Red Mile Nightly Selections

Sunday, August 17

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                                 Selections                                                7-1-2-4

1

Cedar Key

Indy invader makes her 1st career start tonight after only 1 try in the AM at Hoosier.  Looks to be in a fairly manageable spot here outside of #7, any further improvement should put her in play in behind the fav.

2

Bewitching Beauty

Well beaten in a couple of local tries on the KY Fair Circuit, but is likely to attract some tote attention tonight with one of the nation’s leading drivers, Ronnie Wrenn Jr, hopping on board.  Will need to pick things up a bit.

3

Wildcat Spirit

Finished far back in each of her AM tries, not sure she is ready to go with these just yet.  Pass.

4

What About Love

Made a break after getting caught up in a quick Q’fer last time, prior efforts were ‘ok.’  One of several in play for minor awards.

5

B Upwind

Haven’t seen anything to get overly excited about to this point in the AM, and will need to pick things up quite a bit to contend for the major awards tonight.

6

Godiva Ivy

Tough to gage coming in from Indy Fair Circuit, but appears to have some stamina issues on the smaller ovals and not sure stretching out to the mile track will help that too much.  Pass.

7

Maggies Bed

Appears to pack a LOT more speed than her rivals at this point, with the only concern being her ability to make breaks from time to time in her brief career.  IF she trots, she should win easily.

Race 2                                 Selections                                                1-5-3-7

1

Doc’s Shadow

I wouldn’t be too hard on him for that last try, getting caught in the back and trying to close into a 55.3 back half in his 1st career start.  Appears to be much more manageable crew here, should sit close.  I’m willing to hop on board.

2

Calvados Hall

Major stamina issues to this point, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass.

3

Salsa Star

Tired badly in KYSS action last week, but takes a major plunge in class to a level where she should have some success.  Maybe.

4

Hoosier Frankee

Lone 2yo takes on older rivals tonight for the first time, and hasn’t proven that he packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  Pass.

5

Kiddie Cam

Appeared to be a touch better in that last try at Hoosier since adding Lasix, but keep in mind we are probably staring at a short price on a horse that is 0 for 20 LT.  Not sure I like the sound of that.

6

A Red River Runner

Hasn’t had anything to offer in the late stages here in 2 local tries, would need to find a LOT more still.  Pass.

7

Wicked One

Finished far back against stakes company here last week in her first try after a long layoff, but should continue to improve here in only her 4th career start against a much easier group.  I’ll try her underneath.

Race 3                                 Selections                                                2-1-7-6

1

Domino Volo

Well-bred son of Donato was an $80k yearling last fall, and appears to be slowly coming along thus far on the east coast in his AM tries.  Probably not ready for #2 just yet, but any improvement should make him 2nd best in my opinion.

2

Shawnee Valley

First time starter looks primed and poised for his career debut tonight, after a blowout win last time in a local AM work.  Anything even close to that should be plenty enough to handle this crew.  Put a circle around him.

3

Improper Invasion

Well beaten on the Indy Fair Circuit recently, looks a notch or two below the top ones in here at this point.  Pass.

4

Lobo Louie

Louie has been ‘ok’ to this point in limited appearances at Hoosier, and looks to be one of many with a chance in here at the minor awards in behind the 2 favs.

5

Forbidden Forest

Not overly impressive to this point in the AM, and appears to be asking a bit much to go with these at this point.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

6

Wildintention As

First time starter appears overmatched against the 2 favs, looks to be in play for the minor awards only.

7

Glock Nine Justice

Adds Lasix tonight and we will see if that enables him to hang around for a piece of it late.  Yet another that I could only consider for the minor awards tonight.

Race 4                                 Selections                                                4-1-6-3

1

Major Bet

Hooked up with a tough group here last week, but was RAZOR sharp at this level in the start prior.  No question he is the one to beat if he fires back with anything similar to that effort here.  Page opted here over #3.

2

Copper Cat

Came up empty off a smooth journey here at this level last week, would have to figure out a way to turn things around very quickly to contend for the major awards tonight.

3

Scoot Diablo

Dominated the $5k group the last couple of weeks, and deserves to step up to take on a better group here.  No question he is in good form, but going to need his very best punch on the step up.  Your call.  Page opted to #1 instead.

4

Lumiere

Couldn’t have possibly raced any better here last Sunday, blasting out from post 10, and skimming the cones late en route to an easy victory.  Transitions back over to the claiming ranks here, but I’m willing to give him a try.

