Red Mile Race Reviews

Saturday, September 14th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-1-6

1

Scenic Art

Has been holding his own against similar company recently in OH, and now lands on the pole here in short field for his local debut.  Should pick up with the stretch out to the mile oval.  May end up with perfect trip behind #4.

2

Paul the Powerful

No luck against many of these same rivals last week, and still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones.  Would have to be really powerful to pull off the upset tonight.  Pass.

3

Mcardles Star

Raced a bit better last time in his 2nd start for new connections, but hooks a tough crew once again.  Would have to pick things up even more.

4

Jagger Blue Chip

Absolutely dominated many of these same rivals here last week as a heavy fav, and we are likely staring at an extremely short price once again.  No question the one to beat.

5

Minks Reiquest

Another that has raced evenly against similar company at Scioto, and is likely in play for the minor awards here.  Maybe.

6

SBD First Blood

Parlayed a perfect trip in behind #4 last time in to a solid 2nd place finish.  Not sure if things will work out that perfectly here.  Likely going to try and blast for early position once again.

Race 2                     Selections                                8-1-6

1

Patty Says So

Fired with a bit better effort here last time, finishing up a close 3rd behind a solid 2yo filly.  Lands on the pole once again, in what appears to be a fairly comfortable spot.  Must respect.

2

Moreagio

Should end up with a nice up close trip after drawing inside here, but I could only see him contending for the minor awards even on his best day.

3

OG’s Divine Lady

Actually was decent here early in the meet, but the train has went completely off the tracks recently.  Not heading in the right direction lately, but does add lasix tonight.  I’ll pass for now.

4

Victoria Valley

Lasix may have helped a bit since adding it 2 starts back, but she still seems to have a long way to go to compete for the major awards.

5

Muscledup Mouse

Shows winning at Hoosier earlier this season in 58.2, which would likely be enough to get a good piece here.  However, doesn’t appear to be in the best of form recently.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

6

Global Winner K

Back down in class at the same level he jogged at 3 starts back.  Should have a big shot if he is anywhere near that good once again.  Maybe.

7

Bonfire Red

Tough to gage this mare coming in from the IL fair circuit, but I would have to assume it would be asking a lot for her to hang with this crew.  Pass.

8

Gliding Boheme

Scored as my longshot of the night last time we saw her, and keep in mind she didn’t get out until very late in that mile.  I would expect her to be leaving a bit.  I’ll stick with her once again.

Race 3                     Selections                                5-1-4

1

Honeybadger

Got shut off briefly at the top of the lane the only time we saw her locally 3 starts back, and she still raced well to finish 3rd.  Should sit close after landing on the pole here.  I’m willing to take a shot.

2

Endeavors Moment

Raced evenly last time against similar company, and should be in line for a nice ground saving journey once again.  Your call.

3

Call Me Elizabeth

Another one invading from the IL fairs, and it’s a bit tough to gage her recent starts.  She drew in pretty soft here tonight.  Not quite sure what to do with her.

4

B Good Lexi

Enters tonight with an 0 for 31 LT resume, but she is another that raced a bit better in that last try.  Certainly couldn’t endorse her for the win, but maybe underneath.

5

Ivy’s American

Has really rounded the corner in her local efforts, and I don’t think there is any question that she is the one to beat here.  Any smooth journey should be enough.

6

Fox Valley Venus

Added lasix prior to the last start, but that didn’t seem to help her stamina issues.  Barn did have a winner here last Sunday, but I’m not ready to endorse this filly just yet.

7

Littleworth Shake

Hasn’t been remotely competitive to this point, would have to get a LOT better in a hurry.  Pass.

Race 4                     Selections                                2-4-1-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Bee Gee

Pretty amazing that she hung in for as long as she did last time after battling the eventual winner first over.  Still had enough in the tank to get home in 27.4.  Likely a better journey coming here after landing on the pole.

2

Ohmybelle

Not thrilled with taking a 3yo filly over a 4yo male, but this is a special filly.  Tough trip in the $250k KYSS final, but she still hung in there with her rivals, only getting beat 2 lengths for the whole thing.  I’m on board.

3

Lion of Judah

This lion seems to have landed at the wrong end of the jungle tonight.  Tough spot.  Pass.

4

Bazinga

Substantial drop down tonight from Open company into the NW ranks.  Finished up a solid 2nd against a tough crew in his last.  Must respect.  Likely a short price looming.

5

Feds Express

Not really sure what to think, as we haven’t seen this mare in over 2 weeks since being claimed.  Connections obv like her a bit, they opted not to put her back in for the tag.  I’ll toss her on the ticket.

6

Twelve Twenty

No threat in his local debut, looks to be overmatched once again.  Pass.

7

Blueridge Adalia

Decent local Q’fer for this filly, who had a big mile as a 2yo at Colonial in 53.2.  We haven’t seen her in an actual race in 2 months now though, she might need a start.

8

Kiss and Saygoodby

Obviously was a bit short last time in her first start in 20 months, and still would be asking a lot for her to be ready for this crew just yet.  Pass.

