Red Mile Race Reviews

Friday, September 27th

Track Handicapper – Gabe Prewitt

Race 1                     Selections                                5-7-3

1

Final Fantasy

($125k HB yearling – highest Dewey sold at auction in ’12) Hasn’t shown all that much in the AM, and I’ll watch him go around under the lights once before hopping on board.

2

Overgrown

($27k HB yearling) Decent local Q’fer, but we haven’t seen anything to get overly excited about just yet.  I will mention he lands in a field full of ? marks here.  Wouldn’t shock me.

3

Magic Glide

($12k Lex yearling) Raced a bit better here last time, and picks up the services of Pierce tonight as well.  Any further improvement should put him in the mix.  D. Miller opted to #4 instead.

4

Rocky De Vie

($30k Lex yearling) I really liked this guy when he raced against overnight company here, but he has since followed that up with consecutive breaks.  No question the talent is here if he minds his manners.

5

Elegante Attire

($34k HB yearling) Shows a big win at Vernon against mid-level stakes company, and anything similar to that should make him the one to beat.  Shows making breaks on the smaller tracks, might like the stretch back out.

6

Aqua Lung

($6k Lex yearling) Hasn’t shown much speed in the AM, not sure he is ready for these.

7

Dribbling

($35k Lex yearling) His last start shows you just how much these youngsters can improve from start to start.  Hadn’t shown much at all, then proceeded to finish up a nice 4th in a big mile.  Must respect.

Race 2                     Selections                                2-6-5

1

Another Deposition

($47k Lex yearling) Arrives locally after 3 consecutive breaks and the local Q’fer wasn’t anything to write home about.  Not tonight.  Lachance opted to #6 instead.

2

Starsabove Allerage

($11k HB yearling) Has flashed some speed thus far in his brief career, and shows a win against mid-level stakes company earlier this summer.  His best effort should make him the one to beat in here.

3

Truxton

($60k Lex yearling) Knocked off a little money on the tough PASS circuit this summer, and likely faces a much softer spot tonight.  Might wake him up a bit.  Your call.

4

Samburu

Finished in the runner up spot behind #6 in the $250k KYSS Final the last time we saw him, and we do know he was sick in between.  Will we get his best effort?  I’m not sure.  Lachance opted to #6 instead.

5

Ehrnrooth

Tough to gage the Canadian invader arriving in from the smaller ovals up North, but he has been competitive recently up there.  Barn has had some success here in the past.  Maybe.

6

Sorrento Hall

Absolutely dominated in the $250k KYSS Final, and trotted evenly against some tough older rivals in overnight last time at Pocono.  Should continue to improve.  Lachance opted here over #’s 1 & 4.

Race 3                     Selections                                6-3-1

1

It Really Matters

($6.5k HB yearling) Off to a nice start to his career at Philly with the exception of the one break.  Should continue to improve with the stretchout to the mile oval here in his 4th LT try.  Maybe.  Pierce chose over #5.

2

Victory Scene

Had the look of a good colt earlier this summer when he stormed onto the KY Fair Scene, but never really took that next step forward when facing stakes company.  I’m off the bandwagon for now.

3

Enrichment

($9k Lex yearling) He was ‘ok’ against overnight company locally, and arrives in off an extended layoff tonight.  Not sure he is ready for these just yet.  Pass.

4

Opulent Yankee

($4k HB yearling) Has trotted evenly against some tough company this season, and now lands in what is likely the softest spot he has found to this point in his career.  He certainly fits well with these.

5

Ragazzo Dolce

There are more X’s on his lines recently than my high school Biology tests, I’ll have to watch him prove he can put in a flat effort first.  Pierce opted to #1 instead.

6

Revrac Harbour

Made breaks in his only 2 actual tries, but he has proven he has some ability here in the AM.  The horse he beat in the Q’fer that morning, came back to crush here in stakes action.  I’m on board.

7

Leasem for Less

($5k Lex yearling) Has been knocking on the door against overnight company in IL, but faces a bit tougher group here tonight.  I could consider him for the minor awards only.

Race 4                     Selections                                7-3-5-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

King City

($52k Lex yearling) Was decent earlier this summer on the east coast, but has made consecutive breaks in Kindergarten action since arriving locally.  Needs a big rebound here.

