The Red Mile is home to the world famous one mile oval racetrack uniquely made of red clay, a natural resource of Kentucky. With the red clay racing surface, the Red Mile provides not only World Record race times, but is extremely beneficial to young horses. Owners and Trainers from across North America, send their horses here knowing they have the best chance to shatter their Lifetime Mark, and maybe even set a World Record time.
The Red Mile’s racing season begins in August and ends in October. The First part of our racing meet features the Kentucky Sire Stakes racing series culminating in the finals on Super Night with over $2 million in purses. New this year is the Kindergarten series for two year old trotters.
During the final two weeks of our racing season, the Grand Circuit comes to town. The elite in Standardbred Racing are showcased in races such as the Kentucky Futurity, the third jewel in Trotting’s Triple Crown. The filly trotters aren’t to be outdone as they covet their own Kentucky Filly Futurity trophy. Top 3 year old pacers from across the country are featured in the Tattersalls Pace. Sprinkled throughout the two weeks, patrons will be thrilled to see the triumphant winners of the International Stallion Stakes, The Bluegrass Series, and the Glenn Garnsey. The Allerage for Aged horses provides the stage to prove that horses just get better with time.
