Red Mile Race Reviews
Saturday, September 8th
Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt
Race 1 Selections 6-7-4-2
1
Gray Single Falls
Yet to hit the board in 12
starts this year, things aren’t going to get any easier here. Pass.
2
Copper Cat
Came up short as the heavy
fav last time, and lands back in what appears to be a solid crew
tonight. I don’t think it’s time to
let the cat out of the bag just yet.
3
Smoke Rings
Got smoked at Balmoral last
time, but did peel off a win here last month.
BIG step up here though. Not
tonight.
4
Sax Solo
I was on board last time,
and he got nailed in the final strides after an aggressive try. Can’t fault him for that, but this is no
easy spot tonight with a couple of solid rivals on the outside. Maybe.
5
Blueridge Tebow
Looks like Tebow is in over
his head here. Pass.
6
Country Strong
Weakened down the lane last
time after blazing through some quick fractions to finish 4th. Has been solid here all season though, his
best effort puts him right in the mix.
7
Springhouse Rebel
Followed the eventual winner
up last time to finish up a nice 2nd behind him. He looks great on paper, but I’ve yet to
see him show the killer instinct and go by his rivals down the lane. I’ll try him for 2nd again.
Race 2 Selections 4-7-3-2
1
Rocknroll Herman
Didn’t have much to offer
after getting caught up in a big mile last time, but annihilated a soft crew
in the prior start. Will Herman be
ready to rock and roll tonight? We’ll
see.
2
E R Prince Charmin
Used hard before tiring in
the last, but has held his own against similar company here this season. Any smoother journey should put him
close.
3
Noah C
Had a couple of decent
efforts here earlier this season, and if Noah is at his best he can go with
these. Should be a nice price as
well. I’ll toss him on the
ticket.
4
Paddy Malone
A couple of very nice 3rd
place finishes to kick off his local campaign, and he appears to have landed
in an even more comfortable spot here.
Perfect mid-pack post. I like
him a lot in here!
5
Lock Out
Takes a step up in class
tonight after an even effort last time, and lands in what appears to be a
fairly wide open crew. Your call.
6
Last Second Shot
I’ve tried him time and time
again since the meet started only to be disappointed each time. I DO think he has the ability, but the shot
clock has expired for me….
7
Hillcrest Domingo
Grey gelding has a big late
kick if things set up for him, and he may be in line for a nice cover trip
here from post 7. Look for a white
streak late.
Race 3 Selections 3-7-6-10
1
Sunset Magic
Has been facing some tough
older rivals in PA overnights recently, but has yet to have much success here
in her sophomore campaign. I’ll wait
until we see some improvement. Loney
opted to #7 instead.
2
Shawnee wind
Overmatched in the $15k KYSS
last time, and has hooked an extremely tough group for this level
tonight. Not sure I can endorse him
against these.
3
Quarantine
Romped against a lesser crew
last time, but she may be under a bit more pressure to get the job done in
here. She’s been known to make a break
or two….Might want to take a ticket or two with her out as well.
4
VR’s Space shuttle
Followed the eventual winner
last time, but was outsprinted down the lane.
Appears to be an even better group tonight. I’ll pass for now.
5
Sterling Volo
Scored an easy win over the
track last Sunday, and keep in mind the track was extremely sloppy so pay no
attention to the slower time. She can
go with anything in here on her best day.
6
Patty Says So
Patty is taking a drop in
class, but she has unfortunately hooked another tough group here. She continues to improve, but will need her
very best.
7
Rock With It
Regressed into a break at
the start last time, but I suppose we can give him an excuse given the fact
the track was a mess. Start prior was
ultra impressive. I could make a case
here. Loney opted here over #1.
8
Creatine
Lone 2yo in the field is
undefeated in 2 LT starts, but moves up to take on some tough older rivals
here and lands in post 8 as well.
Might be asking a little much to go with these so soon.
9
Rome
Has had a lot of success
here in the past, but the last start here was horrendous. Hard to endorse after that.