2

Gringott

Connections obviously aren’t overly high on this guy, opting to race him in the ‘Green Acres’ series as opposed to the regular NJSS circuit.  I’ll watch one first.

3

So Not Cool

Trotted evenly in his career debut at Mohawk, and should be ready to rock and roll here in start #2.  Not quite sure he is ready to go with the fav, but certainly a big threat for the minor awards.  Lachance opted to #7.

4

Genius at Work

($80k HB yearling) The Genius has trotted evenly against Kindergarten company locally, but would still have to pick things up quite a bit to contend for any of the major awards.  Pass.

5

Myolinist

($50k Lex yearling) Finished a distant 2nd behind a couple of very nice trotters both times we have seen him locally, and likely finds himself in an easier spot tonight.  I could make a case here.

6

Triumph

Decent over his last few starts against overnight company on the east coast, but still going to have to find some more stamina if he is going to hang with the top ones in here.  Underneath only.

7

Great Society

($50k Lex yearling) I must say I was VERY impressed by that last effort, as he gave the heavy fav a scare in deep stretch after finally shaking loose.  If he’s anywhere near that good again, they won’t beat him.

8

Mandela Blue Chip

($80k HB yearling – highest Crazed sold at auction in ’12) Has encountered a ton of breaking problems to this point, and would need a complete turnaround to compete for the major awards here.

Race 5                     Selections                                3-2-1-4                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Dony Andreas

($44k HB yearling) Ended up with no chance after a brutal trip in the last try, and I must say his start prior where he finished 2nd after coming first up on the heavy fav was impressive.  Lands in a tough div here though.

2

Speak the Truth

($65k HB yearling) I have been extremely impressed with his local efforts to this point, but unfortunately tonight he locks up with The Father.  I’ll try an ICE COLD exacta 3-2!

3

Father Patrick

($105k Lex yearling – highest CH colt sold at auction in ’12) Absolutely dominant to this point in his career, with his 2 most dominant wins coming when the big money has been on the line.  It would be a sin to pick against him.

4

Muscle Midas

($300k Lex yearling) Hasn’t been any match for #3 to this point in his brief career, but appears to be coming around a bit over the last few starts.  Maybe a shot at the minor awards in here.

5

Raise the Curtain

($8k HB yearling) The bargain yearling of the group has trotted evenly against some of the top colts in NA, but likely still a notch or two below the top ones in here.

6

Lightning Force

($80k Lex yearling) Has been ‘ok’ since adding hobbles a month or so back, but appears to be in deep water against this crew.  Not sure lightning will strike in here.  Callahan opted to #1 instead.

7

Kapow Hanover

($90k HB yearling – highest EM sold at auction in ’12) Well beaten here in Kindergarten action last week, and things aren’t going to get any easier against these.

Race 6                     Selections                                1-2-3                       $10,000 Guaranteed Pick 4 Pool           See Ticket at the end

1

Wind River Cat

Has stepped up her game over the last couple of months against overnight company in Columbus, including a 7 length romp in a LT best 2 starts back.  RAZOR sharp right now.  Lots to like.

2

Douknow whereurgoin

I certainly don’t know where I’m going half the time, and am really not that confident where to go here in the first leg of the Pick 4.  Canadian invader has a ton of early speed.  Must respect.

3

Willow Gram

Has held her own against tough foes in Chi-town in banking over $40k on the season.  Likely lands in a more manageable spot here.  Her best effort puts her squarely in the mix.

4

The Bomb Dottie

No question Dottie is going to be a Bomb in here.  I can’t see her crashing this party.  Pass.

5

My Sweet Mandy

Appears to have picked things up a bit since moving over to Yonkers, but would likely still need even more to contend for the major awards against this crew.  Your call.  Tetrick opted here over #6.

6

Revival Rock

Not quite sure she is on the same level as her stablemate (#1) right now, and would likely have to find a bit more pop on the end of it to hang with this crew.  Tetrick opted to #5 instead.

7

Swinging Cami

Cami was not able to duplicate that 52 mile in the KYSS, but still held her own against some fairly tough company.  Likely going to have to do it from last here.  It won’t be easy.

