Red Mile Race Reviews

Saturday, August 31st

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-2-3

1

Sixgun Galley

Completely packed it in after landing on the lead here on the off track last time.  Would take a complete turnaround to hang with the top ones in here.  Pluta opted off to #4, I’ll do the same.

2

Realiscape

Tough trip from far outside post last week, and still finished up a decent 5th.  Should like the post relief tonight and smaller field.  Yet to get a smooth journey since he has arrived locally, maybe tonight.

3

Father in Law

11yo hasn’t had much luck in 2 local tries, but lands in what should be a much more manageable spot here.  Has some early speed if Barker elects to use it.  Price should be right.

4

Rep Tie

Hasn’t raced since being claimed over a year ago in Minnesota.  Tried to Q’fy at Bluegrass, only to make a break.  However looked good over the mile strip locally.  Anything close to that makes him the one to beat.

5

Bella Sophia

Tried to go down the road in her local debut, only to tire badly down the lane.  Stamina appears to be the main issue.  Needs more.

6

Poker Dice

No luck in 2 local tries, I’ll wait until we see some improvement before rolling the dice on him.

7

Miss Little

Continues to improve with each and every start, and now lands on the outside of short field in what will be her 5th start back of the season.  Any further improvement should put her in the mix.  Your call.

Race 2                     Selections                                4-5-3

1

Sister Gola

Finally showed a bit of improvement last week with the aggressive first over steer, and dug in down the lane for a close 5th place finish.  Lands on the pole tonight against a solid crew though.  Your call.

2

Global Winner K

Absolutely won under wraps against lesser company last week, but now takes a step up to take on a much tougher group tonight.  I’m not sure he is ready for these just yet.

3

His Dream Girl

A nice 2nd place finish behind #5 last time in her local debut, and I would expect a similar ground saving journey here.  Must respect.  Lachance opted to #5 instead.

4

Redurbeautiful

Held her own against some top level fillies in KYSS legs, and typically unleashes a big late kick in the stretch drive.  If things set up for her in here, she WILL be flying late.  Maybe.

5

Rome

Finally returned to form here last week to pull off the 21-1 upset at this level.  Will be nowhere near that price tonight.  I missed the party last week at that price, I’d hate to show up for the funeral as the fav here.

6

Master Host

Tired after an aggressive move to the top last week, I would expect him to revert back to the off the pace tactics here.  Needs his very best to contend for any of the major awards.

7

Ginger Tree Wanda

Trotted evenly to finish 3rd as a heavy fav last week, and lands on the far outside once again tonight.  I wasn’t overly impressed with the last effort, I’ll pass for now.

Race 3                     Selections                                4-5-6

1

Clooney

Yet to show any stamina whatsoever locally.  Pass for now.

2

Leadmeto thetruth

Took a brutal shuffle in that last mile after getting pinned in behind #1.  Doesn’t look that great on paper, so we might end up with a decent price on this guy.  Don’t overlook.

3

Theshadow nose

Appears to be overmatched once again.  Pass.

4

T Russell Lou

Hopelessly pinned in behind #1 last time, and appeared to have quite a bit of pace when he shook loose late in the mile to finish 2nd.  Any smoother journey puts him squarely in the mix.  Bolon opted to #6 instead.

5

Doc’s Sea Lion

Talk about a plunge in class, this guy drops from Open company into our bottom level claimer tonight.  Pulled off a big upset 2 back against conditioned company.  His best effort puts him in play.

6

Fun Time

Very sharp at this level since arriving locally, should be flying late once again.  Closed from far back to finish 3rd behind a couple of solid rivals here on Sunday.  Must respect.  Bolon opted here over #4.

7

Glad to be Here

Tough trip last time, so I wouldn’t be too hard on him with the dull finish.  Should be in line for a nice journey following #6 up tonight, and could parlay that into a much better finish.

8

Paper Luck

Actually raced a bit better than I expected after a tough first over trip in that last mile, hanging on to finish a fairly close 5th.  One of several that merit attention in here.

9

Already Spent

I wouldn’t be willing to spend anything on her in this spot.  Not tonight.