5

Real Joke

Far cry from the ‘real joke’ we remember from years ago at The Big M, but I must admit that he had a bit of pop on the end of his mile here last week at this level.  Should sit close in short field, looking to pounce late once again.  Maybe.

6

Flashy

Fired back with a much better effort last time at Hoosier, coming up just over a length short of pulling off the 44-1 upset.  Is that a sign of her heading in the right direction?  I think so.

Race 5                                 Selections                                                7-2-5-4

1

Wheels

Took a shot out of there against similar company here last week, but was no match late.  Probably asking a bit much for him to go with this bunch as well.  I’ll wait for a better spot.  Noble opted to #7 instead.

2

Rever Ever

Got bottled up last week, but trust me when I tell you he did have PLENTY on the end of it when he finally shook loose.  Any smoother journey should put him very close.

3

Moontan

Note the barn change tonight for this Cleveland invader, who arrives in off a break in his most recent try at Northfield.  Likely going to get a good journey following #3 up, but will have to pick things up still.  Your call.  Noble opted to #7.

4

Silverhill Volo

Rare to think a NW2 could go with Preferred company but this guy packs the pedigree and speed, a $120k yearling purchase back in 2012.  He fits with these.

5

Sharp Edge

I wasn’t too high on him last time, and I must admit that he came up very sharp, coming up only a head short of the heavy fav.  Any similar effort should put him very close once again.

6

Fox Valley Sienna

Lone mare appears to be facing a tough assignment here in her local debut. Not tonight.

7

Chinese Cuisine

Made the lead on a very tiring track here last Sunday, and still hung in well for a close 3rd.  I am willing to forgive that effort, and jump back on board at what should be an even better price here.  Noble opted here over #’s 1 & 3.

Race 6                                 Selections                                                4-3-10                                 $5,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 Starts Here        See Ticket at the End

1

ABC Marla

A winner against similar company last time at Springfield, and lands on the pole for her local debut.  Should be able to sit close, any similar effort puts her in play to kickoff the Pick 4.

2

Morgan Glide

Appears overmatched against this crew for now.  Pass.

3

Shawnee Gold

Finished up a solid 2nd here last week, and the filly that beat her came back out to race very well here on Thursday.  Appears to be a softer field tonight, still needs her very best punch.

4

Berto Adalina

Came from far back here on Thursday to finish 3rd, and should be sitting much closer early after landing in a mid-pack post here.  I look for a more aggressive steer, tonight may be the night.

5

Hey Pancho

Lost all chance after making a break against stakes company last week, but lands into a level where he should have a lot more success here.  We might see some improvement with 2nd time Lasix as well.  Your call.

6

Vicalicious

Hasn’t had much to offer thus far in her brief career, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

7

That a Boy Ranger

Hasn’t shown much stamina in recent Indy efforts, and coming into tonight off a ‘scratched sick’ as well.  Not sure I like the sound of that.

8

Nordic Blitz

Flashed a bit of improvement here on Thursday, but still needs to pick things up to hang with the top ones.

9

Foxy Polar

Hasn’t proven she can hang with these just yet.  Pass.

10

Infiniti As

Lone 2yo faces a tough assignment from outside post against older rivals, but finished up with a solid even effort here in his first LT start adding trotting hobbles.  Should be picking up the pieces late once again.

Race 7                                 Selections                                                1-5-3-2

1

Meadow Brook Deana

Followed cover en route to an even 4th place finish here last week, but lands in what appears to be a much softer group on paper tonight.  Lands on the pole as well.  Must respect.

2

Sir Barton

No match for stakes company here last week, but lands in a much more manageable crew here.  Should be in line for a nice trip after drawing inside, I will toss him on the ticket for some value underneath.

3

Stevia Hanover

Tried the lead on a track that was very tiring here last week, eventually holding on for a 2nd place finish behind #9.  I wouldn’t hold that against her, I look for some improvement here.  Maybe.

4

Acton OE

Finished far back in local Q’fer, would have to find a LOT more to hang with these.  Pass.

5

Taylor Finn

A nice even effort here in her first local try, and appears to have landed in a softer group tonight.  Anything close to that effort should put her squarely in the mix against these.

6

Fox Valley Rebel

Appears to be improving with each try, and we should see more of the same here.  I could consider him for the minor awards.

7

BurningO.

