Red Mile Race Reviews

Sunday, August 25th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                3-6-2

1

Smiley

Put in a decent AM work locally after making a break in his career debut at The Big M.  Not an overly tough group, but I will watch him go around once first.

2

Mr Justice

3yo finished up behind a solid filly the last time we saw him locally, but followed that up with a dull effort at Hoosier last time out.  A year older than many of his rivals here, should be sitting on or near the lead.  Maybe.

3

Johnny Boy F

Trotted evenly in his career debut in mid-level stakes company to finish 4th.  Should find this to be a much more comfortable spot, and any further improvement should give him a big chance.

4

Quiet Giant

Finished up behind #1 in the local Q’fer, and I’ll watch one first.  Making his career debut tonight.

5

Shawnee Brave

Finished up behind #’s 1 & 4 here in the AM, and I’ll watch this guy go around once under the lights as well.

6

Alwaysin blackpedia

Filly has flashed some speed in her brief career, but she has also made breaks in half of her LT starts including last time here locally.  No question she fits if she minds her manners.

7

Mity Savage

Made breaks in both local tries, and appears overmatched once again.  Pass.

Race 2                     Selections                                3-5-4

1

Caribbean Dream

Has had some major stamina issues recently, and not sure I can see things getting any better here.  Pass.

2

Maxaman

Appeared to be tiring at the head of the lane before making the break last time, and we’ve yet to see him finish up his miles thus far this season.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of life.

3

Audio

Took a shot against stakes company last time, which proved to be too much.  Substantial drop down tonight into overnight company, where her best effort puts her squarely in the mix.

4

Steffi S

Lost all chance with the break on the sloppy track last time, and I suppose we can excuse that since it was her first career break.  I would expect conservative handling here, and an off the pace try late.  Underneath.

5

Supreme Day

Dominated the KY Fair Circuit again this season, even though she may have tailed off just a bit over the last couple of starts.  Should enjoy the class relief tonight, catch her if you can.

6

Andetorn Hall

Tired badly on the end of it after being under aggressive piloting here on Thursday.  Has a ton of early speed, but stamina still appears to be the main issue.  I’ll watch this one.

Race 3                     Selections                                2-5-1

1

Bluebird Musical

Hasn’t had much late kick here in her most recent efforts, but does take a fairly substantial drop down tonight and lands on the pole as well.  Might wake her up a bit.  Your call.

2

JB’s Cutie

OH invader has had some success here in the past, including a 54.3 victory here last season.  Doesn’t appear to be in the best of form recently, but she should enjoy the stretch back out to the mile oval.

3

You Raise Me Up

Yet another that hasn’t been on top of her game recently, but does have plenty of good efforts in her past.  Plenty of early speed if TT elects to use it, still looking for her 1st win of the season.  Maybe.

4

West Coast Arturo

12yo hasn’t fired this season locally, would take a complete turnaround.  Not for me.

5

Happy Hour Hottie

Blasted from outside post here on Thursday, and ended up tiring just a bit on the end of it after getting caught up in a quick early pace.  Facing what appears to be the softest crew she has faced since arriving locally tonight.

6

Hatsoff for Gracie

Only 1 for 54 the last couple of seasons, and hasn’t been overly impressive the two times we’ve seen her race locally this season.  Not sure I can endorse her just yet.

7

Hoosier Dr Debby

Well beaten each time we’ve seen her this season.  Pass.

Race 4                     Selections                                2-7-6-3                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Laughing King

Absolutely buried against top stakes company in his local debut, but should really enjoy the move into conditioned company tonight.  Still not sure I’m ready to hop on board though, likely a short price here.

2

Blue Diamonds

Got the job done as the fav last time, and lands in another similar crew where she is likely going to be the one to beat once again.  Anything similar to that last effort should be enough.

3

Flatrock flower

Easy victory here over the sloppy track last week, but steps up to take on a tougher crew here.  Was soundly defeated by #2 two starts back.  Will have to pick things up quite a bit.

