Red Mile Race Reviews

Saturday, September 7th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                1-2-6

1

Paris Pike

Tired badly after setting a quick pace last time at Scioto over a sloppy track.  Lands on the pole in short field in what should be a much softer spot.  I can make a big case here.

2

Rock With It

A solid 2nd place finish on the off track in his seasonal debut last week, no reason to think he shouldn’t continue to improve here in his 2nd start back on the season.  Any further improvement puts him right in the mix.

3

Custom Tag

Not much success recently against similar company, and hooks a few tough rivals tonight as well.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

4

Rose Run Kermit

Gelding has a TON of early speed, but stamina continues to be the main concern.  Might be left alone on the lead here in short field, but would still have to pick things up quite a bit.

5

Tometta Byrd

Wasn’t overly impressed with the lone start she shows on a big track, I’ll watch her go around once locally before hopping on board.

6

Bristol

MI invader has held his own against some tough overnight rivals at Hazel, and should be able to stay within striking range tonight in the short field.  Still needs his very best.

Race 2                     Selections                                5-4-2

1

Lion of Judah

No luck in his only local try, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  Pass.

2

Bettor’s Jackpot

Dug in late for a hard fought victory last time, and he has been fairly consistent against similar company since arriving locally.  Anything similar puts him squarely in the mix.

3

Bee Gee

Finished up a solid 2nd behind #4 two starts back, but never got involved on the off track last time.  Should get a nice ground saving trip, and be looking to shake loose late.

4

Royal Ideal

Closed from an impossible spot last time to end up 3rd behind #5, but should benefit by sitting much closer tonight after landing in small field.  Should be flying late once again.

5

Ellie’s Best Dream

Loved her to pull off the upset last time, and she was able to get the job done.  I would expect Stiltner to blast out early once again.  Catch her if you can.

6

Our Flight

Rode the rail en route to an even 4th place finish behind #5 last time, but never really threatened for the major awards.  Your call.

Race 3                     Selections                                5-6-1

1

Sister Gola

Has been rounding the corner a bit over the last couple of starts, and should sit close once again after landing on the pole.  Should have a shot at the minor awards once again.

2

Imperial Spur

Appears to be a notch or two below the favs right now, I’ll wait for a better spot.

3

Ginger Tree Wanda

Tired after the tough trip last time, and still not convinced she is ready to hang with the top ones in here.  Not tonight.

4

Voodoo Victor

Taking a substantial drop tonight from stakes company back in against overnight rivals.  Plenty of options from perfect mid-pack post, should find the class relief to his liking.  Maybe.

5

Natural Forces

Gelding loves to win races, finding the winner’s circle 26 times in only 61 LT starts.  Should enjoy the stretch out to the mile oval, and I would assume he will attempt to launch a late attack once again.  Lots to like.

6

Rome

Back to back wins against similar company here for a gelding that has rounded back into form finally.  Anything similar puts him very close once again.

Race 4                     Selections                                1-2-5-7                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Mobil Big John

Parlayed a perfect trip into his 2nd consecutive victory last time, and now lands on the pole here in what appears to be a similar field.  Should sit close once again.

2

Bazinga

Not sure what happened last time, but he fired an absolute blank after a nice 2nd place finish in the week prior.  I suppose we can give him a pass with the sloppy track.  Should be in line for a nice journey.

3

Ombre Art

Has been a notch below his open rivals over the last few starts, but appears to have landed in what may be a bit easier spot here.  Still would need to pick things up a bit.  Your call.

4

Stand Tall

OH invader has been holding his own against tough overnight rivals at Scioto recently, and lands in what should be a similar crew tonight.  I’ll watch him go around once first.

5

Trev Adams Attack

Has shown a big late kick locally, and things should set up nicely for him tonight from perfect mid-pack post.  Short field, he will need a quick pace to chase.  Maybe.

6

Stone Appeal

A notch or two below the top ones in here still, I’ll pass for now.

7

It’s a Go

MI invader arrives locally in the midst of a solid campaign, where he has hit the board in 11 of 18.  Another that will be looking to put together a late rally, but will there be enough early speed to set him up?  I’m not sure.

Race 5                     Selections                                6-1-4

1

Deo Gloria

I was a big fan of hers last time, and she put in a solid effort to come up just short of pulling off the 14-1 upset.  Won’t be anywhere near that price here, but any similar effort puts her close once again.

2

Kiss and Saygoodby

Wasn’t overly impressed with the local Q’fer, I’ll watch one first.

3

Nocturnal Rose

Hasn’t had much success against similar rivals recently, but she should be aided a bit after landing in the short field.  Has proven she can get the job done in the past, defeating #6 back on 8-10.  Your call.

4

Tailor’s Filly

A nice even 3rd place finish behind #’s 1 & 6 last week on the off track.  I would expect a similar off the pace rally here, and I’ll toss her on the ticket once again.

5

Through My Eyes

Picture perfect journey following #6 up last time, but could only manage an even 4th place finish.  Not sure things are going to get any easier in here.