10
Frozen Assets
Ended up surging by #6 down
the lane last time to take 2nd, but he wasn’t as good that night
as I expected. Lands in post 10
tonight as well. Will likely be
sitting last early. Not a great scenario.
OVER $2 MILLION IN PURSES
TOMORROW NIGHT!
Race 4 Selections 1-4-8-7
1
Whersme luckycharms
Drops in for a claiming tag
for the first time in quite some time, and appears to have landed in a crew
where he should have some success.
Moves to the pole after two 9 holes in a row. All positive signs.
2
Singlemalt whiskey
Finished far behind in his
last couple. Pass.
3
Scenic Bay
Hasn’t had much success here
yet, hard to see things changing in here.
4
Our Little Pilgrim
Veteran campaigner has held
his own at this level locally, and appears to have a big shot tonight as
well. Think you log a lot of
miles? This 11yo is making his 324th
start tonight!!!
5
Broadway Fame
Got off to a nice start
earlier in the meet, but he hasn’t been anywhere close in his last few. I’ll have to wait until I see some
improvement.
6
Miss Bikini Beach
OH invader has only a 57 LT
mark, so it would take a LT best performance in all likelihood to win
this. Maybe a bit tough for her.
7
Mor Storms Coming
Hasn’t had any luck here
recently, but lands in what may end up being a bit of a softer crew than he
has faced recently. May be able to
pick up some of the pieces late.
8
Bobo Mcgee
Another OH invader here, and
this guy is taking a fairly significant drop into a $2.5k claimer for one of
our live barns. Picks up the services
of Bolon as well. All positive
indicators.
Race 5 Selections 4-5-7-6
1
Sand Allistar
Taking a BIG step up tonight
and faces some tough rivals on the outside.
Not tonight.
2
Sister Gola
Facing some tough company on
the outside, I’ll wait for a better spot.
3
Miss DW Chip
Used hard early last time,
and that took its toll late. Not sure
she is ready to hang with the favs.
4
Don Giovanni
Debuted here almost a month
ago off an extended break and trotted to an impressive victory. I don’t think there is any question that he
is the one to beat.
5
Red Rocks
Another that had a nice
local debut, but regressed into a break last time when back in NY. If he was as good as he was here a few
weeks ago, he could make some noise in here.
6
Blueridge Legacy
Yet to prove he can beat
these types, but he always shows up with a good effort to hit the
ticket. I’ll use him underneath once
again.
7
D’orsay
3yo filly lands on the
outside of some tough older rivals here, but she packs enough speed to go
with these if she minds her manners.
Overcame an extremely tough trip last time. Maybe a more conservative steer here?
Race 6 Selections 4-9-5-1 Pick 4 Starts Here See Ticket at the End
1
Show Me Some Skin
Turned in a much better
performance last time to finish 3rd on the off track, and appears
to be one of many with a shot at the minor awards in here.
2
B Good Lexi
Got set up perfectly last time after sitting in the
back through a quick opening half, but failed to close a ton of ground and
ended up an ‘ok’ 5th. Will
have to pick it up a lot more to have a shot at the major awards.
3
GD Rosanne
Rosanne has yet to hit the
board in 14 tries. Don’t see her
reversing the curse just yet.
4
Kentucky All Star
No match for stakes company
in her last couple of starts, but takes an extreme plunge down to the
conditioned claiming ranks tonight. No
better recipe for a wakeup call. It’s
now or never!
5
Billtown Road
Got off to a great start
here earlier this season, but has regressed into a couple of breaks
since. One of several that appear to
have a shot behind the fav.
6
It’s True
Lone 2yo doesn’t appear to
pack the speed for these just yet.
I’ll pass for now.
7
Dollar and a Dream
Has had some severe stamina
issues recently, I’ll watch for more.
8
Jazzie Music
Got off to a nice start here
this season, but fired a blank on the off track last Sunday. Not quite sure what to expect here, but she
has hit the board in half of her LT starts.
Your call.
9
Goodtimin Cam
Raced evenly on the off
track, but the 2 starts prior since adding lasix were both very good. I think this guy may be rounding the corner
and heading in the right direction.
Should provide value as well.
