Red Mile Nightly Selections

Saturday, October 8th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-5-6-7

1

Tawesome More

Went a huge mile to win in 53.2 earlier this summer at The Big M, and has tailed off drastically since.  Lands in against a heavy fav, but completely wide open for the minor awards.  Needs a big wakeup call.

2

Patty Says So

Stamina has been the main concern for Patty recently, and she is going to need to come up with more late to hang with the top ones in here.

3

Here Comes Jenny

Jenny has held her own against Ontario sired company recently, but hooks one of the toughest fillies in the country in #4.  Should sit close, and could certainly hang around for a piece late.

4

Iron Lady

Was razor sharp just over a month ago, and now we haven’t seen her since making a break in the Moni Maker.  Q’fed against a top colt, so I wouldn’t worry about the margin of defeat.  Will she be 100% here?

5

Love U Overandover

Game effort here last week, only to be gunned down by #7 in deep stretch.  Filly has quietly banked over $115k on the season, and finished 1-2 14 of 20 starts.  Any similar effort puts her right in the mix once again.

6

A Fair Chance

Ended up parked the mile in big bulky field last week, and had to settle for 4th behind her upset minded stablemate (#7).  Should end up with a smoother journey here in smaller field tonight.

7

Sephora De Vie

Parlayed a perfect pocket trip behind #5 into a shocking 58-1 upset last time!  If you missed the party that night, it’s hard to justify coming back with her in here at a MUCH shorter price.

Race 2                     Selections                                9-5-1-6

1

Upside Hanover

($18k HB yearling) Was able to get the job done as a heavy fav last week, but I will caution that she was locked on a line for a big portion of that mile.  Appears to have landed in another comfortable spot, and will likely be a big fav once again.

2

Keeping Grace

MI invader has been holding her own recently at Northville, but taking a big step up to take on a solid crew of open bred fillies here.  Not sure I can recommend her against these.

3

Sunset Magic

($35k Lex yearling) Game first over try against similar last week in her first local start, and she appears to have landed in another nice spot.  Should be a major player in here.  Lachance opted here over #5.

4

Mapple Bi

Showed some improvement in her 2nd LT start last time, but still going to have to find more to go with the top ones in here.  I’ll watch another one first.  Sears opted to #1 instead.

5

Mrs Mrs Jones

($20k Lex yearling) Taking a major plunge in class from stakes company to LC ranks here.  Should find this a lot more to her liking, and I am expecting a big wakeup call here.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

6

Donatoprincess

Added hobbles for the last start and had a perfect 2nd over trip behind #3.  Ended up only a half length back in 3rd in what was an improved effort.  Appeared to put a halt to the breaking problems as well.  Maybe.

7

Melrose Abbey

($100k Lex yearling) Blasted to the top in her first start with hobbles last time, and although it appeared to solve the breaking problems, it certainly didn’t add any stamina.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  YG opted to #6.

8

Mrs D

Offstride at the start last time, but filly has held her own against some pretty decent company thus far.  My main man, 18yo Jay Hochstetler, gets the call once again.  Should provide plenty of value.

9

Mystical Escapade

Followed #1 up last time, but had to end up settling for 3rd.  She appeared to relax a lot better in there, but she also has plenty of early speed if Pierce elects to leave for position.  Definitely fits with these.

Race 3                     Selections                                7-1-2-6

1

Mybrothergeorge

($110k HB yearling) Just when I started to 2nd guess George a bit, he unleashes a HUGE effort last time and gets up at the last possible jump to the wire.  Hooks a VERY tough rival in #7, but should sit close from inside post.

2

Hillbilly Hanover

($105k HB yearling) A 25.1 final quarter??  For a 2yo??  I had to go back and watch the reply to believe it, and regardless of what the actual time was he was FLYING late!  Will be sitting MUCH closer here.  Live longshot?

3

Social Network

($25k Lex yearling) Tracked the top duo intently down the lane, and ended up holding 3rd behind a couple of nice colts in stakes action last week.  A much improved effort, but he has even more new friend requests to deal with here.

4

Mortal Zin

($27k HB yearling) Sam Mckee put the word out on this guy last time, and he unleashed a big effort to come up a half of a nose short of pulling the 23-1 upset!  Appears to have hooked an even tougher crew here though.  YG opted to #7.