Race 4                     Selections                                6-1-3-9                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Fanticipation

Quite honestly I thought she was beat turning for home last time, but she really kicked into another gear down the lane to sprint by her rivals in deep stretch.  Lands on the pole, but facing some older rivals here.

2

Buckshot Express

Fired an absolute blank in his local debut.  I will mention he didn’t have the easiest of trips and that was a fairly tough crew, but he really packed it in down the lane.  I’ll wait until we see signs of life.

3

Bee Gee

Unleashed a furious stretch rally to finish 2nd behind #9 in her last try.  Barn has been firing on all cylinders over the last week or so.  Lots to like.  Lachance opted to #1 instead.

4

Our Flight

Finally gets a bit of post relief locally, after landing in 9,10 in his first 2 local tries.  Finished up 3rd behind a nice duo here on 8-10.  Still would need his very best here to contend for any of the major awards.

5

Pepstepn’ Penelope

Penelope slowly seems to be finding some pep in her step, but faces another tough assignment tonight against this crew.  I’ll pass for now.

6

Ellie’s Best Dream

Racing well in the conditioned claiming ranks, and now steps up to take on straight NW tonight.  Has some early speed, and should be able to sit close.  No question her best puts her squarely in the mix.

7

Looking for Love

Ended up tiring after getting caught up in a big mile last time, and she had been ‘ok’ against similar company here prior.  Still might be asking a bit much for her.

8

Blueridge Adalia

Finished 2nd in the Q’fer behind #4 in tonight’s first race, check and see how he did.  Add extra points if he raced huge.  Still not convinced that she will be ready to go off the layoff at first asking.

9

Royal Ideal

Sprinted by his rivals from dead last a couple weeks back en route to the victory.  Might have to do the same thing tonight after landing on the far outside.  Hard to take a short price on him with that in mind.

Race 5                     Selections                                2-9-5-3                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Through My Eyes

A nice even 4th place finish behind #9 last time, and should sit close once again after landing on the pole.  Appears to have a major shot at the minor awards once again.

2

Sea Bug

I must admit that this mare was absolutely charging at #9 when she shook loose down the lane, team ‘Anthrottle’ on a roll recently.  Draws inside of her main rival here.  Must respect.  Lachance chose over #6.

3

Nocturnal Rose

Never got involved after getting away far back last time, but she should be sitting much closer in this spot tonight.  I’ll toss her on the ticket to add some value in the S’fecta.

4

Kay Low

OH invader has been racing evenly in the conditioned ranks at Scioto recently, but not sure she is ready for the top ones in here just yet.  I’ll watch one first.

5

Deo Gloria

Ended up with another tough trip last time at this level, and might fly a bit under the radar here after the last couple of starts.  No question she can go with these when she’s on top of her game.  Maybe.

6

Tailor’s Filly

Yet another OH invader, who should get a nice trip in here following live cover from post 6.  Would still need her absolute very best to contend for any of the major awards.  Lachance opted to #2 instead.

7

Hillbilly Desire

No threat after sitting far back in that last mile, and likely going to be coming from far back once again.  Not sure if I like how things set up for her in here.

8

Hereiam Coolwater

Likely going to be sitting last in here tonight, assuming that the fav will be blasting early from post 9.  Going to be an uphill battle from there.

9

Native Dream

I will say that she didn’t absolutely dominate last week, but she did get the job done as the 1-9 fav.  Assigned the outside tonight, yet to miss the board all season in banking $128k.  Must respect.

Race 6                     Selections                                4-8-10                     Pick 4 Starts Here                  See Ticket at the End

1

Rachael Renee

1st time starter hasn’t shown much speed in the AM, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

2

Mor For All

Well beaten at this level in the last couple, and would really have to pick things up to contend for any of the major awards.  Not for me.

3

The Professor

Professor Eferstein in the bike here on the lightly raced 4yo, and I’ll watch closely here in his 1st start in over a year.  Victorious in the Q’fer, but keep in mind they came a back half there in almost 1:05.

4

Awesome Feather

Absolutely roughed up in each of the last 2 tries, and I do think she is good enough to go with this crew with any type of smooth journey.  Price should be right tonight as well.  I’m willing to hop on board.

