Red Mile Race Reviews

Saturday, August 17th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                4-2-3

1

Rose Run Kermit

Taking a drop in class tonight after trying to go down the road against top level company in his local debut.  Should be blasting out once again, but stamina still appears to be an issue.

2

Didshepray nhowe

Has held her own recently in the claiming ranks at Hoosier, and should enjoy the return to conditioned company in her local debut.  Her best effort puts her right in the mix.

3

Stan the Man

Stan was anything but the man in his local debut, faltering down the lane to finish 5th.  He would have to turn things around quickly, but he has certainly proven he has the talent.

4

Celebrity Lovin

Has been facing FAR tougher company in overnight events on the east coast, and anything close to her best should be enough to get the job done here.  Lots to like.

5

Dawns a Breakin

Decent here at the same level last week, but lands in against solid foes once again tonight.  Would have to pick things up even more.

6

Paris Pike

Ended up scratched due to sickness last time, I’ll watch one first.

7

Custom Tag

Parlayed a perfect trip into a close 2nd place finish last time, but still appears to be a notch or two below the favs in here.  I’ll wait for an easier spot.

Race 2                     Selections                                6-1-2

1

Drew Bromac

13yo is in the midst of a solid season, going 5 for 5 in the claiming ranks at Bluegrass Downs.  Should enjoy the stretch out to the mile oval, his best effort should put him squarely in the mix at a nice number.  Maybe.

2

T Russell Lou

Used extremely hard in the last couple against similar company in Columbus, and might end up in a touch easier tonight than he has faced up there.  Likely to be blasting early.  Catch him if you can.  Sutton opted to #6 instead.

3

Little Nicky B

No luck against similar company recently in OH, and has suffered some breaking issues on top of it as well.  Not quite sure I’m willing to accept a short price on him here.  Nisonger opted to #5 instead.

4

Topville Diamond

Defeated a weaker crew here last time, and takes a step up to face far better company tonight in my opinion.  Not quite sure he is ready for these just yet.  Sutton opted to #6 instead.

5

Blue Collar Raider

Yet another that has been racing evenly in claiming ranks at Scioto recently, and we haven’t seen him in over a month.  Not convinced he beat that much here in the AM Q’fer.  I’ll watch one first.  Nisonger chose over #3.

6

Jagger Blue Chip

Pounced on a fairly soft crew last time, and now drops in for the claiming tag tonight.  No question he isn’t what he once was, but won very easily last time.  He would be tons the best if he is anywhere close to his self.

7

Pleasant Rio

Never in it last time, and now drops into the claiming ranks.  Still would need to find a lot more.  Not tonight.

Race 3                     Selections                                6-2-1

1

Master Host

Finished up a distant 2nd behind #6 last time, and looks like that is about the best he could hope for once again.  Should sit close after landing on the pole.

2

Sister Gola

Never really fired last time, but she IS better than that.  Might be better tonight in her 2nd start back off the brief layoff.  I’ll give her a try on the ticket at what should be solid value.

3

Gambler’s Vacation

Well beaten by #6 last time, and would have to find a lot more to contend for any of the major awards.  It won’t be any vacation tonight.

4

Rome

Has had some success here in the past, but looks to have landed in a tough spot tonight for his first start in over 2 months.  I’ll watch one first.

5

B Keeper

Indy invader has been knocking heads with solid foes at Hoosier, and lands in what is likely similar company for his local debut.  Would need his absolute very best.  Your call.

6

Chinese Cuisine

Absolutely romped as the fav last time, making it 2 in a row since adding lasix.  Lands in an even shorter field tonight, no reason to think he couldn’t make it 3 in a row.  Put a circle around him.

Race 4                     Selections                                6-3-2-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Hereiam Coolwater

Found clearance late last week and came up only a head short of pulling off the 15-1 upset.  Lands on the pole tonight in short field, should continue to improve in her 2nd start back off the shelf.  It’s WIDE open.

2

Deo Gloria

Absolutely scorched through a wicked pace here last week, and she expectedly tired down the lane.  Any smoother journey certainly puts her in the mix.  Maybe.

3

Sea Bug

Came up only a head short of #5 in her local debut.  Again, it’s absolutely WIDE open and she is another of many with a big chance.  Demand value with whomever you choose.

4

Hillbilly Desire

Raced evenly against many of these same rivals last time, but I thought she might be able to close better after the quick early tempo.  Not sure I’m ready to hop back on board just yet.

5

Nocturnal Rose

Dove down to the inside last time to inch by for a slim victory over #’s 1 & 3.  I would expect another off the pace rally here.  She has as good of a shot as any, but I wouldn’t be thrilled with betting her at a short price.