Race 5                     Selections                                5-1-6

1

Argon Fire

Could only manage 3rd as a heavy fav last time, but was beaten by a couple of solid rivals that night.  Lands on the pole once again in what appears to be a fairly wide open crew.  Maybe.

2

My Roberto

Rolled over an easier field here last time, and keep in mind he was well beaten by #5 two starts back.  I have been a big fan of this guy, but even I’m not sure he is ready for these just yet.

3

Goodtimin Cam

Raced well in his local debut here last week, coming up only a nose short of starting a win streak after beginning his career 0 for 39.  Connections appear to have him going the right direction, but steps up tonight.

4

Allcardsall thetime

No match for KYSS colts last time, and I still think he may be a notch or two below the favs in here as well.  Would have to pick things up a bit.

5

Twice As Hard

Don’t be too hard on him for that last start, he got caught in the back and they sprinted that last half in 55 seconds.  Will likely have a bit better pace to chase in here, typically unleashes a good late kick.

6

Secluded Beach

I’d like to be on any beach right now…  secluded, public, you name it.  This filly is off to a promising start to her career, holding her own on the tough PASS circuit.  Likely just a prep here though.

7

CG’s Serious

No match for OHSS company recently, and lands on the outside of what has turned out to be a tough spot for this level locally.  Not tonight, and I’m serious.  Lachance opted to #6 instead.

Race 6                     Selections                                5-7-1                       Pick 4 Starts Here                  See Ticket at the end

1

Paper Luck

Raced evenly against similar company last week, and keep in mind he did have clearance down the lane just not enough punch.  No doubt Barker will have him sitting close from the pole.  Must respect.

2

Pureform Misskiss

Finally gets some post relief tonight, but hasn’t been much of a threat in her last few.  Will still need to pick things up quite a bit.

3

Jo Jo’s Circus

Didn’t really fire with her usual late burst last time, but it’s hard to be too hard on her after they sprinted home in 28 flat on the clock.  No real early speed, not sure I like her chances from first over.  Tricky spot for her.

4

Change Agent

Removed lasix prior to the last start, and it appears that it actually helped out a bit.  Still going to have to pick things up a bit more to contend for any of the major awards though.

5

Roxie Lee

If there is a tough trip possible, this mare has found it lately.  Hard to knock her efforts though, just going through a string of bad luck.  Perfect mid-pack post tonight and plenty of options.  I’ll take a shot.

6

S F Stampede

OH invader has had some stamina issues recently, and I’m not sure things are going to get any easier for him when he stares down that long stretch here at The Red Mile.

7

Lady Cambest

Mare has hit the board here at some big prices this season, and we are likely looking at square value on her once again.  I am willing to toss her on the ticket  Typically offers a solid late kick.

8

Hillcrest Domingo

Has been getting a bit better with each start, but still asking a lot for him to go with these just yet.  Pass.

9

Drew Bromac

Dropped down to this level last time and could only manage an even 4th place finish.  Things won’t get much easier from way out here.  Will need his very best.

10

Jeremy Sharky

Not much success yet locally, and now gets slammed with post 10.  The shark appears to be in deep water.

Race 7                     Selections                                5-8-2-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Massasauga

Has been on the improve here recently, but steps up to take on a tough crew tonight.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

2

Voodoo Victor

Vic has some talent when he decides to mind his manners, but it’s always tough to pick when he is going to remain on stride.  Draws inside, his best effort puts him in play.  Nisonger opted here over #7.

3

I Am the King

I think the King will be dethroned against this crew.  Not for me.

4

Bristol

Decent 4th place finish against similar company last week, but things certainly aren’t going to get any easier here.   Would still need to pick things up quite a bit.

5

Handover Belle

Filly competed in the $500k Hambletonian Oaks just over a month ago, and now she turns up to take on overnight company locally.  Anything close to her best effort should crush this crew.

6

North Broadway

A distant 3rd the only time we saw him locally, and lands in against what appears to be a standout in #5.  I could consider him for the minor awards only.

7

Custom Tag

Flashed some improvement with a better 3rd place finish last time, but still a long way to go to contend for any of the major awards against this crew.  Nisonger opted to #2 instead.

8

Rock With It

Aggressively driven in his 2nd start back off the long layoff last time, and he raced much better in a solid 2nd place finish.  Not sure he is ready for #5 just yet, but should continue to improve with each try.

9

Viewlander

OH invader lands in an overly tough spot for this level locally, can’t endorse him against these.

10

I Need Your Help

Going to need a lot more than my help to go with the top ones in here from post 10.  Not tonight.

Race 8                     Selections                                3-4-1-9                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Real Hanover

11yo veteran seems to like the red clay surface, finishing up a dead game 2nd when we saw him locally 2 starts back.  Should be able to dictate the terms after landing on the pole.  Maybe.

2

Jen Finn

Another solid effort for this mare last time in a wire-to-wire win, but she is taking a significant step up in class tonight.  Would have to pick things up even more to contend for the major awards here.

3

Presidential Sam

I wasn’t here last Saturday, so I had to go back and check out the replay on this guy.  Let me tell you, he was hopelessly locked in and appeared overloaded down the lane.  Needs his very best, but I’m taking a shot.