5

Don’t Goa Way

Lost all chance with a tough trip last week, finishing up 5th as the 4-5 fav.  Lands in a perfect mid-pack post tonight in her 3rd local start.  Price should be better.  Maybe.

6

Ivy’s American

A big late kick last time, closing from last to finish a nice 2nd in behind #8.  Has plenty of underneath finishes, but keep in mind she is 0 for 27 for the win.  Underneath only.

7

High Hopes

No luck against straight nw1 the only time we saw her locally, and she would have to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any of the major awards here.  My hopes are not high she can pull off the upset.

8

I Be Da One

Absolutely loved this gal last time, and she was able to get the job done at 2-1 in her first drop in for a tag.  Should be able to pounce late, and I’ll toss her on the ticket once again.

9

Sadies Scooter

Did have a win here last year in 56.1, but doesn’t appear to have come back all that well thus far in her 5yo campaign.  I’ll  watch one first.

10

Sharkupn kissme

Filly drops into the claiming conditioned ranks tonight, after trying out straight nw1 the only time we saw her locally.  Tons of early speed here to overcome post 10.  Live longshot?  Maybe.

Race 7                     Selections                                3-1-8-2                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Jagger Blue Chip

Led the way through some wicked fractions here last week, before expectedly tiring a bit down the lane to finish 3rd.  He absolutely loves this track, and should be able to dictate the terms after landing on the pole.

2

Ab’s Beach Boy

The old classy veteran returned to form last week, with a dominant front end effort.  Stepping up tonight to face a much tougher group, but be aware he looked like his old self here last week.  I wouldn’t count him out.

3

Mobil Big John

Absolutely crushed a much weaker group in his last try, sprinting home in 27.3 under absolutely no encouragement from his pilot.  Certainly a test for class tonight, looks to fit with these though.

4

Presidential Sam

Sam finished far back at this level last time, and appears to be overmatched once again.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

5

Arringarosa

Has had some success here in the past, but still appears to be a notch or two below the favs in here right now.  Another that I’ll pass on for now.

6

Stone Appeal

Hard to find him overly appealing against this bunch.  Not tonight.

7

Blue Creek Abner

Not sure he is ready for the top ones in here right now.  Should be able to get some class relief next time if he doesn’t cash in here.  Pass for now.

8

Trev Adams Attack

Put together a nice rally to finish 2nd last time, and I would expect a similar journey after landing in post 8 once again.  Lots of early speed, things might set up quite nicely for him.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

9

Royal Stargazer

Another that should get some class relief next start, and is hard to endorse after landing on the far outside against this crew.

Race 8                     Selections                                2-5-7

1

Like a Dream

Wasn’t overly impressed with the local Q’fer, and hard for me to endorse him here in his 1st start in 364 days.  I’ll watch one first.

2

Celebrity Lovin

Disappointed at a short price last time against similar company, but appears to have hooked what may be an even softer crew for this level here.  Should be able to get it done.  No excuses.

3

B Keeper

A decent 3rd place finish against Open company, and now drops into what should be a much more manageable spot.  His best effort puts him in the mix.

4

Rock With It

Another that is returning off an extended layoff, I’ll watch one first.

5

Gambler’s Vacation

Gets a bit of class relief tonight after taking on top level trotters in the last few.  Should be able to blast out for good early position.  Must respect.

6

Dash Til Don

Indy invader was not impressive the only time we saw him race locally, would take a complete turnaround here.  Pass.

7

Rose Run Kermit

No question this guy will be absolutely blasting off the wings, but he is yet to show the stamina needed to hang around late.  Will have to find more.  No question he will be the one to reel in though.

8

Custom Tag

Lands on the outside tonight against a solid crew, would have to find a lot more in the tank to contend for any of the major awards.

9

MJ’s Be There

Likely to have to do it from last tonight, and lands in what may be an even tougher crew than what he faced here last time.  Not sure I am ready to endorse him against these.

Race 9                     Selections                                1-2-4

1

Highland Hellion

Absolutely romped against lesser company last week, and now takes a step up to face a bit better crew here.  Anything similar to that last effort should be plenty enough.

2

Ndana Favorite

Exploded past his rivals at the head of the lane to win in his 2nd start back off the layoff.  No question he steps up to take on tougher company here but should continue to improve.