6

Unreal Appeal

Has been facing upper-level conditioned mares recently in OH, and lands in an absolute crapshoot for her local debut.  This mare did have a big win here last year, I’m willing to take a shot at a square price.

7

Twin B Passion

Ended up scratched here last week, and we haven’t seen her now in almost a month.  Hadn’t been finishing up the last couple of miles very well.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

Race 5                     Selections                                1-2-6

1

Madoff

Razor sharp at the IL fairs recently, and shows going some big miles on the big oval at Balmoral.  Anything close to those efforts should be enough to get the job done tonight.  Lots to like.

2

Blue Creek Abner

Not sure what happened in his local debut, as he really packed it in down the lane after setting a very sensible pace.  He IS better than that.  Price will be better tonight as well.

3

Doc’s Sea Lion

Absolutely exploded out of the pocket last week to pull off the 25-1 stunner.  Takes a step up to top level company tonight though, not sure I can endorse him against these.

4

Arringarosa

He got the job done here last week as a heavy fav, but I must say he wasn’t overly impressive in the victory.  Things may set up where he has to be first over on the jump up tonight as well.  I’ll look elsewhere.

5

Royal Stargazer

Appeared that he was going to win it mid-way down the lane last time, before #6 tipped off his back and edged by in deep stretch.  Should continue to improve in 2nd start back, but it won’t be easy against these.

6

E R Prince Charmin

Perfect trip following up #5 last time, and sprinted by his rivals in deep stretch for the victory.  Should get to follow live cover once again, I’ll toss him on the ticket underneath.

Race 6                     Selections                                10-1-9                                     Pick 4 Wagering     See Ticket at the End

1

Charley Strong

Absolutely annihilated Fla in the Sugar Bowl last year, wait a minute we aren’t talking about the Coach.  This Charley Strong hasn’t been overly impressive yet, but this is by far the weakest crew he has ever faced.

2

Tonic Seelster

Rallied in time for a victory on the off track here in the AM, but I’m not sure how strong her rivals were in that effort.  Connections opt to toss her into a conditioned claimer for LT debut.  Your call.

3

Piano in the Dark

No luck at this level last time, but does appear to have landed in against softer company here.  Would still have to pick things up quite a bit.

4

Mor For All

Faded down the lane last time to finish far back, would need a LOT more to contend for the major awards.

5

Make it Magic

Although he did finish 3rd in his local debut, keep in mind he narrowly held off #’s 3 & 4 and essentially finished as far back as they did.  Not sure I’m ready to jump on board just yet.

6

Tambrielle

Got caught up in a big mile last time, so I would disregard that effort.  Her prior tries might put her in the mix, but keep in mind she is 1 for 46 LT.  Underneath only.

7

B Good Lexi

Takes a drop into the conditioned claiming ranks, and should find this to be a much more manageable spot than she has faced thus far in ’13.  Still sporting an 0 for 28 LT record, not sure I can play her on top.

8

Neddy Number Two

Absolutely comes to a walk on the end of her miles currently.  Would take a complete turnaround.

9

Orion’s Belt

Lone 2yo had a nice even debut against a solid crew, and should continue to improve here in his 2nd career start.  I could make a case for him to finish up close in here.  Price should be right as well.

10

Don’t Goa Way

Debuting for new connections tonight, after a couple of average Q’fers.  Not an overly tough crew, I’m willing to take a flier on her from way out here.

Race 7                     Selections                                4-5-2-3                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

McArdles Star

Tired badly the only time we’ve seen him locally, would have to find a lot more stamina to hang around late.  I’ll pass for now.

2

Realiscape

Parked every step of the mile from outside post in his local debut, and lands back in against similar company in what appears to be a WIDE open crew.  Any smoother journey puts him close.

3

Copper Cat

Not a bad effort last time to be 2nd from post 10, although his rival sprinted away from his fairly easily down the lane.  One of several with a big shot, but I will try to beat him at what figures to be a short price.

4

Mobil Big John

Racing in against some tough company in Michigan recently, and should find this level to be much more to his liking.  Has won here in the past as well.  Lots to like.

5

Title Shot

Tough first over trip last week before expectedly tiring a bit down the lane.  Lands right back in at the same level against similar company.  Price should be better tonight, worth a try.

6

Franchise Attack

Raced evenly against similar here last week, but would still need to pick things up a bit to contend for any of the major awards.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.

7

Noah C

Not sure what has happened over the last few starts, but Noah has been all out of ice cream down the stretch lately.  Would have to find a LOT more stamina and quickly.

8

Preferred Stock

Raced evenly from far back in his first local start, and lands on the outside of another wide open field.  I could only see him threatening for the minor awards once again.