Race 7                     Selections                                7-6-4-5                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Shift Into Glide

($250k HB yearling – highest YG sold at auction in ’12) Got caught up in a bit of a duel with the big fav here last time, only to tire a bit late.  Hooks maybe the easiest div, but still needs his absolute very best.

2

Hillustrious

($56k Lex yearling) Was solid the only time we saw him locally, but has had some breaking problems as well.  Might be asking a bit much for him to go with these right now.

3

Muscle Network

Not really sure what to expect here after consecutive breaks prior to tonight, but connections are obviously high on him if they tossed him in the Wellwood.  I’ll watch this one closely.

4

Odds on Amethyst

Has a TON of early speed, and he has been able to parlay that into some nice checks thus far.  Lands in possibly the softest div tonight, Tetrick will have to find a way to ration out that speed.

5

Master Kemp

($50k Lex yearling) Connections opted to race him on mid-level PA circuit this summer, and it might be asking quite a bit to hang with the top ones in here just yet.  Underneath only.  Pierce opted here over #1.

6

Auspicious Hanover

($50k HB yearling) Already banked over $119k without a win on his resume, picking up some nice checks against tough PASS company.  No question he fits with these.

7

Exodus Hanover

($42k HB yearling) Got nosed out by #6 for 2nd in the $260k PASS Final last time as the heavy fav, but had to endure a tough trip there.  Has been a model of consistency all season.  Likes to win.

Race 8                     Selections                                8-1-2-3                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Southwind Silence

($60k Lex yearling) Overcame an impossible trip to win that last start at Hoosier, and has yet to miss the board in 9 starts this season.  Should be sitting close after landing on the pole, but a tough task to hold off #8.

2

Beach Gal

($85k HB yearling) No match for #8 even with the perfect trip in behind her last time, but still held on well for a solid 2nd.  I’ll try her in behind the fav once again.

3

Instant Respect

($90k Lex yearling) I wouldn’t be too hard on her for that last start, as she sprinted that backhalf in just over 54 seconds to be 3rd.  Lands in quite the shark tank here though, I could only consider underneath.  YG opted to #1.

4

Act Now

($40k Lex yearling) Absolutely stole the $138k Kentuckiana stake at Hoosier, sweeping to the lead past the half in 59 seconds and sprinting away down the lane.  Takes a step up to the major leagues tonight though.

5

Upfront Bad Girl

($75k HB yearling) Looks to have landed in a very tough spot for her local debut, I’ll pass on her against these.  Callahan opted to #6 instead.

6

Anegada

($25k HB yearling) Appears to be overmatched against this crew right now.  Pass.

7

Impatience

($130k Lex yearling) Held her own against tough foes in Canada to begin her career, but likely asking a bit much for her to contend for any of the major awards against this crew right now.  Pass.

8

Precocious Beauty

Congratulations to my man Jim Avritt on his Precocious Beauty, who has been vicious to this point in her career.  Clearly the one to beat, easily defeated #2 in that last try.

9

Somethin incredible

The KYSS Champ has found herself in a tough spot after landing on the far outside against this crew.  Can’t endorse her against these.

Race 9                     Selections                                5-10-7-4                  50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Windsong Khloe

Lands in what is likely the softer of 3 divs, but still appears to be a notch or two below the top ones in here right now.  I’ll pass for now.  Jody J opted to #10 instead.

2

Fits Well

Hasn’t proven she packs enough speed to fit with these just yet, I’ll watch one first.

3

Rosie De Vie

($60k Lex yearling) Picked up a couple of nice 3rd place checks in the last 2, but taking a step up to the big leagues here.  Not sure she is ready for these.  Callahan opted here over #8.

4

Allstar Rating

Defeated by her stablemate who we saw in action in the last race, in her last try at Hoosier.  Should continue to improve tonight in only her 3rd LT try.  Maybe.  Gingras opted here over #6.

5

Lasting Appeal

Typically unleashes a wicked late kick, and lands in a perfect mid-pack post tonight to pick up some live cover and strike late.  Has had to hook up with PB in each of her last 3 starts, I find her quite appealing in here.

6

Fiyonce

Had a big 52.4 win at The Meadowlands earlier this summer, but seems to have tailed off a bit over the last couple of starts.  Stamina appears to be the major concern.  Pass.  Gingras opted to her stablemate, #4.