5

Rockweiller

Put in a nice late rally up the inside in LC action last week, but couldn’t collar his stablemate late.  Lands in a stacked up division of colts here, but looks like one of many with a shot at the minor awards.

6

D Terminata

($36k Lex yearling) Stormed home on the far outside and ended up finishing a close 4th.  I would expect a similar off the pace rally here, but lands back in against a top notch crew.  JC opted here over #3.

7

A Rocknroll Dance

($15k HB yearling) Absolutely steamrolled that field in stakes action last week, and he was possibly the most impressive 2yo of week 1.  I will point out that it wasn’t an overly tough crew though.  This IS a tough crew here.

 Race 4                     Selections                                1-2-4-6

1

Simply Business

($350k Lex yearling – highest RNRH sold in ’10) Simply Business was simply brilliant in his first local start off the layoff last week.  Might have gotten a tad lonely once he grinded by first over, but dug in for the win late.  Certainly the one to beat.

2

Bakin on the Beach

($25k Lex yearling) Absolutely firing late to close within 2 lengths of #1 to finish 5th.  Should sit much closer from inside post here, and could potentially get a golden seat behind #1.  Will need his very best to make any major noise.

3

Maytime Terror

($125k Lex yearling) Talented freshman was my longshot of the night play last Saturday, and briefly took the lead as the field turned for home before tiring a bit late.  Appears wide open behind the fav, and any smoother journey should put him close.

4

Sing for me George

($35k Lex yearling) Huge late rally to knock off a solid colt in the overnight last time, and looks to have landed in a wide open crew here outside of the fav.  Should be flying late once again.  Maybe.

5

Peck Blue Chip

($20k HB yearling) Parlayed a perfect pocket trip to get the job done in LC last week, but takes a big step up to take on the best of the best here.  Not sure I can hop on board against these.

6

Ideal Champ

($15k Lex yearling) Expectedly tired late after getting parked first over in the middle of making his 2nd move.  Any smoother journey would certainly put him in the mix here.  DM opted off to #7.

7

Coast to Coast

($45k Lex yearling) Held his own against NYSS company recently, but stepping up to take on the best colts in the country here from the outside post.  Not sure I like how things set up for him in here.  DM chose over #6.

Race 5                     Selections                                7-2-1-3

1

Strike an Attitude

Enjoyed the return to the big track here last week, and closed well into the quick pace to finish up a nice 2nd behind #7.  Lands back in against the top fillies here, but has proven she can go with them.  Maybe.

2

Idyllic

Juggette Champion is yet to miss the board in 22 LT starts, but she was a runaway on the front end last time for DM.  Went some TOUGH miles recently, will it start to catch up to her?

3

Rocklamation

Flaunted her early speed at Delaware, and ended up only missing a neck to #2 in the final heat.  I would presume that she will end up on her back again here, and could certainly hang around for a piece late.  YG opted to #7.

4

Southwind Jazmin

Ended up with the dreaded 8 hole in NYSS final at The Spa, but things aren’t going to get any easier here against the best fillies in the country regardless of the post.

5

Whats New Pussycat

Never got worked into the race last time, but lands right back in what appears to be the toughest of two divisions here.  Not sure I can endorse her against these.

6

Foxy Lady

Couldn’t keep up off the torrid fractions against many of these same fillies last time, and I can’t say that I see that changing in here.  YG opted to #7 instead.

7

Drop the Ball

Absolutely brilliant in sprinting away from a nice field en route to a LT best performance here last week.  If she is anywhere near that good again, go ahead and put a circle around her.  YG opted here over #’s 3 & 6.

Race 6                     Selections        2-1-7-9                    Start of $10,000 Guaranteed Pick 4      See ticket at the end

1

Someheartsomewhere

Absolutely loved this filly in her first local start, and she absolutely fired a blank off a perfect trip.  She IS better than that, and she will be a MUCH better price here.  I’ll give her one more chance.

2

BJ’s Mayreau

Words can’t describe how unbelievable this effort was last week.  She made a break while in the midst of a BIG move, lost a dozen lengths, got back down and still sprinted by them.  I mean WOW!  She was DQ’d for interfering with #10, but you have to still be sick if you played her in there.  I’m on board.  DM opted to #3.