OVER $2 MILLION IN PURSES
TOMORROW NIGHT!
Race 7 Selections 4-3-1-2
1
Tickle Me Grace
Has been decent at this
level locally, and should sit very close to the lead from the pole. One of several that should be in the
mix.
2
Maxaman
Finished up a fast closing 2nd
behind a heavy fav on Sunday, and has put in a couple of clean starts
recently and may have put his breaking problems behind him. He can go with these on his best day.
3
Economic Change
I must admit that I wasn’t a
huge fan of hers at Buffalo
this season, but a geographical change may be just what Economic Change
needed. Should improve with the
stretch out to the big oval.
4
Klassic Kanidate
Has held his own against
some fairly good trotters here this season, hitting the board in 9 of
12. If something happened to the fav
(#9) this may be a perfect Kanidate for the win.
5
Marisela
If she was as good as she
was here earlier this season she could definitely go with these, but she has
regressed into a couple of breaks recently.
Not quite sure what to expect here.
6
Ranggo Kid
Has trotted evenly against similar
company here this season, but has yet to show any kind of major speed. Might pick off some of the tired ones late
though.
7
Whats the Plot
She wasn’t involved in the
plot of that last event whatsoever, and don’t see her joining the party here
as well.
8
Cooperize
No luck recently in IL, and
things aren’t going to get any easier here.
9
Déjà Vu Too
Lone 2yo gets slammed with
post 9. No question she appears much
faster than these, but she has made breaks in 4 of 6 LT starts and is likely
to be a VERY short price. Worth the
risk? Not for me.
Race 8 Selections 9-1-2-3
1
Blue Diamonds
Picked up a couple of checks
against tough foes in $15k KYSS, and apparently may have just missed the cut
into tomorrow night’s $250k final. Not
an easy crew here, but she can trot with these.
2
Cowling Park
Benefitted from several
breakers in that last start, but still trotted fairly well to a decent 4th
place finish. Should continue to
improve in his 2nd local start, and should sit close from inside post.
3
Georgie Mae
Tried to go down the road
last time, before tiring late to ultimately finish 3rd just ahead
of #2. Should continue to improve, but
still may be a notch below the favs right now.
4
Expressive Victor
Finished the KYSS with a
couple of checks and a similar resume as #1.
Lands in what should be more comfortable spot, but still going to have
to pick things up a bit more.
5
Stirling Bonzai
Didn’t have much to offer in
her first try in mid-level stake in NY.
Not sure if she is ready to go with these just yet.
6
Berto Lucky Star
Looks like a tough spot for
her first career start tonight, I’ll watch this one.
7
ABC Jet
Didn’t have much to offer
here in his only local try, but has shown some improvement in the last couple
in Indy. Still asking a bit much to
trot with these at this point in my opinion.
8
Ballet Slippers
Made breaks in both of her
LT starts, I’ll have to watch her go around once before hopping on
board.
9
Raven Victory
Debuted locally after a
couple of very dull Q’fers on the east coast, but he turned the lights on all
of a sudden and sprinted away from his rivals to an easy victory. Should continue to improve.
Race 9 Selections 4-5-6-2
1
Kinda Flighty
Made a break at the start
last time, and lands in what is probably the easiest field she has seen since
arriving locally. Should sit close
from the pole. Maybe.
2
Blissfull Knight
Saved all the ground last
time to finish 3rd at a BIG price.
Appears to be one of many with a shot in what appears to be a WIDE
open crew.
3
Ndana Favorite
I gave him a try last time,
and he tired badly down the lane when he came under encouragement. Not sure I am ready to jump back on board
after seeing that, but he should continue to improve in his 3rd
start back on the year.
4
Presidential Sam
This guy was hopelessly
pinned in and desperately looking for racing room in that last start. It was MUCH better than it appears on
paper. Might be poised to pull off the
upset with a smoother journey.
5
Radical Cam
Another that was pinned in
last time we saw him, but he does raise some concern with the scratched
‘sick’ in between. Might be in line
for a conservative steer, but no question he has the ability.