7

Take That Hanover

($58k HB yearling) Has flashed some major league talent at times, I was really impressed by the first over effort back on 8-17 in the Eternal Camnation.  No question her best effort puts her in the mix.

8

My Lady Day

($75k Lex yearling) Appears overmatched against these right now, I’ll wait until we see some improvement.  Callahan opted to #3 instead.

9

Caviart Shelly

Appears to have landed in a tough spot for her local debut, I’ll pass for now.

10

She’s Da Bomb

Won’t be easy from way out here, but she hooks what is likely the softer of 3 divs tonight in the Bluegrass.  No question JJ will have to float out for position early, she hasn’t done a thing wrong to this point.

Race 10                   Selections                                3-7-6-1                    50 Cent Superfecta Wagering

1

Damfoolr millionair

($33k HB yearling) Never got involved in the $354k Wellwood last time, but should be sitting much closer tonight from the pole.  Not sure he is ready to go with the fav, but appears to be one of several with a shot at the minor awards.  Pierce opted to #6 instead.

2

Another Transcript

($20k Lex yearling) Romped to an easy win as the fav last time in $50k PASS div, but would likely need to pick things up a bit more to contend for the major awards in here.  Gingras opted to #3 instead.

3

Southwind Spirit

($105k Lex yearling) After watching the last couple, I’m convinced this guy could be anything.  I would love to see him hook up with FP here next week.  RAZOR sharp right now.  Gingras opted here over #2.

4

Epic Ranger

Flashed a bit of improvement in $51k stake on Jug Day, but still asking a lot for him to go with this bunch.  Pass.

5

Scacco Matto

Not quite sure he is ready to go with this crew right now, I’ll wait for a better spot.

6

Outburst

($33k Lex yearling) Really rounded into form over the last few starts, finishing 3rd behind a couple of very nice colts 2 starts back.  His best effort should put him in the mix here.  Pierce opted here over #1.

7

Trixton

($360k Lex yearling – highest MH sold at auction in ’12) To say he rebounded last time would be an understatement, he destroyed his rivals.  Won’t be that easy here though against #3, needs his very best.

Race 11                   Selections                                4-1-6-8-9                 10 Cent Super Hi Five Wagering

1

Barefoot Beauty

Exploded past her rivals with a track record performance last time at Batavia, in what is a HUGE mile for that track.  I think she will be very close in here at what should be a big number.  McNair opted here over #2.

2

Seashell Hanover

($50k Lex yearling) Hooked up with some tough foes recently in Canada, but she is going to have to find some more stamina to hang around for a piece late against these.  McNair opted to #1 instead.

3

Palm Beach Hanover

($62k HB yearling) Held her own against overnight company at Mohawk, but a big step up to take on a solid group here.  Would have to pick things up quite a bit still.

4

Gallie bythe Beach

One of 5 daughters of SBSW here in the finale, this gal is yet to miss the board in 8 career tries with earnings of over $304k.  Looks like clearly the one to beat in here.

5

Uffizi Hanover

($100k Lex yearling – highest WS filly sold at auction in ’12) Picked up a nice piece in $138k Indy stake last time, but keep in mind things set up quite well in there for her.  Won’t be that easy here.

6

I Need Hotstuff

Filly has had some excuses over her last few, and might fly a bit under the radar here at a big price.  I could see her offering big value and landing on that 10 cent Hi Five ticket.  Gingras opted here over #7.

7

Sister Stroll

($40k HB yearling) Dominated on the half mile oval at Delaware last week, but faces what appears to be a much better crew here tonight.  Hard for me to endorse her against these.  Gingras opted to #6 instead.

8

Beach Body

($110k HB yearling) Another that has had some excuses over the last couple, and shows finishing just in behind #4 back on 8-7 at Pocono.  Her best effort should put her in play for the minor awards.  Pierce chose over #10.

9

Bahama Blue

($42k HB yearling) Spent a lot of time in Canada trying to chase down Precocious Beauty which has proven to be a tough task for everyone.  A bit softer spot here, still needs her very best though.

10

Delightful Dragon

Saw her dam get her first career win here, but it doesn’t look like this filly is ready to go with these quite yet, particularly after getting slammed with post 10.  I’ll watch one first.  Pierce opted to #8 instead.