Stamina has been a major concern recently, and I don’t see things getting any better here.  Pass.

8

TheHitLdy

Should continue to improve in her 2nd try back off a LONG layoff, but still appears overmatched for now.

9

Ponda Watts

Parlayed a perfect trip into the victory here last week, and will likely be looking to pounce late once again.  Won’t be easy from way out here, needs her very best.

10

Blue Spanx

No threat against tougher company last time, and faces what appears to be another tough assignment after getting slammed with post 10 against these.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

Race 8                                 Selections                                                1-7-4-5

1

Pleasant Rio

Not much of a threat in either local try to this point, but hooks what appears to be a much easier group tonight and lands on the pole.  Should be involved much earlier.  Live longshot?  I think so.

2

Milano Grande

A couple of even 3rd place finishes against similar company to begin her local campaign, and I could probably consider her for the minor awards once again.  Tetrick opted here over #9.

3

Watts of Power

Didn’t have much to offer in his only local try after saving ground throughout, not sure I am ready to hop on board yet after watching that try.  Needs more.  Noble opted to #10 instead.

4

Super Dream

Doesn’t appear to pack a lot of early speed, but should really enjoy the class relief and stretch out to the mile oval tonight.  I would expect him to be on the move late.  Maybe.  Noble opted to #10 instead.

5

McBlack

A couple of close finishes to begin his local campaign at this level, and might end up with a perfect journey in here following up #4.  Look for him to be charging late once again.

6

Family Spirit

Tired here in his first start back off a decent layoff, and would still likely need to find a bit more stamina to hang with the top ones in here.  I’ll pass for now.  Noble opted to #10 instead.

7

Ex Dream

Cleveland invader has been racing evenly against some decent company at Northfield recently, and is another that may like the stretch out to the big track tonight.  I could make a case for him.  Noble opted to #10 instead.

8

Joe’s Miss Daisy

Not much to offer against similar company last time, and will likely have to do it from far back tonight.  Not ready to hop on board just yet.  Noble opted to #10 instead.

9

Goldstar Patriot D

Local Q’fer was solid, but still needs to prove he packs enough speed to hang with the top ones in here.  I’ll watch one first.  Tetrick opted to #2 instead.

10

Fsolatdo Bluegrass

Barn has been on a roll here of late, and this mare will likely be looking to pick up the pieces late once again.  Will have to find a way to work into the race from way out here.  Your call.  Noble opted here over #’s 3, 4, 6, 7, & 8.

Race 9                                 Selections                                                10-2-6-1

1

Just Fred

Columbus invader finally gets some post and class relief tonight for his local debut, and is one of several with a shot here in wide open crew.  Maybe.

2

Springhouse Rebel

Tough trip here last time, caught 3-wide for a bit up the backstretch and eventually tiring down the lane.  Likely going to be positioned up close after drawing inside, and has proven he can go with this kind.  Shehan opted here over #5.

3

Blueridge Orion

Bluegrass efforts would be enough to consider him against these, but hasn’t shown up with anywhere near his best punch since arriving locally.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

4

Preemptive Bid

Finished even against a much tougher group last time at Hoosier, and drops in locally to what appears to be a much more manageable group.  Any further improvement puts him in the mix.

5

Myartblongs ToDaddy

Well beaten at Scioto recently, and still has a lot to prove here in her local debut.  Not sure I’m ready to hop on board just yet.  Shehan opted to #2 instead.

6

FiftyTwo Flat

Tried to go down the road here last time as the big fav, only to be mowed down in deep stretch in a 3rd place finish.  Never been a big fan of his, likely going to be a short price once again.  I’ll look for value elsewhere.

7

JJ’s Key West

Decent at Hoosier recently, but arrives into tonight off a scratched ‘sick’ line and facing a fairly solid group.  I’ll watch one first.

8

Kesons Avaia

Hasn’t found a level where she fits locally just yet, and takes another drop down tonight.  Picks up the services of Wrenn, but still going to need to pick things up quite a bit.

9

Doc’s Suzie

A couple of solid starts to begin her local campaign, but steps up tonight to face some seasoned rivals.  Likely going to utilize that early speed from way out here.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.

10

Lifetime Mattjic

Racing evenly against better company at Hoosier recently, and will likely provide a lot of value especially from way out here.  I’m willing to take a flier at what should be a big number.