4

Alfredo Dream

Hasn’t really fired his best effort yet this season, and hooked an extremely tough crew in that last try against stakes colts.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

5

B Q Bull

Rode the cones to an even 4th place finish last time against similar company, and that is about the best I could see him doing again in here.  Possibly a shot at the minor awards in the superfecta.

6

Richesse Oblige

Put together a solid first over attack last time off the brief layoff, only to shorten strides a bit in deep stretch en route to a 3rd place finish.  Not a bad effort, should continue to improve.

7

Lipstick Rose

Solid local debut, nearly dug in for the victory late before being passed by a colt that came back to race in the KYSS last night.  Likely blasting out once again.  Anything similar puts her close.

8

Moreagio

Added lasix last time, and it did appear to help some.  Still facing a tough task tonight though after landing on the outside against solid foes.  I’ll pass for now.

Race 5                     Selections                                2-3-1

1

Bad Cop

Never really fired in his first local try 3 starts back, but does show some nice miles at Hoosier with TT in the bike.  Anything similar to those efforts should put him close.

2

Final Flash

A couple of even efforts against top level company thus far, before finally getting some class relief here tonight.  Has a ton of early speed and this finally looks like a spot where AE might send him right down the road.  Big shot.

3

Drew Bromac

A decent local debut off the brief layoff, giving up 2nd to #5 in deep stretch.  Should continue to improve, and keep in mind he was large at Bluegrass Downs this year, ending the meet 5 for 5.  Live longshot?  I think so.

4

Bar B’s Apache Cam

Raced evenly against tough company last time, and is one of many with a shot in here in what appears to be a fairly wide open field.  No question he fits with these.

5

Topville Diamond

Has been ‘ok’ in 2 local starts, but starting to step up to the level that might end up being a notch or two above his head.  Not willing to accept a short price on him in here.

6

Ab’s Beach Boy

Still not completely on top of his game, but keep in mind that was an improved effort here last week.  We should see even more improvement tonight in 3rd start back of the season.  I’ll watch one more time.

7

Royal Stargazer

A couple of solid efforts to begin his local campaign, and lands on the outside tonight in contentious crew.  No question he fits with these.  Again, fairly wide open field here.

Race 6                     Selections                                5-7-6                       $5,000 Guaranteed Pick 4                      See Ticket at the end

1

Manaloha

Trotted evenly at this level in his last couple of starts, but will still need to pick things up a bit to contend for any of the major awards.

2

Victoria Valley

Doesn’t appear to pack the speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  Pass.

3

Marian’s Man

Disappointed as the fav in his first start of the layoff here last week, and it’s hard to jump back on the 13yo’s bandwagon after seeing that.  I’ll wait until we see him turn things around a bit.

4

OGs Divine Lady

Must admit that she raced MUCH better last time than she looked on the track prior to the race.  Unleashed a furious rally down the lane to pick up 3rd.  Should continue to improve in 4th start back on the season.

5

Global Winner K

Finished far back but against MUCH tougher company in his only local start, and now takes a substantial plunge in class and picks up the services of TT.  All positive indicators, I’ll hop on board.

6

Patty Says So

Patty hasn’t packed her best punch yet this season, but removes lasix tonight after making a break in the try prior.  I would assume connections are still tinkering with her a bit.  Maybe an off the pace rally here.

7

Dawns a Breakin

Mare takes a drop down tonight after a couple of solid efforts against tougher company since arriving locally.  Probably going to have to trot a LT mark to win this, but no question she fits with these.

8

MJ’s Be There

11yo is tough to gage arriving in from the fairs, and I’ll watch him tour the oval once before hopping on board.

9

Massasauga

Continues to improve a bit , and put a mild scare into the fav last time in deep stretch at a big price.  Hooks what might be a bit tougher group tonight, but any further improvement would put him in play.

10

Holligram

Has had some severe stamina problems recently and lands on the outside as well.  Not typically a recipe for success.

