 19-1! AM will likely put him in play early, any
further improvement puts him squarely in the mix once again.
5
My MVP
Couldn’t go by for the win
as a heavy fav in LC action last week, and now lands in against the best of
the best here. Did finish 3rd
earlier this summer in $1.5 million Hambo, but if he couldn’t beat them last
week…
6
Banker Volo
Unleashed a big rally down
the lane last week to finish up a close 3rd behind #4. Likely to be coming from off it once again,
in a field packed with early speed.
Needs his very best punch here.
7
Guccio
Appears to have really
turned the corner since adding hobbles 3 starts back in Canada, he was
wrapped up down the lane last week in sprinting away with a 26.1 kicker. I’m on board once again.
SEE TV MONITORS FOR RACE 7 SELECTIONS. SECOND HEAT FILLY FUTURITY
Race 8 Selections 7-10-3-6
1
Arc De Triumph
Arrives locally after over a
month on the shelf, not sure he packs the speed to hang with the favs in
here.
2
Defying Gravity
Sprinted home fairly well
here last week against similar company, but he is going to have to improve
even more to contend for any of the major awards.
3
One Through Ten
Raced evenly in his last 2
starts since joining a new barn, and finally drops out of stakes company in
what should be a much more manageable spot.
Not an easy crew though, still needs his very best. D. Miller opted here over #5.
4
Maytime Terror
Avoided the breaker (#10) in
front of him for the most part last week, and finished up a solid 2nd
after the nice journey. Appears to be
one of several with a big shot in here.
5
Arringarosa
Rode the cones here last
week en route to a close 3rd place finish. Plenty of options from perfect mid-pack
post, but a solid group here in big bulky field. D. Miller opted to #3 instead.
6
Big Jer
MI champ was outpaced down
the lane last week, but he does get a touch of post relief here in post 6
today. Maybe a more aggressive steer
here, doesn’t appear to be a ton of speed inside him. Price should be right.
7
Fiveknuckle shuffle
How did we let a horse that
had never missed the board get off at 20-1 last week? No seriously, how? Dead game off the layoff last time, should
continue to improve even more here.
8
Intervention
Raced evenly from far back
last week, and may get an even better pace to chase here in huge 11 horse
field. Still going to have to find a
bit more. A. Miller opted to #10
instead.
9
Yakkity Yak Jack
Hug in there for a long way
after coming first over last week, but ends up stuck way out in post 9 here
against a similar crew. Not sure I
like how things set up for him here.
10
Dutch Richman
Took a bad step and went
into a break in the blink of an eye last week as a heavy fav. No question he has the ability to go with
this crew, only option is to blast from way out here. Needs a big rebound. AM chose over #8.
11
Iron N Steel
OH invader appears
overmatched against these. Pass.
SEE TV MONITORS FOR RACE 9 SELECTIONS. SECOND HEAT KY FUTURITY
RACE 10 – RACE OFF, IF NECESSARY 3RD HEAT
Race 11 Selections 7-3-2-5
1
Louie the Fourth
We haven’t seen him in
almost 45 days now, and not sure he is ready to go with the top ones in this
crew.
2
Zot
Flying in the final
sixteenth last week, only to come up a nose short. Lands back in another similar crew here,
should sit close once again from inside post.
Lachance opted to #7 instead.
3
Say It’s True
Finished up a nice 2nd
behind a solid 3yo last week, will likely be looking to pick up the pieces
late again in here.
4
Wheels
Closed well alongside #2
down the lane last week, finishing up less than a length behind the
winner. Still not sure he is ready to
go with the top ones in here, needs to pick it up even more.
5
The Lindy Reserve
Appeared en route to an easy
win as he cleared past the half but was unable to go with the eventual winner
down the lane as the heavy fav. May
look for a more conservative steer here, his best puts him in the mix.
6
Bristol
Sprinted home on closing
night of our overnight meet to finish up a close 2nd, but appears
to have hooked a much tougher group today.
Not sure he is ready to go with the top ones in this crew.
7
Modern Family
Finished behind a couple of
nice colts in the Bluegrass last week after
adding lasix prior. Lands in what
should be a much more comfortable spot here.