3

Collage

Was perfectly positioned 3rd over in there last week, but she didn’t have one ounce of pace even before making a break down the lane.  She has talent, but I can’t come back with her after that.  DM opted here over #2.

4

Land D’s Taylor

Made an aggressive move to the top through a quick opening half, and expectedly tired a bit late.  Still a nice effort, and any smoother journey should put her close once again.  TT opted here over #7.

5

Show the World

Regally bred filly rebounded with a solid effort last time, but is going to need even more here in big bulky field tonight.  A wide open field to kick off tonight’s $10k Pick 4.

6

Nina Coleada

Left hard last time, only to get shuffled back, and still had some pop on the end of it and actually got placed as the winner after #2 was DQ’d.  A big effort, and anything similar puts her close again.

7

Latin Lyric

Sprinted by them all late last time, and filly shows 3 consecutive wins in her last 3 starts on the mile track.  I would expect another off the pace rally here, and she WILL be flying late.  TT opted off to #4 instead.

8

Day to Ponder

Tired badly after making an aggressive move to the top last time, and filly is nowhere near as sharp as when we saw her last year.  I will wait until we see some improvement.

9

Continual Velocity

Absolutely flying when she shook loose late last time, and ended up finishing up a nice 2nd behind #7.  Not done any favors with post 9 here, but she has proven she can go with these and will be a nice price.

10

Sonata Mindale

Absolutely wiped out when #2 made the break last week, so don’t be too hard on her for the last one.  Looking past that, she still gets slammed with post 10 against a tough crew.  Not tonight.

11

Kiss Me Callie

Tried to bottom out the field for JC last time, but ended up tiring late.  Should get away decent from the 2nd tier here, but still going to need her very best to make any major noise against these.

 Race 7                     Selections                                7-5-6-4

1

Knockout Doll

($43k HB yearling) Quarter moved to the lead and cut out a very sensible pace last time, only to pack it in late.  Hooks an even tougher crew here, and would need to find a LOT more.

2

Breakdance Hanover

($62k HB yearling) Connections obviously still tinkering with this filly, and she made a break after they removed the hobbles last time for her 2nd career start.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  DM opted to #6.

3

Majestic Kash

Well beaten by #5 last time, but it does appear wide open in here behind the two favs.  Looks to be one of many with a shot at the minor awards.  Should continue to improve in LT start #4.

4

Aldebaran Malibu

($30k Lex yearling) Beat a pretty solid field with an off the pace rally in her first local start,  but has run into some trouble in her last couple.  Still think there is some talent here, and should provide plenty of value.

5

Powell Blue Chip

($32k HB yearling) Pierce hopped in the bike last time, and this filly came up with a very nice effort to pull off a big win.  Lands back in another comfortable spot here, and looks like a two horse race with #7.

6

Holier Than Thou

($65k HB yearling) Absolutely blocked behind a wall of horses here last week after being shuffled back to last on the inside.  Appeared to have plenty of trot, just nowhere to go.  Should be close with any smoother journey.  DM opted here over #’s 2 & 8.

7

Northern Miss Hall

Not exactly sure what happened last time, but this filly IS better than that.  I’m guessing all systems are go if they stuck her right back in tonight.  And if she’s at her best, they won’t beat her.

8

Say What

($43k HB yearling) Lands on the outside of a fairly tough crew, and she would need a lot more stamina to have any say in here.  Pass.  DM opted off for #6.

Race 8                     Selections                                5-2-4-3

1

Damon Blue Chip

($110k HB yearling) Damon never fired against a tough crew last time, but has held his own against some nice colts earlier this season.  Lands in another solid crew tonight, and will need to find a lot more to hang with the top ones in here.

2

Sweet Lou

($38k HB yearling) Lou was the heavy fav against #5 last time, but came up a head short after a thrilling stretch battle. Still was a solid effort, and has never been worse than 2nd in 9 LT starts.  Big shot.

3

Ezpass Hanover

($22k HB yearling) Got his first true test against top level stakes company last time, and I would say he passed with flying colors in finishing 2nd to a VERY nice colt.  Should sit close once again, and he definitely fits with these.  DM opted here over #6.