Race 8                     Selections                                6-9-1

1

Buckshot Express

Yet to miss the board in 6 LT tries, including a romp last time out at Raceway.  Should sit close with the inside position, I’ll toss him on the ticket underneath.

2

Pepstepn’ Penelope

Not sure Penelope is ready to step with these after a dull effort here last week.  Not for me.

3

J T’s First

A couple of even efforts since arriving locally, and honestly appears to be facing easier company tonight in straight nw2 than when in for the claiming tag.  Needs her very best.  Maybe.  Jerrell opted to #6 instead.

4

Already Spent

No threat in her local debut, would take a lot more.  Pass.

5

Bee Gee

Never got involved last time as well, but I could see him blasting out tonight from mid-pack post in a race that appears to be void of early speed.  Might race better if he is forwardly placed.  Your call.

6

Royal Ideal

Fought every step of the way down the lane last time, only to be nailed by the heavy fav in the final strides.  I thought that was a dead game effort, and anything close should make him clearly the one to beat.

7

Alluring Art

No luck against claiming company in her local debut, and I’m not sure things are going to get any easier here.  I’ll wait for a better spot.  Nisonger opted to #9 instead.

8

Looking for Love

Raced evenly last time in debut for new barn, but is likely going to be coming from last once again.  Asking quite a bit to cover that kind of ground.  Can’t love her tonight.  Jerrell opted to #6 instead.

9

Our Flight

Took flight from post 10 last time to get away 4th, and I don’t think there is any doubt that he will be launching early once again.  Finished up behind a couple of solid rivals in the last try, should be close once again.

Race 9                     Selections                                3-6-2-7                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Through My Eyes

Unleashed a furious 3-wide rally around the far turn last week en route to an easy score.  Takes a step up tonight to face an even tougher crew.  She will need her absolute very best.  Your call.  Sutton opted to #3 instead.

2

Feys Blitzen Grey

The grey gelding got in a nice tightner last time, and should be even better tonight in his 2nd start off the brief layoff.  Steps up a notch though, it won’t be easy.

3

No Satin Needed

Ships in locally after getting destroyed in his last few tries in OH/IN, however, he is facing a MUCH easier crew tonight.  His best effort should be enough to beat these.  Sutton opted here over #’s 1 & 8.

4

Bar B’s Apache Cam

Arrives locally after several sharp efforts on the IL fair scene, but asking quite a bit to go with this crew in his local debut.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

5

Indy Shooter

Wire to wire winner against weaker company last weekend, and steps up to take on far better company tonight.  Not sure he is going to like this spot.

6

Stone Appeal

Had a TON of pace up the inside last week when he finally threaded through traffic trouble.  That’s a pretty solid horse that ended up beating him.  Could hit the ticket here at a nice number.  Must respect.

7

Cams Sahbra

Used extremely hard in her local debut, so don’t be too hard on her for tiring late in that effort.  Keep in mind she did hold her own against some tough company in Paducah, and is 5 for 8 on the season.  Price is right.

8

J J Magabucks

Hasn’t been finishing up his miles all that great at Hoosier, but is another that should enjoy the class relief tonight in an easier spot.  Your call.  Sutton opted to #3 instead.

9

Bluebird Tizzy

Didn’t have much to offer in her local debut, would have to find a lot more tonight against what appears to be an even better group.  Not tonight.

10

Trev Adams Attack

Racing evenly against conditioned company recently at Hoosier, but Gillenwater will have to find a way to work him into the race from way out here.  Won’t be easy.

Race 10                   Selections                                3-6-4

1

Rock of Luck

Finished up far behind #6 last time after riding the rail, would be hard to see him turning the tables here.  I’ll wait for a better spot.

2

Ombre Art

Surged down the lane to pull off the 20-1 upset against Open company last week, but appears to have hooked some tougher foes at the same level this time.  Not tonight.

3

Doc’s Zippy

Held his own recently in the top ranks at Hazel, and should be poised for a big mile here in his local debut.  Certainly will need his very best if he has any shot to knock off the fav.  I’m willing to take a shot.

4

Camart Hanover

Perfect trip following #6 last time, and he could only manage to end up a well beaten 2nd.  Would have to find a bit more kick down the lane to battle for top honors.

5

Final Flash

Ended up well beaten by #’s 4 & 6 last time out when following their cover, but might blast out tonight in a race void of much early speed.  Beware if he gets his own way on the front, he doesn’t like to give up the lead!

6

Camgrandest

Impossible to knock this guy, as he has been in career best form since returning locally.  Another blowout win last time, no doubt he is the one to beat.  Extremely short price looming though.  Worth the risk?