I’m on board. Lachance opted
here over #2.
RACE 12 – RACE OFF, IF NECESSARY 3RD HEAT
Race 13 Selections 5-4-6-1
1
Arch Madness
$3.6 million earner was no
match for #4 last week, but may get to race from behind his main rivals
here. Ultra consistent throughout his
career, hitting the board in 12 of 13 on the season. His best puts him close.
2
Wishing Stone
The 2010 KY Futurity Champ
is the wildcard of the crew, returning from overseas back into the barn of
trainer Dewayne Minor. He loves this
track, beat a nice mare in the local Q’fer.
But is he ready for his very best?
3
Haulin Laser
Looks to be overmatched
against this crew. Pass.
4
Chapter Seven
Unleashed a big move when
Tetrick called on him in a tune up last week, but lands back in a bit tougher
spot here against both rivals that have beaten him (4 & 6) this
season. Has wicked speed when he’s on
top of his game.
5
Hot Shot Blue Chip
Has always been one of my
favs, and he arrives locally riding a 3 race win streak. Has beaten all of his main rivals in here
in those starts. Should provide plenty
of value as well, I can make a case.
6
Mister Herbie
Absolutely nowhere to go in
the $200k Credit Winner last time.
Appeared overloaded with trot down the lane, and meets back up with
all 3 that beat him there today. Needs
his very best, should be blasting early.
Race 14 Selections 2-8-5-3 Start of $10,000 Pick 4 See Ticket at the end
1
Mystical Starlight
Has been holding her own
against some tough overnight company in PA recently, but she will need to
find some more pop down the lane if she is going to come home with this
crew. Would have to pick it up even
more.
2
Tamla Celeber
I’m sure many of you
remember Giant Diablo who holds the track record here with Donato Hanover, and now we
have another talented mare from the same connections. Local TT was VERY impressive! I’ll take a shot.
3
Action Broadway
Never fired on the half mile
oval on Jug Day, but had been holding her own quite well against the top
level mares prior on the east coast.
Reunites with Sears today.
Maybe.
4
Magic Wheel
No chance after getting
parked every step last time at Saratoga,
and made a break in the start prior on Jug Day. Hasn’t proven she can beat this kind just
yet, I’ll wait for a better spot.
5
Cedar Dove
Added lasix in the local
Q’fer when she finished up a nice 2nd behind Wishing Stone, and
she LOVED this track last year in winning the KY Filly Futurity. Plenty of options from perfect mid-pack
post.
6
Pantholops
Saved all the ground last
time at Delaware
to finish up behind #8 at a big price.
Lands in another tough group here, will have to pick things up even
more.
7
Beatgoeson Hanover
Typically does her best work
from off the pace, and I am assuming she will like the stretch back out to
the big track today. Should have
plenty of pace to chase in power packed field.
8
Frenchfrys Nvinegar
Has a wicked early turn of
foot, and no doubt she will be blasting early for JJ from way out here. Has proven that she can go with the top
level, catch her if you can.
9
Pembroke Heat Wave
In the midst of a career
best season with almost $300k in the bank, picking up some major checks
against this type of company all year long.
Certainly has her work cut out from way out here today though.
Race 15 Selections 8-3-5-2
1
Sterling Volo
Picked up the pieces to
finish a nice 2nd last week, and has been holding her own against
similar company since arriving locally.
Should sit close form the pole.
Maybe.
2
Southwind Moni
Never fired after sitting
far back off the torrid early pace last week, and will need a big rebound
after landing in a competitive crew once again. Maybe underneath. D. Miller opted here over #7.
3
Tactical Caviar
No shot last time after
getting caught up in the blazing fractions, yet still managed to hold 3rd
down the lane. Any smoother journey
should put her squarely in the mix.
4
Fancy
Trotted evenly against a
solid crew last week, but would still need to pick things up a bit to contend
for any of the major awards. Not
today.
5
Holier Than Thou
Put in a fairly dull effort
last time in the $45k Keystone Classic at The Meadows as the heavy fav, but
was sharp after being aggressively handled in the local start prior. Needs her very best punch here.