Race 7                     Selections                                8-1-2-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Big Town Arizona

Rode the cones to an even 3rd place finish last time, and lands in what should be an even easier spot tonight.  Lands on the pole once again, I can make a case here.

2

Paul the Powerful

Paul was under aggressive handling here on Thursday, popping out and taking a shot before the half into demanding fractions.  Still dug in for 4th down the lane.  Anything similar puts him close.

3

Stone Cold Fever

Has finished well up the track in each local start.  Pass.

4

Tymeto B Bluegrass

Takes a drop down again tonight after finishing far back up in class here on Thursday.  Would still have to pick things up quite a bit to hang with the top ones in here.

5

Change Agent

Disappointed as the fav here on Thursday, but keep in mind he did likely need the start coming off the scratched ‘sick’ line.  Needs his very best here.

6

Duke Towne

Never got involved here on Thursday, and we’ve still yet to see his best effort since arriving here locally.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

7

Misconception

No luck in either local start.  Would take a complete turnaround here.

8

Great Scot

Really like the first over effort at the OH fair last time, as he finished up a game 2nd behind a pretty nice rival.  Not an overly tough group here, and the price should be right on this guy.  I’m on board.

9

Mor Storms Coming

0 for 34 the last couple of seasons, but does have a nice even 4th place finish under his belt to kick off his local campaign.  Probably about the best he could hope for once again.

Race 8                     Selections                                8-7-5

1

Electric Allie

Absolutely no stamina recently against similar company, would need a LOT more here.  Pass.

2

Norma Rei

1st time starter was ‘ok’ here in the AM, but I’ll watch her tour the oval once first before hopping on board.

3

Blueridge Hera

Finished far back against similar company last time, and can’t see things changing tonight.  Not for me.

4

Piano in the Dark

No luck against similar company recently, and doesn’t appear things are going to get any easier here.  Pass.

5

J T’s First

Drops back in for the claiming tag tonight after trying out straight NW last time, and should find this level much more to her liking.  Her best effort should put her in play.

6

Charley Strong

Nice effort to pick up his 1st career win last time, but now steps up to take on some decent foes tonight.  Not sure he is ready for the top ones in here just yet.

7

Bettor’s Jackpot

Closed strongly on the end of his mile last time in deep stretch to pick up 3rd.  Picks up Tetrick once again, and has proven that he can hang with this crew when on top of his game.  Must respect.

8

Lacys Friskie Gal

Has defeated #7 both times they have hooked up recently, including in a 2nd place finish last time after coming first over against the eventual winner.  Lots to like here.

9

Big Man Clyde

Overmatched in that last try, and now lands on the far outside against a couple of the same rivals.  Hard to see things getting much better here.  I’ll pass for now.

Race 9                     Selections                                1-5-3-6                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Emery Vern

We haven’t seen him in almost 2 months now, but keep in mind this guy went a BIG mile out in Cali earlier this year, peeling off a 52.4 win.  Not sure if he is ready to fire his best effort, but the price will be right!

2

Capital Baby

Finished far back in 2nd last time, and now steps up to take on even tougher company.  Can’t endorse her against these.

3

Cams Sahbra

Substantial drop down for barn that has started to click a bit over the last week or so.  Price should be right here as well, sporting a 5 for 9 resume on the season.  I will toss her on the ticket at a big number.

4

McBlack

Not much luck at this level last time, and would still need to find a lot more in the tank to contend for any of the major awards.

5

EJ’s Pocket Rocket

Burned money here last week as the 3-5 fav at this level, only to end up a fairly flat 3rd.  Lands in a mid-pack post once again, but I’m not willing to accept a short price on him here.

6

Twotwenty power

Decent effort to finish up 2nd behind the heavy fav last time, but keep in mind she is 0 for 24 over the last couple of seasons.  I could see her competing for the minor awards once again.  Your call.

7

Feelin Rosie

OH invader has been racing evenly recently, but would still need to find a bit more pop on the end of her miles to go with the top ones in here.  I’ll watch one first.