6

Sea Bug

Has been RAZOR sharp over the last couple for barn firing on all cylinders right now.  No reason to think she can’t make it 2 in a row.  I’m on board once again.

Race 6                     Selections                                5-9-1                                       Pick 4 Wagering                     See Ticket at the end

1

Ava Destruction

Tough to gage this filly arriving locally in from the IL fair circuit, but I will mention that it appears to be a fairly soft crew behind the favs.  Should enjoy the stretch out to the mile oval.  Maybe.

2

Full Color Camo

Finished far behind her rivals last time, but takes a drop into conditioned claiming company here.  Still not sure she is ready to go with the top ones in here just yet.

3

Rachael Renee

Scratched sick prior to making her career debut, I’ll watch one first.

4

Endeavors Moment

Note the barn change tonight, but didn’t see a lot to get excited about here in the Q’fer.  Pass.

5

I Be Da One

Exploded in deep stretch last week when she was asked, cutting into the margin of the eventual winner, #9.  Draws inside of her main rival here.  Any type of aggressive steer makes her the one to beat.

6

The Professor

Scratched sick from his first day of school this season, and not sure I am ready to hop on board just yet.  Pass.

7

B Good Lexi

Note the barn change tonight, but keep in mind this filly is 0 for 30 LT and yet to hit the board in 5 starts this season.  Would still need to pick things up quite a bit.

8

Mor For All

No threat against similar company recently.  Pass.

9

Ivy’s American

Drew clear for her 1st career victory last week, and any similar effort should put her right in the mix once again.

10

Orion’s Belt

Lone 2yo in the field lands on the far outside, and hasn’t shown much early speed.  Won’t be easy.

Race 7                     Selections                                5-3-4-6                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Rock of Luck

Never got involved on the sloppy track last week, but should be sitting much closer tonight from the pole.  Fairly wide open crew, nothing would shock me in here.  Your call.

2

Presidential Sam

Takes a drop from Open company into the conditioned ranks for the first time since arriving locally, and should find the class relief to his liking.  Not sure I’m willing to endorse him here at a short price though.

3

Augie’s

Hadn’t been in all that great of form recently prior to that blowout win last time at Hazel, but I must say that was fairly impressive.  If the prior ones from this barn have been firing well tonight, I’d jump on board here.

4

Final Flash

Makes his 2nd start down at this level, and I will mention he did tire badly while left alone on the lead here on the sloppy track.  I expected him to hang in much better.  Needs a big rebound.

5

Title Shot

If you tell me this guy is blasting out to the lead, I will tell you I like him a LOT in here at a big price.  If you tell me he is taking back, I’m not on board.  I’ll close my eyes and hope Shehan sends him as far as he can go.

6

McBlack

Shook loose late to get up for the show spot last week, and was very sharp in a win prior.  Should provide solid value in here, I’d be willing to throw him on the ticket.

7

Twelve Twenty

Not sure he is ready to take on the top ones in here just yet.  Pass.

8

Idbegood atthat

Not sure what he is good at, but it hasn’t been finishing his miles here recently.  I’ll wait until we see some signs of improvement.

9

Bar B’s Apache Cam

Likely coming from far back in here, not sure I like how things will set up for him from far outside post.

Race 8                     Selections                                4-1-6-2                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Blue Creek Abner

Finished up closely behind a couple of solid rivals last time, and should be sitting on or close to the lead after landing on the pole.  Maybe.

2

EJ’s Pocket Rocket

Steps up tonight to take on a bit better company than he has faced recently, but his best effort certainly puts him in the mix once again.  Your call.

3

Cladslast impression

Clad is taking yet another jump up in class tonight, I’m thinking this might be a bit ambitious for him.  Pass for now.

4

AB’s Beach Boy

Drops back in to take on a weaker crew here, and I’d like to see Bolon send him right down the road.  Was RAZOR sharp on the front 2 starts back.  Takes a drop back into that level, loves this racetrack.

5

Springhouse Rebel

Nearly pulled off the big upset on the off track last week, before having to settle for 2nd behind the heavy fav.  He can certainly step up with a big effort from time to time, lands in a perfect mid-pack post here.

6

Atlantic Filly

Another MI invader, for a barn that puts up some big numbers.  Looks like her best effort would put her in the mix against these.

7

Royal Stargazer

Not thrilled with the scratched ‘sick’ from last week, I’ll watch him go around here.

8

Powerful Odds

One thing you should be ensured with on this guy is powerful odds.  No question he could go with these if he’s at his best, but it won’t be easy after getting saddled with the outside post.

Race 9                     Selections                                7-3-1-8                                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Franchise Attack

Not sure what happened to him last time, but he IS much better than that.  Anything similar to his prior local efforts put him in play.  Maybe.

2

Awink&grin

Not much locally, would really have to pick things up quite a bit here.  Not tonight.

3

Realiscape

Finally got a smooth journey here last time on the off track, and parlayed that into a decent 3rd place finish.  I’ll toss him on the ticket once again.