6
Keeping Grace
Never in it last time, and
appears overmatched once again.
Pass.
7
Aldebaran Malibu
Held her own against similar
company on the east coast, and will likely be blasting to the top once
again. Will have to carry her speed a
long way to get the job done here. D.
Miller opted to #2 instead.
8
Massive Drama
Actually wasn’t all that bad
of a start last time, finishing up less than a length behind #3 to finish 4th. Made an aggressive move at the early
leader, she can go with these on her best day. Live longshot? Yes.
Race 16 Selections 2-4-7-5
1
Allthatgltrs isgold
Held his own against many of
these rivals all season long, but didn’t fire with anywhere near his best
effort last time at Indy. Will have to
get better in a hurry to keep up with this crew.
2
Foreclosure
Raced evenly behind #7 last
time at Mohawk, and flashed some wicked front end speed in the start
prior. Appears to have changed barns
prior to today, will we see any improvement?
Price should be right!
3
We Will See
Had a big win here last year
in this event, but hasn’t been on top of his game against many of these same
rivals recently. Coming off a
scratched sick line as well. I’ll
watch this one.
4
Golden Receiver
Packs a TON of early speed,
and he is very hard to get by down the lane when he gets any kind of breather
in the mile whatsoever. Catch him if
you can. Tetrick opted here over
#6.
5
Bettor Sweet
Closed well to finish up
behind #4 last time at Pocono, and finished up just behind #8 in the 2 starts
prior. Typically always very close,
his best effort should produce the same result here.
6
St Elmo Hero
Tracked #7 throughout last
time in Canada,
yet was no match for him down the lane.
Would have to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any of the
major awards in here. Not today. Tetrick opted to #4 instead.
7
Aracache Hanover
Arrives locally after back
to back wins in his last couple in Canada, no doubt he is RAZOR
sharp right now. I would expect McNair
to put him in play early. Must
respect.
8
Foiled Again
Continues to produce unreal
earnings season after season, now with over $4.4 million in the bank. Will need his very best today from way out
here, lands in another tough group.
Race 17 Selections 9-8-2-5-11
1
Feel the Pressure
Packed it in early last week
after being covered up nicely. Things
aren’t going to get any easier with #9 in the mix now. Pass.
2
Delicious
Has been facing some of the
very best fillies in the country all season, and should find this to be a
much more comfortable spot. I’ll give
her a shot underneath.
3
Gotcha Girl
Didn’t have much to offer
after the change of tactics last week, and would need a complete turnaround
to hang with the top ones in here.
4
Majestic Kash
Showed a bit of improvement
last week, but would still need a lot more to hang with the favs in
here.
5
Voluptuous Ronda
A nice 2nd place
effort last week after an aggressive move to the top down the backside. Plenty of options once again from mid-pack
post. Maybe. Gingras opted to #9 instead.
6
Belle Nana
Unable to keep up with
stakes company last time, and drops into what should be a much more
manageable level here in LC action.
Not an easy crew though, would still have to pick things up quite a
bit. DM opted to #10.
7
Knockout Doll
Actually appeared to have a
bit of trot before the break down the lane last week, but hasn’t proven that
she can go with this kind prior. I’ll
pass for now.
8
Love N Lindy
Sprinted away to an absolute
romp against similar last week in a new LT best. Has been ultra consistent all year, hitting
the board in 10 of 12. Looks clearly 2nd
best behind the fav.
9
Maven
Beaten less than a length in
a World Record mile last week, and lands in a very comfortable spot here
after not being eligible to the Filly Futurity. No doubt the one to beat. Gingras opted here over #5.
10
Rose Run Nellie
Ohio triple crown winner had a nice trip following up the
eventual winner last time, but she didn’t have a lot to offer down the
lane. Lands in post 10 once again,
won’t be easy from way out here. DM
opted here over #6.
11
Northern Miss Hall
KY Sires Stakes Champ didn’t
particularly fire her best effort when launching a first over attack last
week, but still dug in down the lane to finish 3rd. Not a huge fan of 2nd tier
trotters, needs her very best.
