The 139th season of live racing kicked off
at Lexington’s
Red Mile with a bang on Sunday, August 5th. A good crowd enjoyed great weather and a
parade of longshots on the opening night program which has made for a $2,663
Pick 4 carryover into the first Thursday night program. As part of the United States Trotting
Association’s Strategic Wagering Program, The Red Mile has announced that the
Thursday night Pick 4 (Races 6-9) will offer a $10,000 Guaranteed Pool.
The popular ‘Dollar Night’
specials have returned as well for Thursday night patrons in 2012, with fans
enjoying admission, programs, hot dogs, draft beers, and sodas for only a buck. College students will receive free programs
and admission on Thursday nights with a valid college ID.
The Red Mile Clubhouse will
be open select race nights throughout the 2012 season, including this upcoming
Saturday, August 11th. For a
complete schedule or to make reservations, please contact The Red Mile
Clubhouse at (859) 233-0814.
Live racing continues at The
Red Mile on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings through October 7th,
with a first post of 7 p.m. The $2 million Kentucky Sires Stakes ‘Night
of Champions’ is slated for Sunday, September 9th.