3

Western Tower

Absolutely charging down the lane here last week to finish only a head short of pulling off the 26-1 upset over #7.  Takes a step up here, will need his very best once again.

4

Drew Bromac

13yo raced evenly last time at this level, and quite honestly faces what might be a bit of an easier crew here tonight against only claimers.  One of several with a chance to finish on the ticket.

5

Paul the Powerful

Paul unleashed a powerful late kick when he shook loose down the lane here last time, but takes a substantial jump up tonight to face 4-5k claimers.  Might be asking a bit much.

6

Topville Diamond

Well beaten as the fav here last week, and I’m not sure things are going to get any easier for him in here.  Will have to pick things up quite a bit.

7

Mcardles Star

Dug in down the lane to fend off #3 last week, and note the barn change here after being claimed in that start.  Anything similar to that last effort should put him in the mix.

8

Dugan Run Dream

Hard to gage arriving in from the OH fairs, and has missed a lot of time in between starts recently.  Not sure if I’m ready to jump on board just yet.

9

Bad Cop

No threat last week after starting from the pole, and now gets slammed with the outside against another solid crew.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

Race 10                   Selections                                5-3-1-2                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Bazinga

Raced MUCH better than I expected last time, finishing up a close 2nd behind #5.  Lands on the pole tonight and should be able to sit close once again.

2

Camgrandest

Couldn’t gain much ground down the lane after being forced extremely wide around the far turn last time.  Lands back on the inside here, needs a better effort to get back on track.  Your call.

3

J’s Six Pak Attack

Has put together a solid season at Scioto, hitting the board in 11 of 25 and banking over $38k against some tough company.  Debuts locally tonight against solid foes, will need his very best.  Lachance chose over #6.

4

Madoff

Raced evenly to finish 4th behind a few of these same rivals last time, but not sure things are going to get any easier here.  I’ll pass for now.

5

Flight Elal

Parlayed a perfect trip just off the demanding pace into the victory last week, and should be able to blast out early for an up close trip once again here.  No question the one to beat.

6

Doc’s Zippy

Nice effort to finish up 3rd behind #5 last time, but would still have to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any of the top awards.  Maybe underneath once again.  Lachance opted to #3 instead.

7

Ombre Art

Hasn’t been able to hang with top level company in his last couple, hard for me to see things changing in here.  I’ll pass for now.

8

The Comedian

Sprinted by his rivals down the lane here last time, but keep in mind things set up perfectly for him in there.  Still not trying to take anything away from him, but he might be overbet a bit coming off that.

Race 11                   Selections                                4-7-5-2-1                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

McBlack

Barn has been on an absolute roll recently, and that included a win by this guy last week.  Steps up to take on maybe a bit tougher crew here, but lands on the pole and should sit close.  Your call.

2

Livelike urdying

Speaking of dying, did he ever pack it in last time after getting a vicious trip at Scioto.  He IS much better than that, but keep in mind he disappointed here as a short price 3 starts back.  Will have to do better.

3

Springhouse Rebel

Has put together some nice rallies recently, but steps up in class once again to face some tough rivals.  Not sure I like him against this crew.

4

Title Shot

Took home the title the last time we saw him, and is another that steps up a notch tonight in WIDE open finale.  Likely blasting early, catch him if you can.

5

Bar B’s Apache Cam

Finally did show some improvement in that last try, finishing up 2nd behind a horse that you were not going to beat that night.  Lands in a perfect mid-pack post once again.  I can see him doing good things.

6

Rock of Luck

Maybe a touch better in that last start to finish a distant 2nd, but I’m still not ready to hop on board against this crew.

7

Final Flash

Tough trip last time, coming first over against the eventual winner.  Keep in mind he did hold on fairly well down the lane to finish 3rd.  Anything similar to that effort should put him in the mix once again.

8

McKee Largo

Impressive win here last time as the fav, but steps up to take on better company here.  Will have to have his very best here in finale against contentious crew.

9

Cladslast impression

Scooted away to a sloppy track win last time, but is another stepping up tonight to take on a tougher bunch.  Lands on the far outside as well.  Not tonight.