6
Royal Meeting
Likely to be a short price
tonight, but let me point out that he has missed over 2 months of action
coming in and he didn’t fire that well in the 2 prior starts with his trainer
in the bike at Hoosier. I’ll look
elsewhere for value.
7
Trouble Lurking
12yo is 0 for 36 in the last
couple of years, and hasn’t shown a lot of stamina in his last several
tries. I think this looks like trouble
for him.
8
Awink andagrin
Raced well after an
aggressive steer last time to finish up a solid 2nd. Takes a slight step up to tougher company
here though, and would need to improve even more.
9
King’s Lightning
Unleashed a dazzling
performance in the AM here on Tuesday, and has proven that he can hold his
own with some decent horses locally. Has
his work cut out here from post 9, but he fits with these.
10
Here Kitty Kitty
Followed the eventual winner
last time and was able to hold on for a distant 2nd. Not sure things are going to work out that
perfectly from way out here though.
I’ll pass.
OVER $2 MILLION IN PURSES
TOMORROW NIGHT!
Race 10 Selections 5-2-3-1
1
Dutz’s Charm
Lone mare in the field takes
on the boys tonight after sprinting by her mare rivals in the last
couple. This one appears WIDE open on
paper. If she gets set up with a nice
trip again, it wouldn’t shock me.
2
Arringarosa
Arrives locally once again
to take on our top overnighters, and he has proven that he can go with
anything in here. Again, it’s WIDE
open. Demand value with whomever you
choose.
3
Real or Magic
Raced evenly behind the
runaway duo last week, and has raced well in this class each week since
arriving locally. Likely a short price
looming though, I’ll try and beat him with that in mind.
4
Title Shot
Ironically, I think he is
about the only one that doesn’t have a shot at the title in here. Looks like a tough spot.
5
Real Hanover
Narrowly defeated #3 for 3rd
last time, and finally draws into a field where he appears to have a shot at
the win. Needs his absolute very best
though.
6
Jate O’del
Steps up to take on Open
company tonight with his stablemate Jagger heading to Scioto
tonight to take on a field for $30k.
Back to back LT mark wins, but is he ready for these? Good question.
Race 11 Selections 9-7-2-5-6 10-CENT
SUPER HI FIVE
1
I Ota Win
Has raced evenly in his last
couple at this level, and he appears to have hooked another solid group
tonight. Should sit close from the
pole, but he is going to have to pick it up a bit to have any shot at the
major awards.
2
Minks Reiquest
Raced evenly against some
tough company in our top class, and drops down to what should be a much more
manageable spot here. Should be very
close with his best effort. Nisonger
opted here over #1.
3
Don’t Fight the Law
Parlayed a perfect trip into
a 2nd place finish in short field last time, and I’m not sure
things will work out that perfectly in larger contentious group here.
4
Money on Tap
Doesn’t appear to pack the
speed to go with the top ones in tough group here. I’ll wait for a better spot.
5
EJ’s Pocket Rocket
Raced evenly from way back
last time, but has yet to show the late kick this year that he has shown in
year’s past. Not an easy spot
here.
6
Unreal Appeal
Hopefully you have been on
the bandwagon here lately, because this mare has a win and a 2nd
at BIG odds in her last couple. Should
offer value once again, any similar effort puts her in the mix again as
well.
7
Crime Scene Cruzer
Class dropper typically
offers a nice late kick, and it appears that he will have plenty of pace to
chase in here and may be in line for a nice cover trip from post 7. Look for him on the scene late.
8
Out of my Hands
Gelding has wicked early
speed, but he is going to have to fend off a full field and some good closers
in this crew. It should certainly be
in his hands at the top of the lane, catch him if you can.
9
Ab’s Beach Boy
Finally looked like his old
self last time, and it was good to see him continue his streak here as he
seems to pick up at least one win each year.
No question he is facing tougher here, but if he’s good it won’t matter.
10
Powerful Odds
I can’t argue with the fact
you are likely to get some mighty powerful odds on this guy, but looks to
have landed in a tough crew in his local debut and slammed with post 10 as
well. Not tonight.