Race 10                              Selections                                                4-5-1-2

1

Shady Town

OH invader has been holding his own against similar company at Northfield recently, and should be able to work out a smooth journey after landing on the inside here in short field.  Should be close.  Noble opted to #5 instead.

2

Cladslast impression

Nothing to offer against much better crew here last time, and drops down into a level where he should have some more success tonight.  Still going to need his very best though.  Noble opted to #5 instead.

3

Island Questor

No luck here last time, and would take a lot more still to hang with the top ones in this group.  Not tonight.

4

Omaha Survivor

No threat against tougher group here last week, but takes a drop down tonight into a level where he has proven he can have some success.  Anything close to his best effort puts him in the mix.

5

Touch and Go

Dominated a weaker crew here last week, and steps up to take on a much better field here tonight.  No question he fits with these, but will be put to the test a bit more.  Maybe.  Noble opted here over #’s 1 & 2.

6

Ellie’s Best Dream

Rallied from far back for a solid 2nd here last week, but appears to have hooked another tough group.  Likely looking to pick up some of the pieces late once again.  Your call.

Race 11                              Selections                                                5-3-4-6

1

Best of the Best

Rallied from far back here against similar company last time to be 3rd, and will obviously be sitting much closer early tonight after landing on the pole in short field.  Should be flying late once again.

2

Kiss Me Callie

Hasn’t proven much in 2 local tries, hard to jump on board after watching those.  Pass.  Tetrick opted to #5 instead.

3

Deo Gloria

Exploded past her rivals down the lane here last week en route to the 10-1 upset.  Steps back up in class here, but she can certainly go with this crew.  Maybe.

4

Ella V Horse

Didn’t give her much credit here last time, but I thought she raced very well after getting the overland route from far outside.  Not an easy crew here, but any smoother journey likely puts her in play.

5

Classie Thinker

Unleashed a vicious rally down the lane en route to an easy victory against similar crew here last time.  Should be able to pounce late after landing in short field here.  Must respect.  Tetrick opted here over #2.

6

Nutmegs Yankee

Had nothing to offer after going against the bias here last week, but I feel like we can excuse that effort.  Prior starts at Indy would put her in play.

Race 12                              Selections                                                9-6-4-1

1

Reckoning Day

Has been racing well of late under the radar, and now takes a drop down which should help matters even more.  Lands on the pole here in competitive crew, needs his very best.

2

S.F. Moses

Absolutely stomped lesser rivals here last week, and has really rounded the corner over her last couple of tries.  Any further improvement should put her squarely in the mix once again.

3

Excellence in Arts

Finished far behind #6 in his only local try, and would have to find a lot more pop on the end of it to hang around late.  Not sure I’m ready to hop on board just yet.  Noble opted here over #9.

4

SoMuch Cooler On

Tough trip here last time, but still held on for a decent 4th place finish late.  Any smoother journey should put him in play against this crew, price should be right as well.  Maybe.

5

OhNo you didn’t

Looks to be a notch or two below the top ones in here.  Pass.

6

Leaf Nation

Lost all chance with impossible trip here last time, but was vicious in an easy 7 length romp in the start prior.  Drops back down where he appears to have a big shot.  He fits with these.

7

Powerful Odds

Pulled off a big upset in a LT best here last year, but arrives into tonight off suspect form recently in OH.  Probably asking a bit much right now, I’ll watch one first.

8

Skyway Titan

Raced much better than I anticipated last week after getting away far back, rallying up to be 2nd behind the heavy fav.  Likely going to be picking up the pieces late once again.

9

Putnams Storm

Canadian invader debuts for barn that has had some success here already, and appears to have landed in a fairly manageable group tonight.  I’m on board.  Noble opted to #3 instead.

10

Ohmybelle

Not sure what happened last time, but we obviously know this mare is much better than that.  Not done any favors once again after landing on the outside, will have to find a way to work into the race.  Your call.

Race 13                              Selections                                                1-4-6-3

1

Concert Ticket

Barn was on a roll here last Sunday, would’ve been 4 wins on the night if this guy could’ve held off #6 late.  Still a much improved effort against the track bias, might get left alone on the lead here in short field.  Big shot.  Noble chose over #3.

2

Rock of Luck

Never got involved in big field last week after landing on the outside, but draws in much closer against shorter field here.  Should continue to improve in his 3rd start back off short layoff, still needs his very best against these.