8

Ohnoyou didn’t

Racing evenly against similar company recently since arriving in town, but not sure things are going to get any easier from way out in post 8 tonight.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

9

Bluebird Tizzy

Takes a drop down tonight at a level where she should be more competitive, but will likely be coming from FAR back after landing way out here.  Not sure I like how things set up for her.  Barker opted here over #10.

10

Realiscape

A couple of brutal trips since arriving locally for the OH connections, and has his work cut out once again from way out here.  Bolon will have to find a way to work him into the race.  I’ll watch one.  Barker opted to #9.

Race 10                   Selections                                9-2-1-8                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Friskie Six

OH invader has been holding her own against stakes company up there recently, and lands on the pole in her local debut.  Should improve with the stretchout to the mile oval.  Must respect.

2

Magnifique

Came up just short as the fav when trying to go down the road in her local debut, and appears to have landed in against a crew where she will be a logical contender once again.  Maybe.

3

Sharp Dressed Guy

Yet to miss the board in 5 LT starts, using a late burst to finish up a distant 2nd behind #9 in his last local try.  Lands in against some fairly tough rivals here, would have to improve even more.

4

Rokingcastle

Not sure the 2yo packs the speed to hang with the top ones in here.  Pass.

5

Mighty Unstoppable

Never a threat in his career debut, and hooks what is likely an even tougher group here.  Not tonight.

6

Cicely Hanover

A nice even trip after riding the cones last time off the layoff, and appears to have hooked another solid group here.  Should continue to improve, but I’m not ready to hop on board just yet.  Tetrick opted to #9 instead.

7

Baby Bones

Doesn’t appear to have the talent to hang with the top ones yet.  Pass.

8

Crusoe Hanover

PA invader had likely been facing far tougher company to begin his career at The Meadows, and should find this to be a bit easier.  Still would have to improve a bit to contend for any major awards.

9

Fanticipation

Couldn’t have possibly looked any better in her career debut here last time, after drawing clear to an easy victory down the lane.  Lands outside tonight, but appears to be the one to beat once again.

10

Dusty Dunes

No threat against similar company last time, and not sure things are going to work out any better after landing on the far outside here.  Pass.

Race 11                   Selections                                2-8-3-1-7                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Paper Luck

Grinded by his rivals last week to pull off the 13-1 upset in deep stretch.  Lands on the inside here, in what appears to be a bit tougher group.  Maybe underneath.

2

Casino Ace

A solid 2nd in his local debut last time, as he ended up finishing behind a razor sharp horse right now.  Likely to be blasting out early once again.  Catch him if you can.

3

Mcardles Star

No threat against conditioned company last time, but lands back in for a claiming tag tonight at a level where he should have some success.  Still needs his very best.

4

Blueridge Hall

Never got involved vs. similar company here on Thursday, and appears to be a notch or two below the favs in here right now as well.  I’ll pass.

5

Imadragon

A couple of even efforts at this level since arriving locally, and I must say that I haven’t been overly impressed with either start.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

6

Shesgotwht everitis

Completely came to a stop here on Thursday after blazing through the opening half mile.  Would take a complete turnaround to hang around late.

7

Western Tower

We haven’t seen him in quite some time, and the local Q’fer wasn’t anything overly special.  Barn is starting to heat up a bit, but I’ll have to watch this guy race once first.

8

Fun Time

Looked like a different horse last time, as he really surged past his rivals late en route to an easy victory.  Aiming for his 3rd consecutive win here, his best puts him in play once again.  Smith opted here over #9.

9

Lismaraslady

Used hard up close to the quick early pace here on Thursday, and unfortunately lands on the outside of a competitive crew again here.  Not sure I like how things set up for him against these.  Smith opted to #8 instead.

10

Tricky Grin

Tried to go right down the road here on Thursday, only to tire a bit on the end of it en route to a 5th place finish.  Not many options from way out here once again, likely blasting early.