4

Sixgun Galley

Hasn’t had much ammunition in 2 local tries.  I’ll pass for now.

5

Father in Law

No threat recently, would have to pick things up quite a bit still.  Pass.

6

Daring Do

Local Q’fer was average, and keep in mind this guy has yet to hit the board in 13 tries this season.  Barn has been on a roll, but I’ll wait until we see some signs of life from this guy.

7

Charley’s fastcat

Hard to gage his most recent efforts from the OH fair circuit, but he appears to be in good form on paper.  Shows winning at Hoosier earlier this year in 54.1  Anything remotely close to that would get it done.

8

Miss Little

Racing evenly against similar company recently, I suppose I could see her contending for the minor awards once again.

9

American Village

Barn has had some success locally, but this mare didn’t impress me in the local Q’fer.  I’ll watch her go around once first.

10

Hammers Princess

Yet another MI invader on tonight’s card, I would check back to see how the other ones have fared.  This mare does have a bit of early speed if De Mull elects to blast out.  Your call.

Race 10                   Selections                                7-5-4

1

Topville Diamond

Should be in line for a nice journey after landing on the pole, appears to be one of several with a shot in here behind the fav.

2

Dugan Run Dream

Couldn’t make up much ground even after they set him up last week with the hot pace.  No question the track was in bad shape, but not sure things are going to get much easier for him here.

3

McArdles Star

Tired badly in his debut for new connections last time on the class jump, I’ll wait until we see some improvement after that.

4

Western Tower

Has finished in the runner up spot at some boxcar odds in the last couple, and likely to offer good value once again.  Another one of several with a shot behind the fav.  Maybe.

5

Paul the Powerful

RAZOR sharp in those last couple of miles, and this guy seems to have a wicked late brush if you keep him covered up until the lane.  Should be flying late once again.

6

SBD First Blood

OH invader arrives in off 3 consecutive fair victories, but will need his very best to take out the top ones in here.  Sutton opted to #7 instead.

7

Jagger Blue Chip

Has been racing well against Open company, now takes a drop in for a claiming tag.  No doubt a little suspicious, but if he is anywhere near the top of his game he should DOMINATE.  Sutton opted here over #6.

Race 11                   Selections                                3-1-4

1

Madoff

Couldn’t fight off #’s 3 & 4 down the lane last time, but still dug in for a 3rd place finish.  Looks to be in play for the minor awards once again.

2

Doc’s Zippy

Never got involved last time, but should be sitting much closer tonight from inside post.  Still needs his very best against this crew.

3

J’s Six Pak Attack

Parlayed a perfect trip into the victory last week, and I could see a similar journey in here tonight.  Likes to win quite a bit, 9 of 26 on the season.  Any similar effort should put him close once again.

4

Camgrandest

Shook loose late to pick up a nice 2nd place finish behind #3, has been sharp since arriving locally.  Will need his very best once again.

5

Smarter Yet

Knocking heads with some tough company in MI recently, and has put together a solid season there hitting the board in 17 of 30 for over $56k.  Should be putting together a late rally here in short field.

6

The Comedian

8yo has overachieved in my opinion here all season, and this might be a bit tough for him once again.  Must respect his prior efforts, but I’ll pass on him tonight.

Race 12                   Selections                                1-2-7-3-4                                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

T Russell Lou

Fresh claim here for new connections, and I will assume they will have this guy locked and loaded here from the pole.  Might offer decent value after the dull effort last time.  I’m on board.

2

Drew Bromac

13yo raced well last time, tiring late to finish 4th after launching a first over attack.  Takes a drop down to our bottom level claimer, should find this more to his liking.  Maybe.

3

Fun Time

Has been racing very well recently at this level, but not sure I’m thrilled with how things will set up for him in here.  Post 3 likely means first over or pinned in, neither of which I’m a fan of his chances.  Underneath only.

4

Ndana Favorite

Tried out the $4k claiming ranks last time, and now moves down to the $2.5k level in what should be a much more manageable spot.  Lightly raced 11yo will need his very best.

5

Youremy addiction

Outraced her odds here off the extended layoff last time, and I would expect a bit of improvement here in her 2nd local try.  Maybe a shot at the minor awards once again.

6

Lady Cambest

Mare continues to put in solid efforts week after week against similar company, and lands in what appears to be the softest spot she has faced recently.  Still needs her very best though to contend for major awards.

7

Jo Jo’s Circus

Came from FAR back at the top of the lane last time, to end up beaten only a half length in finishing 3rd.  Ultra consistent mare lays it all on the line every single start.  She WILL be flying late.

8

Paper Luck

Hard to like everyone, and this guy does have some excuses with poor trips lately.  But we can’t endorse them all.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

9

Highland Hellion

Absolutely caved in at the head of the lane last time as a heavy fav.  I know it was an off track, and I know he was up in class.  But I did not like what I saw.  I’m off the bandwagon for now.