3

Hotunder thecollar

Has proven he packs some major league speed in OH recently, but still seems like a bit of a stretch for a conditioned claimer to hang with the top ones in here.  I could only consider him for the minor awards.  Noble opted to #1 instead.

4

Big Game Hunter

Indy invader has been racing evenly against tough overnight rivals at Hoosier, and lands in what is likely a similar group here.  No question he fits with these.  Maybe.

5

What’sitto youtwo

Aggressively handled in that last try, but came up empty down the lane.  Had been razor sharp in Paducah prior, will have to prove he can hang with these still.

6

Camgrandest

Threaded out very late last time, and sprinted home the final 1/8 to nail #1 a couple of steps before the finish.  Outside post shouldn’t bother him, does his best work late regardless.  Can he make it 3 in a row?

Race 14                              Selections                                                1-6-4-2

1

Kevlar Hanover

Cleveland invader takes a bit of a step up for his local debut, but appears to have hooked a manageable crew for this level locally.  Has early speed, lands on the pole.  Should be up close to the action.  Big shot.

2

Round About Fame

Yet to hit the board in 6 starts this season, but should enjoy the class relief here tonight.  Plenty of back class here with over $294k in the bank, going to need his best shot.

3

Winsmith Brianna

Transitions over to the claiming ranks here, but stamina has been a major concern to this point.  Hard to jump on board right now.  Pass.  Page opted to #8 instead.

4

High Stakes Game

Holding his own recently at this level at Scioto, taking a LT mark only 3 starts back on 7-15.  Anything close to that effort would put him squarely in the mix.

5

Student Royalty

Dropped down to score in his local debut against a softer crew, and steps back up to the $5k ranks tonight.  He is in good form right now, taking a LT mark last time out.  Maybe.  Noble opted here over #’s 6 & 7.

6

Hanks Kid

Tough to gage this guy right now, he was supposed to take a drop into the $4k ranks at Northfield before coming up ‘sick.’  Lands in for a $5k tag tonight for a barn that has been on a roll.  His best effort puts him in play.

7

Western Mark

Ultra consistent 8yo has hit the board in 13 of 28 on the season, but steps up a couple of notches here for his local debut.  Might be asking a bit much for him to hang with the top ones in here.  Noble opted to #5 instead.

8

Barbra Carol Lynn

Finished far back in her most recent efforts, appears overmatched for now.  Pass.  Page opted here over #3.

9

Armbro Domi

Domi has booked a remarkable 43 career wins in earning over $305k, but he hasn’t been able to flash that same type of speed here in his ’14 campaign just yet.  Lands on the outside for local debut, won’t be easy.

10

Presidential Sam

A couple of even efforts here recently, and now is slammed with outside post in competitive group.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

Race 15                              Selections                                                1-5-10-8-2                                                                        20-Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Kilo Dream

Had a little traffic trouble last week down the lane, combine that with a plunge into our bottom level and I am willing to hop on board.  T. Smith opted here over #7.

2

Luminous Lombo

Has been ‘ok’ recently at Northfield, with stamina being the main concern.  Not sure stretching out to the mile oval tonight will help that any.  Your call.  Noble opted here over #6.

3

Clooney

I have tried him in those last couple of starts, where he has been tiring badly on the end.  Takes another plunge down tonight, but still needs to find a LOT more stamina to hang around late.

4

Big Bear Bow

Faded badly down the lane here on Thursday, comes right back off short rest and drops down even further tonight.  Needs a big rebound.

5

R Master Scott

I was all over this guy last time, and not quite sure what happened as he stopped badly at the head of the lane.  That makes 2 in a row now from him where we have seen that, not sure what to expect here.  Wrenn chose over #9.

6

Topville Diamond

Impossible trip here last time, but we’ve still yet to see him fire with one of his better efforts recently.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  Noble opted to #2 instead.

7

Lookabout

Decent finish here on Thursday, but appears to have hooked a much tougher group tonight.  Not ready to jump on board against these.  T. Smith opted to #1 instead.

8

Mor Than Enuf Russ

Rallied from far back here last week to pick up 2nd at better than 50-1, and I would assume he will be looking to pick up the pieces late once again.  Needs a quick early pace to chase.

9

Fish Tales

Appears overmatched against these right now.  Pass.  Wrenn opted to #5 instead.

10

Camp Counselor

Barn was on an absolute roll here on Thursday, winning 3 races.  We haven’t seen this guy in over 2 months, but the Q’fer was solid.  Probably going to need a start before we get his best shot though.