Race 11                   Selections                                5-8-1

1

Happy Hour Hottie

Didn’t have much late kick to offer last time, but I must mention this race looks absolutely WIDE open behind the fav.  She should be sitting much closer, and should have as good of a shot as any.

2

Miss Little

Finished up evenly behind a decent trio last time as a big longshot, and should continue to improve here in her 3rd start back on the season.  Still not sure she is up to this task though…

3

Big Bear Bow

We haven’t seen him in a month, and the local Q’fer wasn’t anything spectacular.  Can’t endorse him just yet.

4

McKee Largo

Tired badly after blazing down to the half quickly in his local debut.  He has proven that he does pack plenty enough speed, but it’s a long way home after turning for home.  Not sure he can see it through.

5

The Comedian

Might really benefit tonight if #4 rolls down to the half quickly, closer has left himself too much to do in the last couple.  Lands mid-pack tonight.  It’s now or never.

6

Father in Law

Ended up with a tough journey parked out last time in short field, and that was enough to end his chances.  Any smoother journey should give him a shot at the minor awards.  Your call.

7

Poker Dice

Trounced last time against Open company, but takes a substantial drop down into mid-level conditioned event here.  One of several with a shot here behind the fav.

8

AB’s Beach Boy

Got a solid tightner under his belt in his ’13 debut last week, and there is no doubt he will continue to improve with each and every start.  I will give him a try under the fav tonight.

Race 12                   Selections                                9-4-3-2                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Massasauga

Trotted evenly in short field last time, and lands in absolutely WIDE open affair here in the final S’fecta on the card.  Should sit close from the pole, maybe a shot at the minor awards.

2

Victoria Valley

Finished up a close 3rd behind a nice filly here last time at a HUGE price.  Any further improvement should put her squarely in the mix once again.  Maybe.

3

Manaloha

Trotted evenly against a tougher crew last time, and is another of many that I could envision having some success in here.  Again, it’s absolutely WIDE open.  Demand value with whomever you choose.

4

OGs Divine Lady

Put in another solid AM work over the off track after making a break here way back on Opening Night.  She will need to mind her manners here.  Her best effort puts her close.  Stiltner opted here over #7.

5

Chip of Nordic

MI invader is making just his 3rd start back in almost 3 years.  Hard to gage his current form, but might be a bit of a stretch to see him going with this crew at this point.  I’ll wait.

6

Marian’s Man

Chi-town invader arrives locally after almost 4 months on the shelf, and the Q’fer was nothing to write home about.  I’ll watch this one closely.

7

Cowling Park

Well beaten at Scioto last time when he tried out the front end, would need to find a LOT more stamina to hang around for any of the major awards late.  Stiltner opted to #4 instead.

8

Moreagio

Appears overmatched and lands on the outside as well.  Not tonight.

9

Imperial Spur

Takes a plunge in class after trotting a nice even mile against FAR better company here in his local debut.  Lands on the far outside, but anything close to that effort should be plenty enough.

Race 13                   Selections                                9-6-1-2-10                               10 Cent Hi Five Wagering

1

Lady Cambest

Had a little kick on the end of that mile last week in her first start down against claiming company.  Lands back on the inside at the same level.  Anything similar should put her close once again.

2

Leadmeto thetruth

Parlayed a perfect trip into a close 3rd place finish last time, narrowly getting edged out for the place.  Should be able to sit close.  I could see him threatening for the minor awards once again.

3

Paper Luck

Takes a substantial plunge in his first local start from the bottom level at Scioto into our bottom level here.  Not thrilled with the way he has been finishing his miles, and not likely to offer much value.

4

Blueridge Hall

Tired after getting used early last time, but did have some punch on the end of the mile prior.  Lands mid-pack again tonight, should contend for the minor awards.

5

Hillcrest Omni

Hasn’t had much stamina to offer on the end of his local efforts against similar company.  I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  Sutton opted to #10 instead.

6

Mor Than Enuf Russ

Russ takes a drop back into claiming company tonight, and this is about the spot I have been waiting on him to land.  Should have a shot in here, and should offer up plenty of value.  That’s Mor Than Enuf for me.

7

Luminous Lombo

First start in 5 months, and wasn’t impressive here in the AM.  I’ll watch one first.  Sutton opted to #10 instead.

8

Clooney

Another arriving in off the layoff here, and left a lot to be desired here in the AM.  I’ll watch this one closely.

9

Highland Hellion

Added lasix in the AM and absolutely crushed his rivals on the off track.  Coming out of much tougher company in PA, his best would make him the one to beat.

10

Lismaras lady

A couple of solid underneath finishes to kickoff her local campaign, and now lands outside in post 10 against similar company.  Sutton likely blasting early for position.  Could certainly hit the ticket once again.