4

Bettor’s Edge

Got a nice trip behind the two favs in here last time, and sprinted right home with them to finish up a close 3rd.  One of several with early speed in here, and any similar journey should put him right in the mix.

5

Bolt the Duer

($70k HB yearling – highest Ponder sold in ’10) Absolutely perfect steer from HOF’er Lachance last time, and this colt has proven that he can go with anything out there.  Got his head up on the wire over #2, but not sure the trip will work out as well here.  Needs his very best once again.

6

Friday at Five

Ended up first over against #2 last time, and that was obviously not a very fun spot to be in.  How many times do you see a colt sprint home in 26.4 and actually lose five spots?  Going to need more here.  DM opted to #3.

7

Who’s Your Maddy

($32k HB yearling) Rode the pylons last time and closed a bit late to finish up a decent 4th.  Lands right back in a solid group here, and things aren’t going to get any easier.

8

Ideal Ike

Hasn’t had any luck with the post draws since arriving in town, and lands right back on the outside against another tough crew.  Likely to be trying it from last once again.  Not sure I like that.

Race 9                     Selections                                7-2-5-1

1

Little Michael B

($72k Lex yearling) Rode the pylons against a solid crew last time, and ended up racing evenly even though he had to settle for 7th.  Lands right back on the pole here, and it appears this may be a touch easier than last time.  Maybe.

2

Shakerattlenrock

($30k HB yearling) Used hard to make the lead last time, and it ended up taking its toll late as he tired to finish 4th.  Should be tighter in his 2nd start back off the brief layoff, and I look for a big effort.

3

Acrylic Hanover

($100k HB yearling) No luck against stakes company last week, and it doesn’t look like things are going to get any easier here.  Pass.

4

Call Me Mr P

($6k Lex yearling) Didn’t have anything to offer in stakes company last time, and looks to be in over his head a bit once again.

5

Escape the News

Had a nice trip last time, and he came charging up the inside late to take a big shot at the heavy fav.  There is no Simply Business in here, and any similar effort should put him very close once again.

6

Verdad

Finished up decently to be 4th off a nice 2nd over trip last time, but I will point out that he couldn’t take out #1 3 starts back in the $104k Babic at Freehold.  Will need his very best once again.

7

Caviart Key

($12k Lex yearling) I am a big fan of this KY sired colt, and he was a dominant winner at Delaware on Jug Day.  Got caught in the back here last time, and you simply can’t do anything else other than sprint home in 25.4.  More times than not, that will get the money.  I think he can make some noise at a nice price here.

8

Station Threeohsix

Sat right on the back of #5 last time, but couldn’t keep up with the top ones in there late.  Lands on the outside of another solid group here, and will need to find even more.

 Race 10                   Selections                                2-6-3-1

1

Pretty Katherine

Couldn’t keep up with her stablemate in the Jugette Final, but she actually lands in what appears to be the softer of two divisions here in the finale.  Should improve with the stretch back out to the mile track.  Your call.

2

Krispy Apple

In my (non)expert opinion, it appeared that this filly got pinched in the first turn last time so I am willing to give her a pass for the break.  Gets her regular pilot back here, and she is supposed to beat these.

3

Myluvmylife

I won’t mention how many times I was going to have the trifecta if she could have held 2nd in her Juggette heat, but that’s neither here nor there.  Had been racing very well to that point, but she was just honestly not very good at all in there.  I can’t get that mile out of my head for whatever reason.  Should be close if she’s right.

4

Honky Tonk Woman

Couldn’t keep up with her stablemate in there late last time, as this filly got caught up in the frantic early pace set by Idyllic.  Shouldn’t see anything like that here, but still needs a big rebound.

5

Ace of Pace

No match for the top fillies in there last week, but should find this spot to be a bit easier than that.  Still going to need a LOT more if she’s going to make any major noise.

6

Swinging Beauty

Closed up nicely from an impossible spot to finish 4th last time, and should be in much better striking range tonight in smaller crew.  Also, she doesn’t have to deal with any of the 3 that beat her.  Must respect.

7

Tu Sei Bella

Hasn’t proven she can go with the top fillies just yet.  I’ll pass.