4

T Russell Lou

Solid debut for new connections last week, and they opt to not put him back in for the claiming tag after that win.  Anything close to that effort appears to make him the one to beat.

5

Gunner McKenna

Unleashed a furious rally down the stretch last time, closing from last to get the victory.  BIG step up tonight to take on much better company, but he’s been rounding the corner a bit.  Your call.

6

Miss Little

Not much success recently against similar company, and likely asking a bit much for her to go with these.

7

Smoke Rings

Finished up far behind his rivals after getting caught up in a big mile at Duqouin, and hasn’t drawn in against easy rivals here.  I’ll pass for now.

8

Take a Shot Scott

Another that steps up after an impressive victory, but faces what appears to be tougher company tonight.  Would need his absolute very best shot.

9

Stone Appeal

Drops down to find some class relief, just fitting the condition here by a mere $25.  The class relief should be able to wake him up a bit.  I may toss him on the ticket underneath.

10

Springhouse Rebel

Has hit the board at some big prices over the last few starts, and will likely offer big value once again from way out here.  Likely going to have to do it from last, just not sure I like the thought of that.

Race 9                     Selections                                10-3-2-6                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Sister Gola

Has really rounded the corner in her last couple of starts, but the competition has gotten that much tougher.  Not sure I can endorse her against these.

2

Uncommon Night

East coast invader has won here in the past, and she has been holding her own recently with some tough overnight company.  Lands on the inside of her main rivals here, I’ll use her behind the fav.

3

Natural Forces

Made quick work of local rivals last week, but things have gotten a LOT tougher here tonight.  Will need his absolute very best just to land on the ticket against this crew.  Maybe.

4

Banco Solo

Ended up missing the $250k KYSS final after making a break in the 2nd leg, and now hooks tough company here in local overnight.  Likely will be trying to save ground and shake loose late for a piece.  Lachance opted to #10.

5

Altesse

Mare appears to be overmatched against this crew.  Pass.

6

Mystical Dew

The 2012 KYSS Champ picked up a decent $20k check in this year’s $250k final behind some top level colts.  Should continue to improve in his 4th start back of the season.  Maybe underneath.

7

Special Purpose

MI invader appears buried here after having to take on Open company.  Not tonight.

8

Chinese Cuisine

Not sure why he was scratched last time at Hoosier, but he was very impressive in both local tries prior.  Taking on much tougher crew here though, will need his very best to get a piece.

9

Ginger Tree Wanda

No match at this level last week, and things just got a lot harder tonight.  Pass.

10

My MVP

Fairly shocking to see the 2012 KY Futurity Champ in town this early, but it’s nice to see him back at his favorite track.  He really took off here last year on the way to a $721k season.  Put a circle around him.

Race 10                   Selections                                7-3-1

1

Nocturnal Rose

Fired back with a better effort last week with an aggressive steer, and will likely sit close once again after landing on the pole.  Will need her absolute very best.

2

Through My Eyes

Could only manage a distant 3rd last time after a perfect trip, and likely is still a notch or two below the top ones in here.  Pass.

3

Hippie Chic

Typically not a fan of 3yo’s taking on older company, but this lass has held her own recently with some tough rivals in Canada.  Likely will get a nice up close trip.  Maybe.

4

Deo Gloria

Tired down the lane here last week after an aggressive first over move, and she might be just a notch or two below the top ones still.  I could consider her for the minor awards only.

5

Tailor’s Filly

Completely packed it in after aggressive handling last time, would take a complete turnaround to contend for any of the major awards here.  Your call.

6

Hereiam Coolwater

Appears overmatched still at this level.  Pass.

7

Sea Bug

No question this mare is in career best form right now for our leading barn.  She can leave or come from off the pace.  Looking to make it 3 in a row tonight.  Must respect.

Race 11                   Selections                                2-7-1-4-5                 10 Cent Hi Five Wagering

1

Madoff

Expectedly tired a bit late after getting caught up in an early duel last time.  Lands on the pole tonight, and any smoother journey should put him in play for the minor awards at least.

2

J’s Six Pak Attack

Appeared overloaded down the lane here last week as a heavy fav, but had absolutely no place to race.  I would expect Lachance to have him in play early here.  Big shot.

3

McBlack

Big step up tonight, not sure he is ready for these just yet.  Pass.

4

Mobil Big John

Parlayed a perfect trip into a LT best here last week, for a gelding who is razor sharp right now and in career best form.  Plenty of options here after landing in mid-pack post.  Maybe.

5

Camgrandest

Finished a distant 2nd behind #8 last time, and 2nd behind #2 the start prior.  Has been knocking on the door here recently, but going to have to pick it up a bit to contend for top honors.

6

Stand Tall

Couldn’t last on the lead here last week, but still dug in a bit down the lane to finish up 4th.  Not sure things are going to get any easier though against this crew, would need his very best.

7

Smarter Yet

Absolutely unleashed a vicious late kick to power away from his rivals a week ago, en route to an easy score in a new LT best.  No question he will be flying late once again.  Any smooth journey puts him close.
